The Shitaya Shrine Festival, considered the earliest summer festival in the downtown area, has a history of over 1,000 years and is held every other year with the "Main Festival" in which the shrine's portable shrine is carried, and the "Kage Festival" in which only the neighborhood association's portable shrine is carried. Since the "Main Festival" will be held in 2018, the shrine's portable shrine will be carried by 7,000 people through the parishioners' area on Sunday, May 13th.
