Its true... I did the same in 1997, I was looking for job and I had no computer at that time. And computers were very rare in my circle. So I asked my friend if she need any help in graphics and or animations, I asked her because she had computer at home and her home was about 15 Km far from my home. Fortunately she liked I asked her and I reached there and I created 5 versions of the project she was working and It helped me because she delivered only one project and I got all 5 in my Floppy Disks at that time I copied in two sets of floppies, and one set was of 14 of 1.44 MB Floppy Diskettes.

I literally tried this on accident and it is working! I just made a little "tribute' video of a Halo action figure and now a bunch of board game companies and toy companies are like "YO, HELP US OUT!" So thank you for reinforcing this concept for me! #kudos

They have too much money to do it themselves, rather pay Tyler to look awesome
I have retouched and been an on set compositor for a few NIKE shoots. Almost all of their product photography is actually composites of several different lighting set ups. Some exposures are specifically for the tip of the swoosh or rim of the air bag. That allows you to shape an object in impossible ways. That technique could be a fun idea for another video. Also I would definitely study up on styling you like or bite the bullet and hire a stylist. Obviously you mentioned that, but for a portfolio piece, styling alone can elevate your portfolio and make it look legit. As a photographer it will also help you out a ton to network and try to develop personal relationships with professionals in that field since a lot of them will be working on similar shoots and could introduce you to new cool people to collaborate with.

James B. I started retouching in ad agencies in Portland Oregon around 7 years back after sending my portfolio around town. Most of the creative agencies in town either have some type of work from adidas or NIKE (some both 🤫) I’ve done far more work for adidas and it’s interesting to see the branding differences between how adi, Nike, and Reebok and Columbia like their retouching. I was lucky to be located in a market that was saturated with really visible sports and lifestyle brands. I’ve never been hired directly by Nike as they mainly had ecomm stuff in-house (although I believe that work has mostly been moved to southern Cali) and honestly I would t have wanted those positions, they had weird long contracts then Mandatory months off to circumvent employment stuff. I like agency side stuff for now.
Big takeaway for me is “create the content you want to be hired for”. That statement speaks volumes to a guy wanting to do creative work for a living.
Love the videos man, your editing and storytelling is A1.
Absolutely! Your advice about portfolio content in relation to work expectation is priceless!
This video has so much content. Something like an unsung hero kind of video. Thank you for the subtle lessons. Including this to my favourites.

Bro It's 5:07 in Romania when I'm watching this and you literally changed my LIFE with that Art board trick, great video, subscribed forever !
Great video and message. Being a much older commercial producer this is the same thing we used to do to get work. We would build a speck reel containing brands we wanted to work for and then shop it for representation. It cost us a whole lot more money but it’s the same concept.
Tyler I am sure you are enjoying your work, keep it up. This gives lots of ideas to people like me
You are providing gold! Thank you for documenting this process and killer shots! And cheers.
You always come in clutch!!! Great video and inspiration!!!
Artboard tips were a big workflow plug! Thanks for making true helpful creative industry tips and expressing this work in a way that interests and inspires a younger deomographic. Big ups bro!

Love your work man
You handle these shoes like cards, lol. This is wonderful! The mesh is so great--I love rummaging around for stuff to use in my house for creative projects, it always produces a terrible or wonderful affect.
This is just what I need right now. Great video!
So much value... I never knew about art board before this vid and been using photoshop for ages... thanks heaps for your value mate keep the fire coming 🔥👌
This is epic keep up the good work man
Very very good tutorial both technically and creative-lly (if that's a word)! Loving it!!
Legendary! super inspiring! and great setup and final products
Another way to get rid of the shadows: Open up lightroom, Select the brush tool, Make the exposure almost max or whatever looks most realistic, Brighten up the shadows, Add some fether to blend it nicely.
Last words were so MOTIVATING THANKS 🙏🏽
Yo bro loved the video and how u explained what u were doing. Good job 💯
This gives me a great idea on how to build up my portfolio, thanks Tyler!
This artboard thing just BLEW MY MIND! thank you for the vid Tyler!
Awesome video and tips! One thing I would add when doing shoots is context. The story of this particular product is Nike’s Joyride technology. Having worked for Nike for a while, I noticed they put a massive emphasis on storytelling so to make the already awesome work more effective it would help to reflect the tech within the set/props/edit and include photos that highlight the joyride zones of the product. But then I suppose it depends on if you’re going down the storytelling route or minimalist approach. Super dope idea with the ring light man, now I have to buy a ring light lol ❤️
Had this recommended to me!!! Let’s goooooo Babin 😤😤😤😤
The photos turn out so clean! That is creative way of product photography
I just did this!! Right after this video I went and did a shoot as well with my Nikes! Thank you for this video and for introducing that mindset to create the work we want to be hired for! 😁👌

Amazing job. Really like the perspective on those photos and edits overall. This is inspiring for me to get out there and shoot what I want to get hired for. 🙃
Clean clean clean, great vid, loved it.
Amazing content this is dope keep up the great work!!
Nice work buddy keep it up. Clever what you can do with creativity and time
Thanks for sharing your creative process, this was very insightful!
Great video, loved the the walkthrough beginning to end. Some things to consider, The counter panel on the shoe is blue and they were edited to look grey. The joyride materiel in the sole also has blue across the lineup. I would suggest maintaining color accuracy when shooting product. Keep up the great work.
Love the message as well as the bts/tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing. Going to go create the work I want to be hired for.
This is super inspiring man! As someone who shoots product, I now really need to up my game 💪🏻😄

This one just made the click for me. Thank you so much for the inspiration Babin. This inspired me to make my own photos of sneakers (for another brand tho) (its Adidas ahaha) and documento the process of it! 🙏
I saw the raw vs edit in the beginning and I hit like. Then when you got into color grading the art boards I went “OOOOO” and was about to press like again 😂

I love that you cracked open the beer. Best way to make edits.
