@@sardonicspartan9343 I'm actually growing more and more convinced that AK doesn't actually like the tech/space bits, so he does as little with them as possible. Hence the inconsistent imagery, poor ship models we never get clear shots of, the tardis turbolifts, etc. The show seemingly exists for Michael Burnham, and the other characters just help her, and the ships are there because they have to be.

Its a real shame that Star trek enterprise never got a s5 as if it did we def would of reach the earth-romulan war era and it would of been a massive hit as by s4 the series really got its foot in the door.

Personally, I was more a fan of S3 (Season 4 seemed too much of "how many TOS prequels can we do" IMnsHO); but I do agree, they had gotten their footing- and the Earth/Romulan War would've made the most sense for S5 (thru 7), and I am rather annoyed we didn't get it.

Yeah. Star Trek has a big hole in the lore called the Earth-Romulan War and the series covering that era got cancelled before they even got to it. The Eugenics War is another big empty space in the lore where we only get glimpses of how Augments waged war on humanity.

The Aurora is a refitted Monitor-class gunship, formerly used during the Earth-Romulan War. (Star Trek: Aurora)} Created by Tim Vining. This is a fantastic animated fan offering & there were only two of the Monitor class gunships specifically created for the Romulan War. It would be fun seeing them in a fight! I agree with Foley that the Romulan ships here, and the ones in Enterprise, look too advanced for their era. That said, they are beautiful ships. Well done. I know that fighters are generally considered a bad idea in Star Trek, but I'd like to point one thing out. It doesn't matter what size the ship that launches the torpedo is so long as the torpedo hits. Here on Earth we had Torpedo Boats. They were cheap, agile, could get close enough to launch a torpedo... and that's all they needed to do. The Destroyer class of ship originally comes from Torpedo-Boat Destroyers. Destroyers gained agility by being small ships (though still ships, so a lot larger than a Torpedo Boat) and they were heavily armored... but they were only armed well enough to destroy Torpedo-Boats. Basically, their entire purpose was to defend the fleet against Torpedo Boats, rather than take on other ships. Building a Fighter-Destroyer for Fleet engagements might be an interesting addition to the Star Fleet ships, as a response to the Reman Fighters. Maybe something like a refit of that Delta Warp Ship from the older video on this, designed to go into atmosphere if needed.

okay, I officially want at least ONE pioneer to be a Q-Ship, especially as it's already been established in the first film and various mini-features that they use armed freighters. Pioneer is the perfect big fat slow target. So fill her up with guns and torps and wait with a fleet in ambush.

Glad to see Mark return! I'm sort of surprised Trek Yards hasn't covered the TRW release by now. I suppose DISCO takes priority. Well, it's a great production, and certainly a lot of ships to look at! The Romulan War and ENTERPRISE have proven to be mind bending concepts in that aspects of them distort canon from TOS and certainly what my own head-canon of what might be expected at this point in time. Basically, the tech seen in TOS was established and rugged, but--but just a few decades earlier, it the situation would have been rather different. Ships would have been, should have been, slower, probably smaller, technology less advanced and so on. PACIFIC 201 is about right for what I would think 2200 would have been like in terms of technical advancement. ENTERPRISE just seems too advanced. This is not to say that I don't like ENTERPRISE, and in many ways, my head canon HAD to change as the show did actually fix other issues, but certainly some mistakes were made. The Romulans had not degenerated technically, and had warp capable and refined looking vessels (that could cloak!). That was a big step. If the Romulans HAVE an interstellar empire and warp capable ships, it doesn't bother me if they are refined and they have multiple classes of ships and an implied history. They've been is space for many centuries after all. With that in mind, that ships might look too advanced is less problematic. This is a big change from canon, but it's already baked in with ENTERPRISE. It makes more sense for earth the fledging multi stellar world to be struggling against an aggressive and superior empire rather than an interplanetary, single system civilization with a bad attitude. So, the Dragon and Centurion classes don't bother me that much. Fighters don't make a lot of sense in Star Trek, it is true. But when used against non military targets or less advanced peoples, they can be devastating. Suicide runs against larger ships can be effective against even giant, powerful, and advanced ships as we've seen with the Odyssey vs. Dominion scarabs after all. I'm not too keen on the Einstein class to out this early, it would seem more like an early 23rd Century ship. The single nacelle design looks like it would go with a design strategy of the Hermes and Saladin classes. I do like the work done to make it consistent with this era. The half saucer design makes it look like a non-martial sister ship of the Intrepid design. The Daedalus class is great! Given the realities of ENTERPRISE, it makes sense that it is an earlier ship, the ship of Star Fleet before the Warp 5 engine had been achieved, or even multi warp factors had been perfected. They should arguably be common. The Intrepid, the Franklin, maybe even the warp delta classes are less than 20 years old. The Daedalus being large enough to be useful, small enough to nimble (and martial) in ways ships like the Pioneer class couldn't. While ships like the Conestoga class certainly look more 'Trek', the Pioneers are fine as old colonizer ships. These interstellar earth colonies could have never been populated and developed so much from use of the Conestoga ships alone. Their size and bulk have a different flavor, but they also evoke a different era of space exploration.

Really liking the new designs, and the new takes on old ones. Gotta check out thye fan film soon. One point of contention though. Interstellar Ballistic Missile doesn't really work. Specifically the ballistic part. ICBM's basically use all their fuel getting up to speed and then are essentially unpowered projectiles like bullets that are under the force of gravity. Not really gonna apply in ship to ship. Small thing, but it bugged me.

You mention the Remuns as a basically suicide warriors. While no offense is meant, in WW2 the Japanese Imperial Marines were much the same way. According to my father (an Army Medical Tech in So.Pacific), they took death before dishonor quite seriously. One finished himself off that had somehow been captured by eating a glass thermometer . If you have seen the film HACKSAW RIDGE, you have an idea of what I mean of the Japanese soldiers of that period, please note. I seem to recall seeing a DAEDALUS class ship with the much more barrel-shaped body in someone's ready room, possibly Sisko's, but I'm not sure. Regardless, I like this version quite a bit.

It's always been the case in Trek that warheads for photon torpedoes can be "dialed in" for different explosive yields. It's also likely that, just like with real-life nukes, photon torps are more destructive on a planet than they are in space due to pressure waves and combustion that can't expand in a vacuum. #TheMoreYouKnow

Also the bridge blister's too UFP. I think the proportions are too long for the saucer hull... maybe have more of the outer hull form from the top and bottom, maybe going more towards the Andorian longer forward hull and really narrow the saucer to be more of a hull bulge than a saucer inside the outer shell parts.
