It's a pretty symbolic little moment where he renounces the kind hearted Young obito he used to be. In many ways we all do when we become cynical adults. I give huge props to the creators for deciding to add that. Adds a stupid amount of depth to a character.

Scratch the hand to hand combat, it's best combat in anime history: animation, emotion, weight, art direction, music, that fight has it all, no flows

If the entirety of the war arc was this good Naruto would be undeniably the best. Even still this fight alone is one of the best ever.

​​@@someguy3508The earlier portions of the war arc was actually pretty good. However, it started getting bad after all the Madara bullshit that Kishimoto smoked. The otsutsukis were basically salt on the wound at that point.

I'm ok with the war arc ngl, there was some bullshit and even to this day i think the all Otsutsuki thing was a bad idea (Madara as a final boss was perfect) but that arc still gave lot of iconic moment, and the all dead brought to life gave some top tier confrontation, Itachi and Nagato, Asuma and Zabuza coming back were incredible and was a smart way to make Madara come back PS: Tho i still wonder what was Obito's original plan, Kabuto did the heavy lifting in the war and him joining was a late addition, Obito and his white zetsus would have been crushed by the alliance easily idk what he thought declaring war

One of the best fights in all of anime, so much raw emotion.

This will ALWAYS be the best fight in Naruto. No flashy, overpowered attacks. No Tailed Beast bs. Just Taijutsu and clever use of Ninjutsu.

The moment at 4:00 basically shows how completely lost could one become when hating...

"I'll let you win this battle".... knowing that he was literally trying to lose this fight in the exact manner he did shows a neat touch on word choice. He wasn't just saying he lost, he was heavily focused on staying awake and executing his plan that his word choice morphed into him almost admitting he let Kakashi win.

Now this is what a true taijutsu's like. No bullshit just fight

Could write an entire essay on this fight lol. Obito is clearly more powerful. Think of it in terms of weight classes in boxing: Obito is a middleweight fighting a welterweight in Kakashi. Hence, Obito clearly hits harder, but Kakashi has more skill, and it shows. However, Kakashi is far more emotionally charged which affects his coordination, and whenever he starts to get less coordinated, Obito gets him. Then he clears his head and begins to win again. It's hard to tell if Kakashi let himself be pierced in a non-fatal spot so as to get through Obito's defense a la Jin and Kariya from Samurai Champloo, or if Obito aimed for a non-fatal spot himself. I do believe that Obito never intended to kill Kakashi, but he did definitely want to incapacitate him. That's what he tried to do behind the mud wall, but Kakashi was ready, so he had to improv. They both took crazy risks in letting themselves get stabbed. A little to the left and Obito might have pierced a vital organ of Kakashi, while he allowed himself get to the verge of death with the dagger to the heart. But Obito needed his heart pierced because of that seal, and it said something about his trust in Kakashi's skill that he was damn certain that Kakashi would be able to do it.

People who thought this was a legit fight...oh boy you have to know you can't argue about battles in naruto.

There has never been such a sad battle in Naruto..

If this arc went a different path this still could be the boss fight before Sasuke vs Naruto final match

Obito finessed Kakashi in hand-to-hand combat without even trying. Shows really how far he has come. Kakashi was basically a rookie to him who survived purely on his mercy.

Nah, Obito tried to kill Kakashi here. He jumped at Kakashi in attempt to kill him until the clone stopped him, and he tried to kill Kakashi many times throughout the war. It’s misinformation that Obito simply let Kakashi win here, he simply took advantage of Kakashi stabbing him at this time. There’s no reason any other ninja couldn’t have stabbed Obito to remove the seal later, it didn’t have to be Kakashi. The claim that he didn’t want Kakashi killed is easy to disprove at various points in the war and even in this fight itself, which I can list anytime you want. Also, in the manga, Kakashi kicked his ass a lot harder.

@@roycedsouza4632 Stop talking like you’re in an anime with your “absolutely pathetic”, that’s what is pathetic here lmao Obito was primarily strong with Kamui and little else, weak wood style without zetsu suit (can be countered by lightning easily) and couldn’t even control the rinnegan well, as he admitted to Sakura. All of Obito’s major feats are due to some kind of outside amp like zetsu or Kamui, and you haven’t disproven anything I said. This fight is Obito without Kamui, with wood style too weak to help on his own and inability to use rinnegan effectively. He got stabbed and decided to take advantage of it, nothing more. He could’ve let himself get stabbed right away if he wanted to let Kakashi win, but he didn’t. He wanted to kill him like he did the other million times he tried to kill Kakashi during the war. He could’ve let anyone stab him whenever he wanted to remove the seal, he wanted Kakashi dead here which is easily proven.

@@Random1567 Kakashi barely landed any hits on him. Obito was utterly finessing him without even going all out. He didn't even use a serious genjutsu on Kakashi knowing that it would break his mind. You don't know what you're talking about. The difference between Obito and Kakashi is the same as Jigen and Konohamaru.

@@roycedsouza4632 Manga Kakashi kicked Obito’s ass, anime just played Obito up, and 2nd, he landed enough hits in him to win the overall fight. Genjutsu was shown to be useless since Kakashi also possessed the sharingan and Obito isn’t Itachi. Even Itachi resorted to Tsukuyomi to take out Kakashi, and Obito is far beneath that in genjutsu. You’re the one who knows nothing, Obito is nothing without Kamui or Zetsu suit, and couldn’t even handle the rinnegan well at all. He went all out here and just took advantage of the stab breaking the seal, he could’ve had anyone stab him if he wanted to remove the seal the entire time. He could’ve just had Kakashi win immediately instead of fighting at all. He clearly wanted to win and tried to kill Kakashi, like he had the entire war arc. Easily provable, want me to recount them? I can at any time. All of this Obito praising is either false, actually credited to someone else entirely (zetsu), or headcanon. He went all out and lost because he lacked Kamui for this fight, had weak wood style and couldn’t use the rinnegan well at all. He was utterly stomped in the canon manga and just played up in the anime to not look like a joke, something people like you love to ignore.

He took advantage that he got stabbed to remove the seal, he didn’t plan on it from the get go vs Kakashi specifically. He tried to kill Kakashi all throughout the war which can be proven easily. He could’ve had almost anyone else remove the seal later if he wanted.

@@Random1567 not really. This attack is kakashi's mmo. If anyone could remove it from his heart its him. Guy, naruto and bee who were present at the time dont really go for piercing attacks. Also he is way stronger than kakashi as proven by him basically fighting the 4 of them by himself for quite a while. All those times he tried to kill kakashi he woulve but kakashi was saved. If he could get so many openings on him then why couldn't he in a 1v1?

@@simon-peterwilliamson2412 difference is he couldnt use kamui to become intangible here, which always gave him the gigantic advantage over everyone, as well as in the fight against the 4 of them that you mentioned where for most of it he had jinchuriki helping him

And the size of hole doesn't matters, if you get stabbed in heart you die unless you have hashirama cells but obito purposely didn't stab Kakashi through heart, he never wanted to kill Kakashi.

@@pain6638 that doesn't make any sense, if the hole was bigger he is definitely not surviving like he did unless someone helps him even if it's not the heart, he won't be walking with a hole as big as obito's, obito has many tricks but it was definitely a tie in this fight, kakashi used to beat him when they were kids but now obito is much better than kakashi, his visual powers are the best, kakashi was never that good he is just smart, and got boosts from obito throughout the series.

@@justsomeguywithafewmoregut4600 You shouldn't spread misinformation on social media apps when you don't have the proper info, go watch Naruto again. Obito had a conversation with madara later in the series where he tells him how he outsmarted madara but lost to plot armour.

I think this is hilarious because kishi really pushed this to the background for more dragon ball z-est fights with meteors and what not yet he showed that he could properly write Hand to hand combat and tactics that og naruto was built off of I could nvr understand why he didn't see the lightning in the bottle he caught (he wanted to kill fan favs which isn't really bad cause it's a show about trafficking kids to be warmongers) (his own wife had to say "shouldn't you write and elaborate on your MAIN CHARACTER parents) it's weird but we got what we got and it could've been worse ao...meh
