Shnootz - Reaction Video (Agnetha Faltskog - Once Burned, Twice Shy)

What's up, people! I'm back with another Agnetha Falskog tune from her 1983 album Wrap Your Arms Around Me (shout-out to Chafic!), and this time we listen to the wonderful "Once Burned, Twice Shy," a song I can certainly feel on an emotional level, and Agnetha's vocals sound lovely here as you might expect. So join me for another cool track that continues my excitement for the ladies' solo material, and shout-out to Robert of the future deep-dive of Benny & Bjorn's stuff. Cheers!

I had already written , the chorus is Smokie from Next door to Alice song’s fame and this record was produced by Blondie’s same producer Mike Chapman

Matt ! I truly hope and wish someone will find a way to give you access to the Agnetha and Frida solo material prior and during their ABBA years 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Also please consider the ABBA Twinkle twinkle little star medley track 🎶😊

Hi Matt, how are you? Fantastic, you told the Agnetha's surname correctly :) This tune is very interesting although I prefer the title's album song. Have a nice weekend Matt.

Я как иностранка не вникала в текст песни, но звучание, мелодия, голос меня завораживают

Not sure if you have done ABBA- Hovas Vittne, but worth checking out.

ABBA recorded this melodic folk/pop banger in Swedish as a tribute to their manager Stig Andersson for his 50th birthday. Only 300 vinyl copies were pressed and given to the guests invited to his party, but they also wore their 'Waterloo'' outfits from 7 years prior for a campy tongue-in-cheek play on his role in their success. It's bombastic, melodic, and pure joy! Could've been a hit if recorded in English and given a proper release, but the 'Hovas Vittne' video is well worth watching.on KZread.

I think one of my issues with this solo album is that all the "Swedishness" has been taken out of the production. The uniqueness of ABBA is missing, and what's left is just a collection of random 80s pop songs

I couldn’t agree more…..I remember when this record first came out and I was listening to it for the first time it was by this song that I had to reluctantly admit how mediocre it was…..and I am a HUGE Agnetha fan. It didn’t seem to have any of the charm that I so typically associated with her. Even her earlier self written solo work seemed to have so much more personality to it. I don’t think Chapman did anything to push her out of her comfort zone….he didn’t even bring in any of the swagger one might associate with Blondie nor the tongue in cheek pop-glam of his work with Nicky Chinn and early Sweet. It’s just Wonder Bread bland. The only possible exclusions might be Mr Persuasion and Man but even those ended sounding tumble dried into polyester blandness. She has a couple of interesting moments on her next album with Click Track And We Move As One but it wouldn’t be until her self produced My Colouring Book do we really get any impression of her putting any actual skin into the game. To me that is her penultimate solo album. Here is where the rubber meets the road and we finally get her chewing up the scenery with What Now my Love and Sometimes When I’m Dreaming. That is Agnetha at her best
