You know. I'd use to respect Sands as I thought he stood for a United Ireland. But then I found out through further research the man was a Marxist. I like this song but even the chicken supper song is better. Neither is as good as michael stone, Billy's on the wall or Armagh brigade.

What's even funnier is that the very first dealings Ireland had with England was when Hiberni (Irish) chief called MacMurrough, ran cap in hand to Henry II of England to beg for help against Irish rivals that had taken his lands. And he got more than he bargained for in the shape of the Earl of Pembroke/Strongbow and his mercenaries in 1169, followed by Henry himself two years later. Doesn't seem to fit in with Irish republican history though does it? Adrian IV donated the land off to Henry II.
