The big key to understanding Under the Pink is the general theme of what women go through, and sometimes what women do to other women. This song would have fit in well in the Me Too Movement, as you may notice it talks about what men with power put women through, and seems to reduce their nasty little proclivities into farce, making these powerful men seem childish. "It's the dog trainer again...", a not-so-subtle allusion to BDSM, "...he says that he thinks she needs more hands", if you're on-the-other-hand-ing people too much, you're just making excuses for bad behavior, and you might run out of hands.

I always refer to BfP as her harpischord punk era. It's my favorite still after all these years.
