I just got mine the capsule came the same way. I feel the capsules are just designed poorly. Maybe they need a longer locking groove. I'm going to send mine in for grading and I'm praying it comes back 70 like my quartered arms did. I love this set. My favorite.

That was a long wait, RM lol. Hope it was worth it. The coins are different from other coins i feel. Very unique as a 2 coin set. Hope you get top grade to match your QA, really nice coin. :) Thanks buddy

Royal mint are notorious for there quality control ,I don't think they have any ,it's well known in coin collecting 😳

Yeah, its a shame I only found out after buying proofs. I thought it was only their bullion coins but nope. lol. Are you still buying or stopped purchasing from them now?

Oh no, a cheap piece of plastic should not be spoiling the gorgeous coin, but the coin looks superb. My 5oz has not arrived yet but yea the worry about what condition it is when it comes does spoil the anticipation of such an arrival. Personally i would not want to send the coin back if the coin was in superb condition, i would just ring RM and explain the capule is broke and can they send you out another one, but even then many people will be sending theirs off to be graded and no longer needing the capule so put the feelers out for a spare one.

Cant wait for that video, 🤣 side by side. It is glorious. Mines got a little bit of frosting issues, like 2 dots but I think its liveable as im not grading these now I don't think. Just gonna enjoy them knowing I paid RRP for them. Little bits of frosting is that a deal breaker? Yeah RM said they will send a new capsule out but even then, Im not sure I would want to transfer the coin over as its a proof, lol.

Quality of box capsules are very poor compared to Irish mint. I purchased my first proof coin from the Dublin mint and I was surprised leather box with clasp lock and capsule was high quality plastic. How the H.M Royal Mint cannot provide better quality

I received a 1 oz silver ‘little John’ coin this week and it’s got a very obvious scratch on the coin done with a sharp knife or something plus a few other marks , definitely no quality control whatsoever and even the person putting it into the envelope would have seen it

Not sure if it's just me but seems like nothing but issues with these proof coins from RM recently? Perhaps a negative video is pushed more than a positive one and people are more likely to voice issues but I'm not a gambler and just seems too risky buying this stuff for me. I'd hate to have kept it stored away for years only to open and find it milky or tarnished 😬 Looks like you've got 2 nice looking coins if you can sort the capsule out on the latest

Yeah your not the only one i feel, I think i might get out whiles I still can at the early stage of my collecting proofs coins. Hopefully RM listens to their customers.

That would be not good at all. What makes you say this? I would of thought a machine/robot would pack the coin inside the case? Although it would suggest not..

@@averagestacker i would assume a person does the capsules which is why i think someone does it on purpose, i could be wrong but on some of the proof stuff theres only a hundred or so to do, so surely a person would just do it. wouldn't take much to put a mark on a coin like seen on byb chaps new ones, once coins are struck they are checked and im sure there would be no mark on them, im surprised yours seem fine apart from the capsule, theres a wrongen working in every workplace!

@@averagestacker i was just looking at one of my coins in a capsule and it was about to fall out easilly, wasn't long ago it was hard to open, turns out same capsule i cleaned with toilet roll, its like the dust it left over acted like a lube for it to open easilly! so could happen if someone packed yours wearing gloves and micro hairs got there or something

@@1977JohnBoy Funny enough, I got the empty capsule and screwed it together but now its stuck, lol. I cant unscrew it, these 2oz screw capsules are the worse. They don't fit properly thats why we get dust and bits inside 😭

Those capsules are always problematic. I’ve faced this problem occasionally, and it usually can be unscrewed and screwed back nice and snug and tight.

The capsule is not spoilt or anything - it’s just badly designed. Unless you ask the for a push capsule or the other screw capsule, any replacement they send you of this capsule type will potentially have the same issue. You have to unscrew it, place it in a certain position, and then it screws back properly.

I just usually google that info, I thought it was released in 2021 tbh, did you get the Royal Mint version? I know they do other mint versions of the same coin. Most of the information I find is on the royal mint website👍. Hope you didn't pay too much for it. what you think of the coin?

The Royal Mint was supposed to let me know when these were released as I got the quartered arms , but they said March! so they lied , I also never got the alert by email as stated ! so basically they are telling me to F**k off , maybe because I've had to send back so many damaged coins , and damaged capsules... maybe I'll post all the trash that I've had from the R.M just so people can see for themselves ... but for me this is the final nail in the coffin... R.M tend to just sell to known flippers these days anyway.... to prove a point , I have, just today sent back a coin for the 3rd time because they keep sending scratched proof coins...

Wait what? They didn't contact you? You should of got a option to be able to order the 2nd coin if you bought the 1st from them. Thats unfortunate, 3rd time. I would just give up after the 2nd time and ask for a refund lol. If it wasn't so limited and i didnt have the 1st coin I would be sending this back. But as I am seeing alot of issues with others I think I would get a worse coin back. Which doesn't fill me with confidence in sending this back. Really not good, but I feel RM don't really care to do much about it. Which is worse. Hope you get things sorted.

@@averagestacker No , they didn't contact me , I had many conversations about the half a coin situation .. and I thought I would have had the option to take the second! from conversations via phone ... From what I've been told they will have to re-mint coins... plus also they make more to account for returns , but it seems the Royal Mint have had enough of me... and I think there is a lot of " underhand " practices going on ... for example , I can log on at 7am yet when I'm placed in a queue I'm always near 5,000 in line , when the mintage is always well below that , so I'm not gonna get anything.... Good luck with your collecting and the KZread channel...

When I bought the first coin I was given the option to have an advanced purchase on the second coin which I accepted.I had an email a few days before to say they were taken money out of my account to pay for it which did kind of send me into a tail spin as I have just got over January with no spare cash and I did not want February to be the same rung the mint did have an issue to track down the department which was dealing with it, which is the telesales team who do not answer the phones to anybody bar people who work in the mint. So I am guessing you may have spoken to some one who advices one thing but cannot guarantee the sale. I am sorry to here you missed out.

I think you can hear the disappointment in my voice the more the video went on, coin has multiple pinholes missing frosting on the coin but I feel im stuck with it, as I rather have this than no coin. Hopefully with your feedback things can change, please let me know what they say. I've also had other problem coins and just recently sent back seymour panther 2 coin set too, awaiting what they do with that and decide whether to send this back. Thanks

Its becoming tiresome, lol. Poor quality for sure. Expect better but although theres some little bit of frosting missing, I don't know if that is a deal breaker or not but not having the 2nd coin in the set is probably more of a deal breaker for me and many?
