If it's going to run at those FPS, then the least Microsoft should do is have the Series X version run at native 4k and the Series S version run at native 1440p. None of that upscaling crap either. Straight native if running at 30fps.

No, FPS in 30FPS is unacceptable for me.

Arkane prioritized 4k over 60 FPS. This is very backwards. An optimized 1440p 60FPS at minimum should of been prioritized for the Series X at least.

I'm thinking there are major bugs and they can't devote dev hours to optimizing at 60fps without a delay. This is there first online game too. Getting to 4K30 is easier, less CPU intensive. Would bet decent money this game releases buggy as hell.

This could get worse if previews show the resolution is not locked or not native or if the frame rate dips.

I’m sick of always getting the shaft from Xbox.

This is a Microsoft first party title they shouldn’t have any issue hitting 60fps. Microsoft needs to get tech people over to that studio now and get this game fixed now

How did Arkane misread the room so badly? If anything, "quality" mode should've been the one delayed until after launch, not performance mode. Or you know... just wait until you have BOTH ready. By doing it this way, you open yourself up to a TON of criticism & the ire of fans, and now have zero room for error. If the game is anything but fantastic, people already have a negative opinion of your game/dev process because of this, so they'll be extremely harsh in judging the game...

There are too many XSS games running on UE4 at 60FPS and 120FPS to make it the case. They are adding a 60FPS mode to XSS at a later date, so it cannot be that. It is supposedly open world so that might tie into it to be fair.

@antoniobandaro It's definitely a weird situation, but every trailer they've ever shown of the game has been running at 60 fps. It's an awful look for them to announce it won't have 60 fps day 1, just 3 weeks before launch. Even if the game is good, the fact we're having this discussion at all really hurts the game's reputation. Perception has been irreparably damaged now. There's now a contingency of people who will always bring this issue up when discussing the game, and likely use it to steer conversation into speculation about Xbox Studio management or other negatives.

I have no interest in games that are many years away with teaser trailers that are pure cinematics. I like the 12 month approach but it's fine if the window is 9-18 months.

Personally, if it's a consistent 30 FPS, I can deal with it. However, when it frequently drops below that is when it bothers me. If the performance mode is coming really soon, I think they should delay the game until it's ready. If the performance mode is a few months off, then they should at least try to give a window, so that people have an idea how long they'll be waiting. Another thing I wish more games would do is give a "balanced" mode. That's how I tend to play most games that offer it.

Hopefully the backlash lights a fire to get the 60 FPS mode out ASAP. I think this is due to Arkane's inexperience with Unreal engine since they have only used Void up to this point.

They most likely already sent the "code" or whatever to manufacturers to make the physical copies. I doubt they can delay it at this point. Thats not a defense, just thinking about the time frame.

It sucks that there's no option for a 60 FPS for Redfall. I always prioritize graphics anyway, because I like my AAA games pretty so I'll still play it. BUT, I will say this: FPS games at 30 FPS is VERY noticeable instead of 60. I can also imagine this will cause actual headaches/eye strain for people who aren't used to playing like that. 3rd person games aren't that bad (like gotham knights, which I loved at 30), but that's a whole other can of worms.

It's 2023. "Next-gen" has been current gen for two and a half years. There is absolutely no excuse for new games launching at less than 60fps with the hardware we're playing on. It's unacceptable. If I didn't care about high framerates, I would've stuck with my One X and not spent $500 on the most powerful console in the world that has very few games to actually showcase that claim.

I just can't do 30fps anymore, it literally gives me a headache, especially with first person shooters. Plagues Tale had 40fps, which combined with black frame insertion made it bearable, but 30? Ouch, Redfail indeed.

As a PC player I dont care much, I will be playing at 60 FPS even if I have to lower some resolutions, but there is no reason to release the game locked 30 FPS on consoles, just delay it. Yes, it would be a PR disaster, but I believe everybody would forget about it once the game released at 60 FPS.

I hope Arkane didn’t tank their own game smh! With Jedi Survivor and Zelda coming so close to Redfall this may disappear very quickly in the news.

30fps for a standard UE4 game in 2023 when the Series X has been out for 2.5 years is embarrassing. I was on the fence about this game. Definitely avoiding now.

I will still play it - but yeah I am confused why it is 30 fps, all of the images and footage I have seen makes me think they chose the artstyle to save on resources - why are they having issues getting this running at 60 fps?

Explains why we've not seen gameplay on console and I know it's different dev team but can't help but wonder the same for StarField. In the last video where StarField looked like it was running at 60fps or closer to it, did we see a console? Maybe it was just on pc as well? Idk maybe I missed something?

I own all 3 consoles but my sx definitely gets the most use however like Rand said in the video, this feels very misleading and I can't blame anyone who feels this way. It's a shame really... Hopefully they do right and delay it and screw anyone who says well they're doing this because everyone complains there's no game.... wth should we do just sit and say nothing when they give us dates? We're consumers and this is how it is for every industry. This is not the consumers fault.

@@Souls8 I think the best rule of thumb is to assume PC unless told otherwise. Because games are usually tested or even demonstrated their. Unless they say running on "X" platform to get more hype or confidence in the game.

I will not be playing at launch. I would prefer they pushed it back till it was ready. With the worlds most powerful console there has been a lot of let down.

I’ve never really cared if a game was 30 or 60 fps but I agree with you it still is misleading and they should delay it and release a finished game. I’m tired of unfinished games

Was hoping RedFall was going to be a banger. Its looking less and less like it will be.

I get it that visuals sell more copies or game pass subs and they want that. But why couldn't they offer a 60 fps mode like most other games do? This game essentially needs this frame rate to keep people playing it for more than 20 minutes. Now people won't even give it a chance which is disappointing.

I can't believe they would release the game without a 60fps mode.... Why are we all still waiting to see what the series X is capable of...or...is this it! Constant compromises between fidelity, frame rate and ray tracing. This generation feels like it's underpowered and not capable of delivering the advancements possible. My Series X is basically an indie machine at this point. Luckily there are some great smaller games on the platform but it's getting a little ridiculous

Yeah it kind of sucks that there won't be a 60 frames-per-second mode at launch but it's still coming and that's not going to stop me from enjoying the game when it comes out anyways. Although I'll be playing it on PC regardless but if 60 frames is a deal-breaker for you than just play it on the PC until the Xbox version gets patched

I concur with what you have said. I didn't buy a Series X and a tv capable of 120fps to be playing games at 30fps. Yes i get some games are fine at 30fps but a shooter should not be 30fps. The game should be delayed until they are completely happy that they are releasing the best game possible. Xbox for years have been promising games with little to show for it. RROD aside the 360 was my favourite era of Xbox consoles.

You just wonder about the AAA games, there are always mistakes and delays.

I can't see them doing the 12 month format again with so many delays across the board from third and first party. There is just too many things that can happen when a release is only a few months away let alone a year. I mean look at the last 3 years across the entire industry we had games that were less then 3 months out from release seeing 6+ month delays and others seeing a year or more. Ever since Covid it's like almost nobody can get a game out the door on time aside from a few exceptions. I mean just the amount of bugs in games has greatly increased in that time even from studios I expect more from like Insomniac and GG ( I ran in to a ton of bugs in both R&C and Horizon 2)

It still boggles my mind that our next Gen consoles don’t give us 4K 60fps as a standard. Why does there have to be a trade off. Either you choose graphics or you choose performance for higher frames… Why can’t we have both? I want both 4K and 60 fps

because technology doesn't stop progressing? as long as there is PC with new CPU's and GPU's every one to two years, consoles will always have to trade offs in terms of performance vs fedelity

Why does that boggle your mind..the more power you give devs the more they put into games..and performance is the last thing they think about.. Even if consoles had an equivalent gpu to a 4090TI..we would still be having this issue.. The problem I'm having is..why is there no 60 fps performance mode when they clearly have the headroom..if you can do 4k 60..you can do DRS 1800p 60... If you can do 1400p 30..you can Do DRS 1080 60... It doesn't make sense.

Not as simple as you think. PC gaming couldn't achieve a stable raw 4K 60fps in most games until the 30 series (Nvidia), if I'm remembering correctly. The new consoles are only comparable to the 20 series. That and consoles have had to strike a middle ground between price and performance for consumers. There are no PC out there that can hit 4K 60fps without exceeding $1000+.

4k is still hard to process for even the newer GPUs. Especially when you have a $500 system. I'd be fine with up scaled 4k at 60fps. No way we're getting native 4k at medium setting and 60fps.

I'd rather it be delayed. I'm not bothered by it enough to not play it day one at 30 fps, but this is a real bummer for sure. I don't know what's going on with Xbox but they really need to get their shit together already. I want Xbox to be in a better place rather than just perpetually heading toward a better place.

Nah bro if final fantasy 14 an MMORPG THAT CAME OUT IN 2013 can run at 60 fps with 7k ppl aging per server on Ps5 ps4 and pc, can run at 60 fps.......no reason for a first person shooter to not be min 60 fps. You virign ass simp

Xbox is a value brand. It's much more important to refresh the Xbox dollar menu rather than serve a good meal.

All this outrage without, without considering the technical hurdles? CO-OP OPEN WORLD, UNTETHERED. Of course it's 30fps on consoles. That's a lot of bottlenecks for the Series S and X CPU. Not GPU, otherwise the game wouldn't be 4k30 and 1440p30 respectively. It's not a GPU issue, it's CPU and that's a hard thing to conquer. The idea of them delaying RedFall further when Starfield, Diablo IV, and Forza are looming...I dunno just for 60fps? I think this is strictly emotions speaking. Especially as they will be bringing it. It's not like Gotham or Plague Tale where 30 or bust. Just silliness today, though they should have mentioned this news well before today, that I will give anyone as fair criticism.

Maybe it’s just me but 4K is the better version. That being said I hate it that they make us pick between 4K or 60fps. It should always be both!! I want to play with both!

Games in this current generation (I say current generation because the Xbox Series consoles have been out for over two years), should be 4K60 standard in my opinion. The tech in these machines can handle the gameplay and visuals. It seems to me like Xbox wanted to meet that 12 month “promise” with Redfall since they already dropped the ball with Starfield. This game has been rushed out and it’s not complete. I will not be playing at launch. I’ll give it a go when performance mode is patched. Of course this is my opinion, and for those of you who enjoy quality mode, I hope you find the game to be a great experience. Completely agree with Rand, great video!

It’s probably because this is their first game using UE4. Their previous titles used their in-house engine, Void. It’s always the game engine with these types of troubles. Starfields delays are probably due to the upgrade of Creation, Halo Infinite’s delays due to upgraded Slipstream that they’ve now abandoned, Cyberpunk 2077’s trouble was because of upgrading Red Engine, also now abandoned & the list goes on. Studios should stick with what they know until they’ve got time to spend entirely on new tech familiarisation. It’ll be interesting to see how it runs on PC. Void was built around their “water colour” art style & it suited it. I guess UE took some adapting. Everyone should stop announcing games too soon & stop setting unrealistic deadlines. EDIT- I’d rather they just had 1440p @ 60 or even variable res between 1080p & 4K to hold the FPS. Higher settings at a lower res with a higher FPS is always better. Who notices 4K in a shooter anyway. Besides whatever happened to variable rate shading? Wasn’t that supposed to be the panacea for next gen consoles FPS? In the bin with Ray tracing I guess.

I'm playing Redfall on PC so I don't really care about the 30 FPS issue. Yeah, it's dumb but it doesn't mean the game is garbage in the end even if I understand some people wanna wait. When Dishonored 2 first released it received some really bad backlash and reviews because it didn't perform as it should and was considered a technical mess. Some updates later it was considered a masterpiece. I'm hoping it's good, keeping positive.

I don't mind 30 frames per second just as long as it's a smooth 30 frames per second I never noticed the difference between 30 frames and 60 frames per second. So this doesn't affect me if anyone really notices the difference must have really good eye sight or something lol.

sadly I probably won't play until late fall or winter, if that. Zelda Starfield Elden Rjng DLC. Hopefully we'll get 60fps 4k after all that.

Honestly, I Wear Glasses and To Me I Can Barely Tell the Difference Between 30fps vs 60fps, I Mean 60 fps Has Less "Stuttering" But Really When I'm Playing A Game I'm Not Paying Attention To the Frames Per Second, So This 30 fps Is No Big Deal, I Honestly Prefer Quality Mode Anyways.....

I sold my good 4k TV, then paid a LOT to get an LG OLD with 120FPS support, and for what? Now we're not even getting 60FPS? This is unacceptable and Xbox needs to be called out for this bate and switch! I don't want to hear excuses, they were screaming from the rooftops about 120FPS, and now that we got the systems in our homes, it's radio silents.

Hopefully it is actually playable, unlike that Ghost / Tokyo game. The no progress in co-op is horrible, hate games like that.

I'd rather play the game in 720p 60fps than 4k 30. I will never understand why anyone would choose resolution over Frames per second. Arcane still haven't updated Dishonored 2 to 60fps. I loved the first game but turned off the sequel after five minutes because of it.

I can see it now from the Ponies. Red. Fall. Or Redfail? Come on Phil. Don’t let me buy a PS5. I don’t want to be a Pony but waiting for games is tedious.

4K30 is okay.. For CRPG's with turn-based combat. Playing Wasteland 3 right now and having a blast on Series X. But for shooters and especially fps's?? Hell no! WTF were they thinking??

I prefer 60 FPS but if 30 FPS on quality mode is stable i can live with that until they patch the game

What! Story does not work via Co-op? i'm out.... It's getting harder to support MS.

I wished I could tell the difference between 30 and 60fps and can never notice it even side by side so it doesn’t bother me

If the game is shit would 60 fps help I don't think so I'm all about story and gameplay I could care less about the frame rate lmao

@@gondorianslayer4250 lol thats a weak argument. Every single Sony first party game comes with a 60fps mode. Series X is supposed to be more powerful. I play games on switch at 30fps but when I got my Xbox it says 4k 120fps gaming. 30fps especially on a game that doesn't look crazy impressive is unacceptable. I would be contemplating trading in for a PS5 if any of there games interested me.

I'll wait for 60fps. It's on Game Pass so it's not like I'm buying the game anyway
