What's up, folks! I'm back with another Tragically Hip reaction from the Yer Favourites compilation (2005), and this time we listen to "Boots and Hearts," another tune with folk-rock stylings and lyrics that I didn't quite anticipate with my pre-listen title-speculation, though I enjoyed what I caught on this first hearing. As always I love your take on Hip songs and this one is no different. Apparently this is about a failed relationship, mostly likely a romantic relationship. I always took as two people who don't see eye to eye on certain fundamental beliefs which of course can lead to a breakdown in a relationship, romantic or otherwise. I also love you are really getting the campfire feel off of some of their songs, which is appropriate for this past Canada Day weekend. Happy Belated to all the Canucks out there ya hosers! Hope you went for a good rip just given'er pounding back a two-four. Okay I'm done haha! And David come back, we miss your insight and comments!
This is a very popular early Hip track, but a bit schticky for me. They used to have 1 or 2 campfire songs on each of the early albums. Never a favourite of mine, but certainly a song that is popular and a big hit at concerts
