That's what I luv about Duran Duran they always give there tracks different vibes with there instruments and Simon vocals can always change ya never get bored with um and there live shows epic awesome amazing band 🎉🎉🎉I avent listened to this version for many years and still luv it 🎉🎉🎉

Love everything about this live performance and it reinforces the uniqueness of Simon's vocal delivery and Duran's creativity. I agree with ronfarney6477, you never get bored with this band. I am also appreciating Warren and his contributions more and more.

Simon added a spoken part when he performed this live in 1998 and 2000. Check out the live performance from Wembley Arena in 1998. Warren Cuccurullo gave this song an ethereal ambiance with his guitar playing on this Pleasure Island version. When Duran Duran performed this song live in 2022, the band went back to the original version. There is another version that can be found on Danse Macabre, and it is reworked as "Secret Oktober 31st" and opens with the sound of someone winding up a music box, which could be a subtle reference to Roxy Music's "Spin Me Round" from their Manifesto album. The live performance from Wembley 1998 is probably the best version of this song ever, magnetic and magnificent in all its parts!

Would love to hear this version recorded properly in the studio as it's a beautifully sombre arrangement and one of the things that I miss most about not having Warren in the line up anymore. The 1998 Wembley version that you can find on KZread is the best I've heard for the music but like all the bootlegs the overall quality just doesn't do it justice.

Your reaction to "Secret Oktober" was the reason I came across your channel in the first place as it is so far from the usual suspects most people react to when it comes to Duran Duran. I think this one is the best version of this song. I also wish they had recorded it in a studio at the time. At least we have the Pleasure Island recording. Before that I needed to watch it on KZread.

@@invisible2621 Thanks, this and the HOB recording were the ones I came back to when I wanted to hear it. I wouldn't mind if they released it on CD/DVD. I'd buy it right away.

@@sebzematik I agree, never say never but they missed the chance when they decided to redo the song for Danse Macabre album with Andy, I can understand the reason and it makes much sense if we think that the original song was done by Simon and Nick in one night without any contribution of the others members. Still the 97/98 version remains the best one in my opinion!

I don't think I ever heard the original, but I liked this live performance, even though the sound isn't great. It's like you said, slow, heavy, even languid, and I like that. 😉 I have to check out the original when I can. Lucca is sooooo sweet! ❤ When she looks up at you she is at her most adorable. 😘

Best version is the Danse Mcarbe album they elevated a great song . The live version seems depressed
