Shooting My Hoyt RX-8 With No Sight! | Bare Bone Bow Build w/ Joel Turner
Ойын-сауық
We are building out my new Hoyt RX-8 to shoot with no sight! Joel Turner from Shot IQ came out and walked me through the process of shooting a bow in this way!

This deserves a whole series. I'd like to see what a longer axel bow & finger tab could do.

Unless its a long ass bow, like 50 ATA, its going to be uncomfortable to shoot finger.

@@Lost_Hwasal i don't know i think a 38 to 40 inch might be doable

I've been shooting a 33" ATA bow with fingers for the last 12 yrs... It's definitely doable, and definitely comfortable enough.

Watch Fitzgerald Studios he's been doing that for years with Mathews bows. He's a beast.

True 👍
This is how an Oneida bow is setup!!,
I always tell people that wanna start shooting instinctively or like this, it’s like anything else practice, practice, practice. Like throwing a baseball or football. You don’t think about it, just becomes muscle memory. That’s why an outfielder can throw a baseball to home plate right in the catcher’s glove. Great video RJ !
I have always shot my compound bows bare bones just arrow rest , knock point and glove , like the man said " its like a regular bow on steroids " that's right ! and they are easily tuneable unlike regular bows .. 👍Good vid thanks .
That looks very rewarding! You've got me thinking.
I'm not a compound guy, but I don't think I have ever seen a group of compound shooters enjoy themselves so much. Just like a few kids with the latest greatest toy. Loved the video, very cool.
oh im setting up one of my bows to try this for sure
Ok, I'm intrigued....
Ive shot bare bow compound for over 35 yrs, minus 1 1/2 that i tried sights, and a year i used a release (ala uncle Ted) This is definitely interesting way to shoot that i might play around with a little.
Awesome video guys !!! Thanks for sharing definitely looks like a fun way to Shoot
I could never afford to shoot like this, would lose too many arrows 😂
This is crazy cool
Interesting i need to try this
oh yer now that looks good. 🏹🏹
Crazy ! Makes sense though.
OK ya'll convinced me....gotta try it now.
Wow I’m surprise you could do that with a compound bow, I might try that down the road once I get a few kills.
Me too!
One of the most truly educational videos I’ve seen in a long time. Years ago I did some of this “bare bow” compound shooting. It is amazing to see the arrows fly only faster !
Im gonna try this this arvo on my phase 4! Never know until you try right?
Lol you ever feel like archery has just been walking in a big circle as far as technique.
Can you use a different arrow rest like a blade rest or some other type of rest?
Like the ad says, "inquiring minds want to know." Be sure to save the video. We want you take this 160-point Boone and Crockett buck at 50 yards! 🦌🦌
Is that D loop material he used for the constrictor knot?
I may convert

@@RJandAubrey can you or Joel give a little more detail on measurement about the nocking and dloop positions on string?

Yes please follow up video on some of those numbers would be awesome. I want to do this on my levitate.
That's still sighting the bow. No where near instinctive shooting capabilities can achieve. Check out Tim Wells and the Fitzgerald father/son. They all shoot compound bare bow, true instinctive.
So you need a ripcord, qad type rest?
@aidendelong5869

Not really, but a solid drop away with good aiming points
So did your draw length change with shooting like this?
@RJandAubrey
6 ай бұрын
We had to lengthen the D Loop to allow it to bend to my cheekbone slightly allowing me to get closer to the arrow. My draw arm sits farther back now so Im still at the same draw but my back arm is stretched slightly farther back😁👍

@@RJandAubrey cool thanks 😊 i think im gonna give this a try on my SS34. I have the world's worst time trying to see clearly using sights and peeps.
Why not shoot traditional equipment
That looks so wrong lol. Arrow way high when you anchor. Donno if my mind could handle shooting like that haha.

Hahahah That’s exactly my thoughts when I said Id give it a go🤣 Now it’s becoming more natural to me. I’m hoping after putting more time in practicing Ill be confident to take it in the field!
Try the TAC 111 yard challenge please!!!!
