Dude, by the time you stop having to re-upload this Shin Ultra Seven will be on DVD.

Ultrafans wouldn't be angry at the jesus allegory. In fact, it's the exact opposite since it is an obvious fact the creator himself Eiji Tsuburaya himself was a catholic. There's already lots of references to Christianity even back in the original '66 Ultraman series.

Reminds me of how the cross in Japanese culture is not a Christianity thing, but an Ultraman reference.

For one scene he was resurrected and confused. The nightmare scene we would have got was based on existing comics where dark side controls Superman. It would have been great. But ya Superman wasn't dark. He was more realistic in our world and that's going to be darker that 80s camp

I actually liked Zōffy as a character. Even though what he does is disagreeable, you can understand his reason as to why, and even during the process of his actions, he also still treats Ultraman as a respectable colleague. The portrayal of his character is one of my favorites in movies

New Idea for reviewing Tokusatsu shows and films: Recreate moments in the film with toys. Can't flag the footage when there isn't any.

To understand Shin Ultraman,you have to watch: 1966 OG TV series ❌ Evangelion who got inspired by Showa Ultra series ❌ Anno'University Ultraman fan film for good plot and over budgets ❌ Return of Ultraman since it's Anno and Higuchi favorite Ultra ⭕🤣 It's really inspiring that Anno san finally can touch the favorite Tokusatsu of his younghood after being criticized many years It may not be perfect,but the love and cares out into it are clearly visible If only we can get other SSSP members other than Asami to communicate with Ripia,it would be better Overrall 8.7/10, highly recommended

Asami is absolutely gorgeous.

I think Ultramans Life is given to Kaminaga, so Kaminaga has the Body of Lipia, if he has a Beta Capsule he can be Ultraman.

Agreed. Lipia’s body is “empty” so Kaminaga can transfer his mind into it becoming ultraman. Kind of like an eldritch version of Jack

Anno truly is a fan of the medium. I can’t wait for his shin Kamen rider to show in the US

I like your point on Ultraman's defeating Zetton possibly being predetermined based on his providing the knowledge of the Beta Capsule. However, I think a more comical way to look at it is if Ultraman is to be simply uninformed on any of the system's technicalities. I mean I know how a lightbulb runs on electricity and stuff, but that doesn't mean I know how to build one, so what if Ultraman is LITERALLY asking humanity to figure it out FOR him?

liked how Anno and Higuchi adapted the Return of Ultraman Hideki Go's merger with UltraJack to this film :) much more heroic of Shinji

Anno's entire career is pretty much him retreating his childhood love of giant robots and tokusatsu shows and movies. I think he understands the rule of cool principles that make those stories work, as well as how to frame them for a modern audience.

37:50 I don't see how this is a controversial statement or analysis. The original was well known for being a Jesus allegory and I'm near positive those christian imagery in Evangelion was partially inspired from the Ultra series. I doubt Hideaki Anno or Shinji Higuchi are christian in any way but to be faithful to the original and what it meant to them, they had to maintain that allegorical element. It's like making a Narnia movie and removing the allegorical element from Aslan.

For an ET movie that's founded on the idea of preserving the human species of Earth because of how fascinating humans are to this ET, ironically the movie sure did a HORRIBLE job at presenting the fascinating side of humanity, with the monotonous dialogues, robotic interactions, absence of chemistry between the characters. As much as I love the visual concept, the storytelling department was a pain in the ass to sit through for sure.

I finally got to see this movie last weekend and I can really see why people love this movie. The Jesus allegory is probably the thing that made me love the movie. Ever heard the song Jesus will fix it? Well that pretty much said it all for me. Ultraman and by extension all Ultra's are not going to fix all our problems. They are just an alien trying to do the right thing at the end of the day nothing more nothing less.

Shin Ultraman was the most fun I've had watching a movie in years.

@1001johny the reason why i said that Mother of Ultra doesn't exist cos she's named Ultrawoman Marie. Or Ultramother Marie, likely from Mother Mary, which Cathsolics devoted to Her. Christians, on the other hand, pretend like She never existed, which is stupid. You would appreciate someone's mom for birthing the child you now know is your best friend, right?

But she is important in as much as someone like Ruth was, because she was a faithful and Godly woman, and they were both types that serve as symbolic redemptions for Eve.

​@@1eyeddevil929 Catholicism is still considered "Christian", it's just another form of it. Protestant Christians don't ignore Mary either, there's just a difference in Theology. From what I know, there's a viewpoint that depicting and praying to people like Mary and the saints is kinda riding on the line of idolatry according to the viewpoint of the more Pentacostal side of things. Personally, I'm not well-informed enough on the viewpoints of Catholicism to form my own opinion on the matter, I'm just relaying to you what I've learned from others. At any rate, I really don't think it's a good thing to separate Catholicism from the rest of Christianity just because of a difference in theological standpoints.

I JUST learned this exists 3 days ago, here on youtube for free, and I was HOOKED on this! I love goofy monster flicks being taken seriously in design and execution! The monsters were so unique and the tunnelling one was a GREAT design

This movie is pretty cool.

I live in the UK, and the film was never released here, luckily I managed to find a Japanese Blu-ray copy on E-bay. I've been waiting for this film for as long as they released that trailer test that never got anywhere. I wonder where people would be able to watch this masterpiece if they didn't buy the Blu-ray?

I have little faith in Hideaki Anno especially after the last evangelion film which was so badly written that the script was broken. In general I don't consider him a good writer or storyteller
