What's up, folks! I'm back with a soundtrack reaction, specifically to one of the more famous songs from the epic and highly enjoyable musical The Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber (1986), specifically "All I Ask of You," a song featuring Sarah Brightman as Christine and Cliff Richard as Raoul (though only on the soundtrack; the original actor playing Raoul in the musical was Steve Barton). Oh buddy you gotta watch the movie adaptation! It's my wife's favorite musical. It's really good and well casted. Their singing is phenomenal and the whole esthetic is beautiful. Highly recommend watching it, it won't disappoint

This is so lovely. I saw Phantom in Toronto at Pantages Theatre (now Ed Mirvish) as a teen back in the 80's. I do believe Colm Wilkinson played the role of Phantom.
Beautiful song, it was strange for us Brits to see Michael Crawford singing, as he was more known as an actor in a comedy series, "Some Mother's Do Have 'Em", playing Frank Spencer with a very feigh, almost camp voice. In the show he also did all his own stunts. He had appeared in some British musical movies too but it was a completely different style to this

Torn here. Because I got to see it live in NYC....AFTER they changed the original cast. And then, there's Roger Waters: 🎼We cower in our shelters with our hands over our ears Lloyd-Webber's awful stuff runs for years and years and years An earthquake hits the theatre But the operetta lingers Then the piano lid comes down And breaks his fucking fingers It's a miracle
Beautiful! I didn´t know Sir Cliff sang a "Phantom" song. I´m particularly familiar with the superb title track.

Yes, it was, that's the Phantom-voice I always think of, and the one on this soundtrack. But this song doesn't feature the Phantom, its Raul with Christine.
