basically Sacrifice or korban (Malay) / qurban (Arabic) in Hari Raya Haji (Eid ul Adha) usually with livestock animals, either camel (can be share to 7 parts / persons), cow & buffalo (shareable to 7 parts / persons), goat & sheep (not shareable, 1 person per animal).. minimum age for animals: • camel - min. 5 years old, • cow & buffalo - min. 2 years old, • goat - min. 2 years old, • sheep - min. 1 year old, the animals must be healthy, no disease, no ill, the body must be in perfect condition, cannot too skinny.. male & female is acceptable, but female animal cannot choose the pregnant female and cannot choose the female that nurses (milky) it's baby.. that's why male animal is preferred.. one more thing, the Sacrifice is NOT for God, but 'for the sake of God'.. God doesn't need food, infact He is The One who give us food, give us lives (as mentioned in the Qur'an).. Sacrifice / Qurban is not compulsary, but strongly encouraged to Muslims who are able to do so (have extra money to buy goat, cow, etc ).. among the benefits are to help the poor, strengthen community relationships and to express our gratitude for God's blessings..

First time watching the sacrifice can be a jarring experience, but there are lessons to be taken there. Appreciating where the food and sustenance is coming from is one thing. Facing the real cycle of life and death is another.

on the first day of Selamat Hari Raya Haji non-muslim cannot eat the Sacrifice cow or goat, only 2nd day they can eat it cos happen to me before

​@@muhammad11ali11actually not just on the first day but all through the 4 days of the celebration. The sacrificed animals strictly cannot be offered to non Muslims. They can eat other meats that are not slaughtered specifically for the korban.

About non muslims eating the meat from ritual sacrifice, there are different opinions from the major school of thoughts, but according to a fatwa by MAWP, it's fine. No need for hair splitting.

Islam is a big family, so giving and charity are encouraged, and we are to honour guests !

I still remember my first time also i cried so much thinking about the cows 😭 but i as i grow olders, i get used to it and think about the cause. To give food to the poor peoples and appreciate food ❤.

As a muslim, we don't sacrifice cow and goat for God. God (Allah) don't need blood and flesh from animals. But, Allah rewards the honesty and taqwa. That is why we should choose the best animal as we can for sacrifice. The meat is donated to the poor, we eat together and share happiness together. These are the values we have during Eidhil Adha.

実際にハリ・ラヤ・ハジの雰囲気を感じて凄くいい体験だなぁと思います。初めて牛が切られるの見て少し不快な感じがあるんじゃないかなと思います。私は子供の頃に凄く怖くて見えないようにいつも手で目を閉じようとした。でも今もう慣れてきて、そのやる意義が分かるようになった。ヒロナちゃんとユキナちゃんが楽しんで新しい文化を経験することをとても尊敬します！！

It's okay to be afraid+shock for the first timer to see such an event. As a Muslim myself, I faced it when I was a kid. That's normal because at that time, with my limited knowledge, to think is as cruelty against the animal barely forged into my mind. But, as I grew older, I learnt that it gives more benefits to society, especially for people experiencing poverty.

It must have been difficult But, the ritual signifies the sacrifice (like Abraham following the test by God to give his precious son , Ismael) . Similarly for muslim, the meat is to be divided , shared with every walk of life as a proof of our sacrifice for the sake of God.

Hi yukina. You looked so worried during the slaughter. However, the cow is slaughtered using the sharpest knife so it experience the least of pain. It's scientifically proven and you can Google it. So no worry ya.
