    The mentioning of hand placement away from the body is very helpful. Great video.

    Its good to be able to shoot off either leg. In a game you may have to time to shoot off of your left or right leg, and may not have time to shuffle your legs to shoot off of the specific leg you learned on. Practice both.

  • @CoachZac

    @CoachZac

    10 жыл бұрын

    Alan Leeder You should never shuffle your legs to shoot off of them. You are right you should practice both but you should also know and train the leg you are going to get the most power off of so that becomes natural and you don't have to think...you just release.

    Hey is that puck supposed to be in the front for power or is that just for a quick release or is the puck always supposed to be in the front of the blade for the snapshot and wristshot

    +Robbie Miller you want to hit the ground. That is called downward pressure and it's how you put flex on the stick.

    My natural grip on my stick seems to be higher than most, which, I think, has a negative effect on my shot power. It's hard to change it now because it's a habit but I want to work on it. How far down the stick is ideal for the bottom hand? Is there a guideline or a rule to maximize shot power?

  • @CoachZac

    @CoachZac

    9 жыл бұрын

    Jeremy Sexton yup, if your hands are to close together it will limit your shot power. Try just moving your hand down an inch or two and practice with different lengths. See where you are generating the most power but also make sure it is comfortable and then just keep training with your hand there and eventually it will become natural.

    John NOPANCAKEMIX that is when your stick blade hits the ground/ice. This helps put more flex on the stick. It will come if you practice more and get the top hand out and then SNAP it back into your body.

  • @CoachZac

    @CoachZac

    9 жыл бұрын

    John NOPANCAKEMIX just keep practicing and keep working out. The stronger you get (legs and upper body) the better you will be able to flex your stick and shoot hard.

  • @CoachZac

    @CoachZac

    Get your hands and weight in front of the puck. That will happen at first, keep working on it. Remember to put pressure down into the ground. You will start to notice a few here and there that are really good. It may take 10,000 shots of practice but it will be worth it.

  • @CoachZac

    @CoachZac

    4 жыл бұрын

    That's just a guy in the background I have clapping each time I shoot! haha Seriously though, it's about down-pressure, add a little more body lean over the puck and make contact with the ground just behind the puck to add flex to your stick. As your top hand snaps back into your hip and your bottom hand extends out, you will create that force into the ground. It takes practice, but once you get it the puck will spring off your stick.

    The fundamentals are still there and very important. If you don't have those you want have a good shot regardless of what some online gurus say. I definitely agree there are some newer concepts that can be added as well but this is also a very old video.
