i guess that it really gets frustrating that that staff is so much longer than the sword. e i guess it would be very frustrating indeed. i had better find some time to study jodo class at butokuden.

yeah, u r right, but terminator with machine gun should be better choise to bet on...

"Koden" is the Shinntou-musouryu. "Koryu" has deteriorated.

kogai Fukuoka-ken's Koden is the origin of Shintou musou-ryu joujutsu. Koryu was simplified with Shimizu,Takaji-shihan in order to spread in Tokyo .It is called "Shintou musou-ryu Jodou . Furthermore, Seitei-gata was popularized by Japan kendou-renmei. This is the hisitory of Shintou musou-ryu jujutsu and Jodo .

damedakorea3508 It's the first time I hear someone calling Fukuoka-ha "Koden". They are both called koryu, as far as I know. Yes, Shimizu had his methods of teaching SMR, just like all other teachers. Some of those changes are present in the Fukuoka-ha, too. In fact, I've been told Matsumura (the teacher in this video) has also altered SMR to fit his method of teaching. It's not really about "deterioration", because there isn't just one correct way to perform the kata. Usually the differences between different lines of SMR are quite minimal, anyway.

kogai Excuse me, I am poor at English. How to call a Koden or a Koryu is not strict. It is important that there are three flows. At first, it is the Shintoumusou-ryu jojutsu with prosperous Fukuoka near the origin.A sword takes the style of the "Daihassou(mimigamae)" phase. The second is a style which may be called the Shintoumusou-ryu jodou.As for the style of a sword, not the "Daihassou" phase but a sword guard becomes per month. I will hear that the sword turned off from the style of the Daihassou phase is quick, and does not fit beginners. "Seitei-gata"(prevalent type) is the third. There is also an exercise hall into which power is put in winning the victory in an Seitei-gata" convention.
