Tommy said no to joining Sabaton in 2012 when they asked him the first time, because of his own music. They again asked him in 2016, (because they were actually friends with Tommy and that takes priority,) when Thobbe left, he then for whatever reason said yes. I always expected him to leave for his own music once he felt he could risk it... I love the guy, but he's a singer and the kind of creative musician that's never going to be content to do someone else's music forever, even if it would be more profitable with bigger audiences... so, goodluck Tommy😊👍

I'm a fan of Sabaton since 2010. They did had a big line up switch in the past and they did survive that and grew bigger than ayone had expected. But I'm a bigger fan of Majestica!! They saved my life and they still do now. So Majestica has a really big place in my life, in my heart and they have been turning some offers down because it collided with Sabaton at that time. Sabaton had priority cause it payed the bills in the end, and I get that, I really do. But at the other hand it made me a little bit sad and angry. And the last 2 years I did go to Sabaton concerts and the Sabaton cruise but mainly to support Tommy (allthough I really love Sabaton ofcourse). If I couldn't see Majestica on stage than this was the best option I had. So yes I'm happy... I'm happy that Majestica will be number one priority again and there will be new music and a new tour and so much to look forward again. That he can let the world see what an absolute legend he is!! Not only an awesome guitar player in Sabaton but an out of this world singer and frontman. He deserves to be known as that! And I wish him all the best on his journey! I will continue to support him in every way I can!! Sabaton is, like you said, a machine! So they will survive this. Find an awesome replacement for Tommy and they will keep growing. But the most important thing for me is that Majestica will grow too. That they will get bigger, that Tommy's own personal carreer will get bigger and that the whole world will recognize what a pure LEGEND this guy is!! If anyone deserves to be known out there, than it's Tommy Johansson!! Alliance Forever!! ♥♥♥♥

Of course I´m a little sad that Tommy leaves Sabaton, but I´m so much more excited what we´ll possibly see from him in the future. Sabaton will have another great guitarist for sure, And it´s obvious that Tommy will share the stage with his Sabaton family time by time in the future as well. Sabaton existed before Tommy, Sabaton will exist after Tommy. And now we kown who Tommy is! Two bands for the price of one (I hope, depending on what Tommy will do).

I absolutely agree with you. Tommy has to follow his heart so his decision is right. He does not have more time in the day than anyone else, no more days in the week, etc. He is a very good singer and he has Majestica and his covers every Friday. the world is open to Tommy who is the greatest musical genius of our time. I will always be a Sabaton fan and a Majestica fan and Tommy Johansson fan nothing changes. He also needs to have time for family friends, he is only human not superman.

I was shocked, Its good he thought through this decision, that is right for him, live the life he wants to live. We support Sabaton, they're awesome . Decisions can be daunting in his position, I am sure this wasn't easy.

Im sad he’s leaving Sabaton. But with all the creativity he has shown with his covers, i can understand why. So im happy he can follow his heart and focus on Majestica and his own music. And having family time. You can’t burn the candles in both ends,.. So im still supporting Sabaton and Tommy. 😀🇸🇪

Sad news... But we all know that his voice is so wonderful ❤️and unique to just play (such wonderful) the guitar 😞 We wondered how he could manage all these projects the last years! Was not Thobbe, the guitarist before, leaving because time rushes by so fast with Sabaton? Time is to much worth to just rush by!!!⭐️

It surely was a hard decision for Tommy - but his workload has become too heavy, so it was only a question of time for this to happen imo. We are and we stay with him - and we are and stay with Sabaton.

I'm sad Tommy is leaving Sabaton, he has been a great contribution to their journey, but at the same time I - like you - have been wondering how he finds the time for all his projects; Sabaton, Majestica, his own YT channel and more. So, in the end it's really no surprise and I'm in a way glad he takes a step back and follows his heart, focusing on what he loves the most. Yes I was wondering how Tommy was managing to juggle all those plates. Sad to see him stepping down from Sabaton but very happy he is doing what’s right for him. He’s got a brilliant voice and a strong work ethic - he’ll do great with the things he is continuing with. Totally behind him.

I'm sad that I won't get the chance to see the current Sabaton line up play live ever. But....I am one of the people who have been waiting for this to happen. Sabaton is good, but I am a Majestica fan through and through. Sabaton will go on and continue to be awesome, and my favourite band is working on a new album. Maybe the stars will align and I'll even get to see them live in the near future

After seeing his Christmas video, which showed what a franatic year he'd just had, I wondered how on earth he could fit everything in and not burn out - there seemed to be no time for a personal life which is vital to stay grounded and sane - let alone rested. Although it's a shock, it's understandable, and my heart is big enough for all of them .. Sabaton, Tommy and Majestica.❤

I hope this mean more Majestica music and tour (and not just xmas music) as I really like Majestica’s music. The only bummer is that I never will experience Tommy in a Sabaton show. Do I still want to go to one, yes. But I was a Tommy and Majestica fan before I found Sabaton. I do like the cover videos as well but new interesting original music is bigger so that is why I hope more time is spent on Majestica.

Just yesterday I was watching a bunch of Sabaton videos from different eras/constellations of the band, and thought "I really love the current band members and hope they all stay together for a long time," so seeing this today was definitely a bit rough. But at the same time I have a huge amount of respect for Tommy and wish him all the best with his other endeavours.

It's It's not a total surprise, seeing the committment that Tommy has made to his own channel, Majestica growing etc. Loving all parties for their separate styles of music I can only wish the best for all parties and that they part friends, able to meet up now and then without hard feelings.

I discovered Tommy and Sabaton by chance 14 months ago and learned to love them. But I am of the opinion, that nothing happens in life purely by chance.😉 I've always admired Tommy more and more, how he handles this workload.🫶👏 Every friday I looked forward to a new song, but I kept having mixed feelings. It was unimaginable to me how he could do justice to Sabaton, the tours, Majestica, the videos, the many small projects, his fans and his family. I first got to know Tommy on KZread with Majestica and then, because of him, Sabaton. Tommy's musical talent is impressive. Tommy, just him alone, makes a whole rock band. From the drums to the lead vocal. He plays all the instruments that a rock band needs. And he proves it every Friday on his KZread channel. Also during the American tour!! Most recently, at the Sabaton Cruise concert, in addition to the guitar, he also sang instead of Joakim, and not for the first time. He saved the show. He is a unique person, musician. Have you heard and seen Tommy's 2022 Christmas calendar? In 24 days, 24 Christmas music covers. Absolutely amazing. And you say it well Old Skule Nerd: The moment of choice has come... My private opinion is that Tommy made the right choice. Tommy will be missed at Sabaton, but he will be there in many, many other places instead. And it will be better for us fans that way.... The Hellfest 2019 concert, when Joakim lost his magnificent voice, was saved by Tommy and Chris. Tommy has his great voice, and Chris' voice is so cool, gruff, and metal. They both saved the Sabaton Cruise, with, as Joakim pointed out, also saved by Pär and Hannes. Looking forward to all the great music from these guys.

I totally get it! I listen to Majestica, Sabaton and Tommys covers on fridays, I was thinking, how the hell has he got time for all of this?! I will still listen to Sabaton and Majestica. I have to say I am so lucky I went on Sabaton cruise in December. First time for me. Joakim was ill so Tommy and Chris had to sing both nights. I loved to hear Tommy sing!! That was special! Followed Tommy way before Sabaton, when he "Leo'd" Swedish Hits to Metal (Abba, Ace of Spades, etc.) in the early 2010th. Called him my Swedish cousin w/o a beard because of looks and BMI. All the best to him, still rooting and following him!

I loved Sabaton before the Tommy era and I loved Tommy during ReinXeeed. And my heart, there are two separate places for Tommy (Majestica and all his Friday songs) and Sabaton. Two stars met and created something special. Now they continue their separate ways, and we again have two stars in the Music Constellation that will bring us double joy from now on. Hey man, I met you after the concert in Houston last year. :) By the buses. I was a big Tommy fan before he joined Sabaton, and always been a Sabaton fan before TJ. - I wanted to CRY when I heard the news, BUT given Tommy's own projects, I figured this was some sort of "time" issue, ( second law of economics, tradeoffs). There are only so many hours in a day, and Tommy has his own gig going on and that is understandable. I love Sabaton, met Joakim and Par, GREAT guys!!! Tommy sent me a personal thank you, because I made a video called TOMMY JOHANSSON- GREATEST MUSICIAN OF THE 21ST CENTURY. He loved it, it has 10K views. - But I wish Sabaton and Tommy the best. Swedes always join and quit each others bands. Then they do performances with each other, and guest performances. Band switching, joining, leaving left and right. It's a Swedish thing. :) We wish them ALL the best. Let Tommy go, and he can always come back and throw down a guest performance. I was kinda hoping they would bring Thobbe back. I'm bummed and sad, but happy for ALL of them. I will always support Tommy, and Sabaton. GREAT MUSICIANS. GREAT HUMAN BEINGS TOO. He has told multiple interviewers that he's probably not going to stay with Sabaton forever and that it would be fine by him if he only were able to record music on his own and not tour, at least not with two bands. I always thought he would be the first to quit, but this came sooner than I thought

Of course, we can only support Tommy's choice. But I can’t even imagine who can replace him? But this is his choice, and we must respect it. But for some reason I’m crying. I can't imagine Sabaton without Tommy. I'm sure everything will be great for Tommy, it should be great. He is an excellent musician, singer and composer. And we all believe in him.

@MAGNATEO I've been listening to Sabaton for almost 20 years. But it was precisely this time, when Tommy played in Sabaton, that became the best for me. That's all. I completely agree that Carolus Rex and Heroes are great albums, but it was Tommy's guitar that made them sound even better in my opinion.

You're right, especially in your verbs: Tommy "loves." And for all of them, they will still be young men in 10, 20, even 30 years, still in the prime of their music, still loving their music. And yes, will miss the Tommy and Chris dynamic!

My wife and I have been to 6 Sabaton shows so far, here. I'm sure they'll get someone as good as Tommy. Sabaton ALWAYS gets the best talent for the band. While we'll be sad to see him go, the band is still in good hands. 🤘😎

Could see this coming but hopefully he won't regret his decision!! I understand he wants to spend more time concentrating and recording etc with Majestica and other projects. Majestica are great band but they will never get much bigger than they already are. And as good a singer as Tommy is, and i love him and Sabaton he isnt at his best singing live😔 He is a phenomenal musician no doubt about it and as i said can sing great but not just as good live. For a long time he has been taken on too much, Sabaton, Majestica, other projects, KZread etc. Too much for one person!! At the end of the day it is his decision and life. I will continue to love Sabaton and love/follow Tommy on his new path. Firstly, Tommy is a grown up and not for 1 minute do I think this was an easy decision. Having an abundance of talent he cannot explore to the full due to many commitments must be soul destroying. Whatever the future holds for him at least he will be in full control. I believe he will NOT regret this decision and I think you underestimate his fan base who fortunately have more belief in him than you seem to have. No offence.

I only mean that I doubt any of his new or existing ventures will be as big as Sabaton. But as long as he is happy with that, great.And as you say he has total control over his ventures!! I'm in no way underestimating Tommy, he is a phenomenal musician and good confident singer as I said in my previous comment!! I just hope he has made the right decision for himself and doesn't ever regret it. I'm sure as he said it was very difficult and hardest decision he has ever made. I have every confidence that whatever Tommy does next will be fantastic 🤘🤘🎸🎸. I have been a Heavy Metal fan from 1977, been to Hundreds of Metal/Rock concerts over years in various countries!! @OldSkuleNerd They are both going to be great. I very much appreciated the graceful, respectful joint communication regarding the changes. I dont think of it as a "breakup" at all. More of a paths going in different directions. Following your heart when able to is a beautiful thing. Been supporting both (all 3 with Majestica) since first finding out about all of them mid last year and will continue to do so . I was musically in a coma, not listening to anything for a couple decades. I have a lot of catching up to do.❤️🤘Thanks for introducing us to new bands and sharing your perspective and thoughts.

I think it's less about his YT channel and more that he got to a point where he had to choose: Sabaton or Majestica. Keeping up with 2 touring bands, one of them huge , is impossible. I had a feeling something like this might happen ever since that cancelled Majestica tour, I just hoped they would find another solution. As sad I am for Sabaton, I'm glad he's putting Majestica first again

I’m happy his going for majestica and are back on track from 2014 again .. but Sabaton has been such a blessing from that time on and I am forever grateful to have been able to tag along and experience it ( actually found Tommy thorough Sabaton ..have followed them for a long time .. I grew up like 40 km from Falun)

You put words on my feelings. its like when Marco left Nightwish, something will be missing but the heart and soul will be there. The stage interaction in sabaton will be different, but the music will go on. i hope every one realize that Tommy now take a little step out in the unknown, 200k on on the tube should be 500k. will we support him, självklart!! will we support sabaton, Absolut! the sad thing is that my favorite guy know is leaving my favorite band,. hopefully this will open for Tommy and Floor go make magic toghter! thanks for your honest and emtional reaction

His guitar tone will be missed with Sabaton but I’m still a huge fan of the band. Tommy will now be able to thrive in his own musical journey. He is just so talented in so many ways I’m excited for both of them to continue to make amazing music.

It's sad for sure. But shocking..? NO... As soon as he started his youtube stuff and with Majestica in mind this was a sure set outcome i my mind.

Wow, that's a shock. I'm glad he chose this thing to move away from though. In his solo work or in Majestica he's irreplaceable, but Sabaton could still make amazing music without him, as they did before he joined. It may not quite be the same but it's a smaller loss than his other projects

I wish Tommy good luck. I love him, and I love Sabaton. But, @OldSkuleNerd, there is something I just noticed in THIS video. There is a plushy(?) behind your chair, next to the OSN-sign. Last week "No easy way out" gets another meaning... It is a loss to see Tommy leave Sabaton, but I fully understand him, he has been great with and for Sabaton, but it was kind of wasting his other talents and creativity. Saying no to his (probably) largest source of income to chase his dreams is the right move at this point and deserves some respect. Sabaton helped Tommy and vice versa, now is a new chapter coming. Life happens.

Tommy always was overqualified for Sabaton... And I'm sure they will go seperate ways 🎤 as friends...❤️👍

Tommy's vocal talent was wasted in Sabaton, but he was an amazing fit with great charisma and chemistry. I am happy for Tommy and sad at the same time.

Not even slightly surprised; for all the reasons in the video. But the further warning sign was the lack of writing credits on the last album.

Yes, the no credits IS telling because the reason Tommy has no writing credits on their newest album is because he never had the time to meet up with Joakim when Joakim came from Norway to Sweden and put out a general "who want's to meet" group text. Tommy was according to interviews by both Tommy and Joakim always doing something else at the time... Those times are when Joakim & Chris wrote basically all of the music Chris has a credit on.

@@miiah7475 Yes, it's been great to see Chris writing more music for the albums, and looking for more from him. Sabaton has so much talent and energy, but no one can keep going at their pace without some time off. I was glad that they had Fall 2023 as "down" time, as they were working so hard. They all have amazing energy, but again, only so many hours in the day.

I think the reason it was Sabaton he left is that its where he is the least creative. Lyrics are by Jocke and or Per, music usually by Jocke, and only occasionally by Tommy or Chris. So Majestica and KZread is where Tommy can be Tommy. In Sabaton he has to be Sabaton.

Hi, it almost sounds like you've developed a more personal relationship with TJ considering, among other things, the tour visit and all the very positive opinions about him as a musician and a person. Think you should nag him a little about do your favorite song "interpretation" that you mentioned to me/us before actually. Otherwise good job as usual. Sincerely Kent

I knew this was coming. Tommy does his thing . But he will do great no matter what.

I'm not a fan of cover songs in generell. I love me a few amazing Tribute songs. Easy for me to say, if he had to quitt one or maybe two of his projects, wich i personaly support (workaholics, make up your minds), than i thought he would say goodbye to KZread Cover Channel, instead of his brothers. To expans his creativity, Sabaton has more to offer as such covers, where the most part is allready created, like the melodies, the lyrics. He just have to give his personal Touch to it. If thats really full filling him, ok. He knows best how to go on. And i wish him all the best. One thing i have say, Thank You, Tommy for honoring your (and of course mine too) Inspiration and Idol, Mr. Gary Moore..

It's pretty much why Chris quit everything else within a few months of joining Sabaton.

Yes, in one of his interviews online, Chris mentioned that you can't be in two bands. I'll miss the Tommy and Chris chemistry, but am so glad that Chris is staying and Sabaton carries on.

The sad part of it all is that a large part of sweden`s population does not know who Tommy Johansson is... BUT if you know Sabaton you might know who he is. 6 months ago I didn`t know who he was either.... Back then he was just a guitarist who appeared in their music videos.

Im not suprised even if Tommy live 24/7 for music he is to good just be a guitarist in Sabaton he is to creativ he need be a front man sing and make own music Majestica gives him that good luck Tommy Johansson!🤘

For selfish reasons I think everyone is upset about this news but if we are to put Tommy's well-being first then its great news for his future singing career!

I'm a big fan of Sabaton and especially Tommy J. It's a huge loss to see him leave. But. If we're being honest, he's too good for Sabaton. He is a musical genius and he doesn't reach his full potential in a group like Sabaton. I understand him and I support him in what he does. As a Swede, you are proud of what he gives audiences around the world. And we will be seeing and hearing a lot more of this musical wonder in the future.

One of the things that amazed me about my first Sabaton concert was how Joakim, Pär, Chris, and Tommy connected with the audience with the first notes (after the headbanging part of Ghost Division:) (And of course Hannes, on the Audie tank). I've been to lots of concerts, and had never seen anything like the direct and engaged attention to the fans. As many people write, looking forward now to more great music.

Exactly one year ago today I lost the love of my life in an accident, and this year we all lost Tommy in Sabaton. This date is cursed.

I'm sad today, but the parting doesn't mean that Sabaton nor Tommy will disappear. I'm sure positive things will come from this.
