rvz.la/42dUVaN | Shoei X-15 Helmet
The Shoei X-15 Helmet was born from years of racing experience with one goal in mind, winning. Developed in Shoei’s state-of-the-art wind tunnel facility, the X-15 improves upon its predecessor with 6.1% less drag as well as 1.6% less lift. Utilizing a Multi-Ply Advanced Integrated Matrix Plus (AIM+) shell works together with the Multi-Piece Multi-Density EPS liner to make this one of the most protective helmets on the market.

For anyone that's confused this helmet is SNELL M2020R which is very different from SNELL M2020D that RF-1400 and most others have, in a nutshell SNELL 2020R is basically conforming to ECE standards (which are far superior where it actually matters as they focus on rotational and SNELL's standards are outdated) and it's a SNELL sticker for the sake of it.

I just got the X15 last Wednesday, and holy shit this is an awesome helmet. I upgraded from an old 2006 HJC helmet. The air flow inside this helmet is phenomenal. I ride in Houston, Texas, and last Sunday, it was well over 100⁰F with stupid humidity. With the visor shut, it was like I was turning the AC on. I'm in love with this helmet. I spent a lot more than I thought I would, but the selling point was how comfortable it is and when I put it on and take it off, it doesnt feel like its trying to take my cheaks with it. To add to this, I made a hydration tube out of my camelbak, and that is soooo awesome on long rides in this heat.

Snell was the beed knees test 30-40 years ago. All they do is hit the helmet x2 twice super hard in the same spot. Companies are overbuilding shells too much material and weight to satisfy it. its meaningless in a real world crash when you probably are flipping around and your neck/brain is getting tweaked. Learned that from 6D research. This Shoei might steal me away from old bell star carbon.

Shoei kind of does the same thing as Arai where generally the shell is engineered to be more likely to deflect, so they don't feel the MEDS system is necessary on this helmet. The VFX-Evo is very angular and more likely to "dig in" in a crash, hence why MEDS is implemented there.

The X-15 is a pretty cool helmet especially for customers that want an active MotoGP helmet or the ability to customize the interior (if the X-14 didn't fit perfectly). Otherwise, the X-14 on sale is a steal for a very similar helmet.

Please don't take offence for this post, because I love Revzilla. You guys all do a stellar job of making great content! STELLAR! I just wanted to point out that you often say "Fitment" and I suspect it's being misused. Are you trying to use it as a noun for the parts of the helmet? Fitment is an old "English" noun for a fixed item of furniture or piece of equipment, especially in a house. "Fit" is the adjective, verb, and noun for how something fits. So whether you "explain the fit" of something, or say something has a good "fit", you don't add any more letters. You only add letters if it "Fits" or if you are going in for a "fitting". But the word fitment is not a fitting word for this video unless you are maybe trying to use it to describe the liner itself as being one of the helmet's fitments :P

YGWYPF. But honestly the Shoei really offers the best bang for your buck in this price category. The AGV Pista is about $400 more but it's kind of a Pista-Crap by comparison. It's a very light, very aerodynamic helmet, but lacks completely many creature comforts we've come to expect in a modern helmet such as bluetooth speaker pockets and vents with an on/off switch. They use rubber vent plugs... Also, "tell me your helmet is loud without telling me your helmet is loud," in the accessory pack is a pair of earplugs... About $1000 for the HJC 1N, which is carbon so slightly lighter than the X15, but nowhere near as nice when it comes to the fit/finish and the internals. The Shark Race-R Pro GP is up there around $1000, but has only 2 shell sizes (a joke for that money). And the Arai Corsair-X despite being a $1000 helmet suffers from a lack of modern innovation opting instead for tradition and simplicity, most Arai helmets are like this. They're all very well made, but very basic. Arai does several shells but inexplicably made the LG and MD (the two most common sizes) share a shell, while XS and 2XL (the two LEAST common sizes) got unique shells. Also, Arai has a carbon Corsair-X that's $4k. THAT is absurd.

@@DesertDuc the RPHA1 is not a carbon fiber shell. Like SHOEI it uses a matrix of cf, aramids, and other organic materials. It’s also FIM rated which is probably the biggest reason it’s lighter. ECE 2206 helmets now have a weight penalty due to stricter penetration testing similar to SNELL.

The 'X' series have always been track helmets but this version seems to take that to the extreme. The X14 could be used as a street helmet so I think it's the sweet spot. The X15 just goes one step too far into the track only helmet category.

FWIW - having used both the X14 and X15 back to back on the street, I don't think there is much difference between them for those that want a sporty-helmet for commuting or that want a single helmet do both track and street. Shoei definitely designs it to best at high-speed, but most riders who buy it are likely on the street (same with other GP level sport helmets)

Why would you sacrifice safety for weight?? The composites used by Shoei are tested to surpass DOT, ECE, Snell safety ratings, they achieve that through the materials used, and unfortunately carbon fibre isn't quite there as yet. They are apparently doing a lot of carbon fibre testing and development, with various weaves and flexibility, so it's the future once safety ratings are achieved.

LOL don't at me, other brands have been creating carbon helmets with FIM homologation. Tell that to AGV for example, the top of the line helmet that they have is made of carbon. We do not want to test the safety of a helmet no matter what the brand is. But the lightness of it, you will benefit from it every single time that you will wear your helmet. Now tell me, do you guys plan to yeet your bike and crash every single time for you to emphasize safety on me? I bet no.
