He really didn't do a 1-4-5 in a dramatic way. You're supposed to get the beat going and then move up to the 4 chord really get rolling and so on through the 12 bars.

Remember please...great societies are usually remembered because of their music and art. I have yet to hear an anthropologist speaking to the media about discovering math ditto sheets that show us what an amazing culture must have existed at that location. Raise our kids to explore life. Teach our kids to always learn and never be afraid to grow and try new things. This man is the perfect model of what our school teachers should embrace. Well done.

I walked into the YMCA in Dallas Texas when I was seven years old, to take my swimming lesson, and there was a man all alone in a big room playing Boogie Woogie on the piano - and I was transfixed to the spot! The power of its rhythm captivated me, and unknown to that Boogie Woogie piano player, I was to become a lifelong professional drummer, eventually playing with many of my jazz idols. Boogie Woogie is actually a style of 12-bar blues, and as such is the foundation of much of our American rhythm & blues, jazz, and rock & roll.

Excellent! I love boogie woogie, swing dancing music! It's so much fun to dance to, my friends and I use to dance to it at a few clubs in the Los Angeles and the Hollywood area, there were so many places with different kinds of music from the regular dance music and Salsa dancing, that was also fun to dance to! Thank you for sharing! And I love how the girls and their moms were in awe of your piano playing, I hope you get to take your piano playing around the world! (Of course when this world is back to normal and safe out there)! 😁

This is my favorite Dr K video. The mothers expressing such uninhibited joy, the bold uniqueness of the oldest girl declaring she knows where middle C is and her sister joining in, both giggling at Dr K fumbling to find it. Did you notice at the very end the little sister tapping a few notes of Ode to Joy? I wonder what's become of them. It's a shame the mums don't comment or even if they know this video has posted.

What a way to bring fun and joy to so many! I was watching the Mickey Mouse show one afternoon on a Saturday back in the 50's when a group came on a played some boogie woogie on accordions. I thought that was soooooo cool that I got my parents to let me take accordion lessons. The first music was boogie woogie! Went from there to the organ and piano which helped me with learning typing in high school. Got wounded in the war and can't play, but I really enjoy this!!!! I will bet people are still smiling after they get home, and perhaps banging out some new tunes!

I worked with a guy at a metal fabrication shop and he was a bit of a drinker and did a lot of drugs and was constantly in trouble with the law but he was super talented. He was a hell of a machinist and could draw and paint pictures like a pro. He also had no drivers license and I dropped him off at his house where he lived with his grandma and I walked inside and there was this really nice piano and always said he could play but I never knew he could really play, anything from classical like Beethoven and stuff on the radio Billy Joel, Elton John and anybody else you can think of. Just goes to show you that you can't judge a book by it's cover and everybody is given some type of gift. He also had what seemed like a million dollar collection of comic books like early Spider man, Batman and figurines, lots of Star Wars and things from the 1800's. He always complained about money but would never sell anything.

I like that he quite musically demonstrated what The Ode to Joy means... "all men are brothers in joy"... music is such universal joy. Speaking for myself, I started piano lessons 3 weeks ago, and Ode to Joy is the first piece I deciphered and tried to play, in a very simplified beginner's version. And it's, in my opinion anyway, the most beautiful thing ever written and the one single piece of music that should be saved, if all music was to disappear. And it rocks as boogie woogie too ! Yeah for Ludwig Van B !!!

But her face at the piano when you started to play was priceless." 2.
