A few months back I tried to get my friends into Kamen Rider with watching Shin Kamen Rider... The problem is that all of my friends are stoners that were already fucking high as a kite so they couldn't focus on the subtitles so they never finished it

This is one of my favorite films ever. It’s oozing with love and respect like shin ultraman and shin Godzilla.

IIRC, the reason they couldn't do the chase scene in the rain was because they couldn't make it work with the CGI at all.

I love Shin Kamen Rider so much. I kept up with all the updates of the film since it was announced. Watched it twice at my local theater. If they had more showings, I would had went back. To me it’s a 10/10. Everything I wanted and more. I pray every day for a sequel aka Masker World. Please Anno-san don’t let us Shin Kamen Rider fans down. 😭 🙏

I love this film even with the criticism, felt very W(in fact W is just a 1971 manga love letter like Shin), and the most raw heroism I felt from it, OOO and Drive Even the sequel "仮面の世界(Masked World)" is canceled, we still can read Ishinomori sensei manga last chapter, which that film based on(Highly recommend, it's good for a 50+ years manga)

ngl. I adored Gaim when it came out. But everything after it (Minus Drive, Ghost and ZiO) follow that cohesive anime-like storytelling format and abandon the classic style of W, OOO and Drive ( anthology + story bits spliced between each episode), So I have been YEARNING for something like Shin Kamen Rider. I'm sooo glad it takes even it storytelling style back to its roots instead of doing something new like Kamen Rider the First and the Next. Can't be happier that it came out. Honestly tho, I feel like W was the Shin Kamen Rider before Shin Kamen Rider which how much of Ishinomori's manga's spirit it captured

My closest thing to this, is the anime Kikaider as a kid. I'm in my 30s and after watching this I looked up bikes and red scarfs online. This movie is deep but still speaks to your inner kid

I don't get the CGI problem... You get what you came for, and it's not like modern tokusatsu doesn't use over the top CGI... Suddenly people are mad when Shin does it??? Edit: It's a double standard

Because the CGI isn't very good. :/ It's one thing for the show, but after how Shin Godzilla looked like a guy in a suit...but wasn't. I was hoping since this was to be a more serious take on KR, it'd look it. The tunnel scene, looked bad. It made it funny, so it was still enjoyable, but doesn't compare to the opening. Nor does it even feel as cool as the Eva Rebuild action moments. I get trying to do the scene without CG would be hard....So maybe they didn't need the scene. What matters is the final result, and it's supposed to awe, but doesn't.

CGI quality is actually really good for Kamen Rider standard. but on some scenes, the way they decided to use the CGI was just bad. like really, really bad 🤣

​@@JohnnyBurnes Difference is, when it comes to Godzilla, Toho was always throwing every last penny they had into the production to make sure everything went smoothly. Toei on the other hand has their resources stretched thin between non-stop, 40+ episode, annual seasons of Sentai and Rider, and spinoff and crossover movies. Shin Kamen Rider just did not have the resources that made Shin Godzilla and Shin Ultraman work.

Those last fights were way too dark! The MP Aug skirmish and team up with number 2 was dope but it was so hard to make out what was going on lol. Hope they could re-edit that original vision of the fight on a blu ray release or something 🙏

Scared this would be yet another negative review, like several of the toku 'tubers out there. Thankfully not the case! One nitpick, or maybe its more something you might have missed, but Ruriko didnt put the scarf on these men simply because it's from the original design or because "it's a heroic color"... its because of her father. There's a photo featured in the film that shows her and her brother riding on the back of her father's motorcycle along with him and the dad is wearing the red "muffler". She says it's because of "heroes", but what she's really saying is it's because her father is her hero and these men remind her of him. Sure an Asian woman with "daddy issues" can be a bit cliché (or not, considering I've dated my fair share 😂) but it works here for her character. She really is the glue that holds this version of Rider together. Minami is easily my favorite Japanese actressea after this & Minus One hit in the same year.

Something else you might have missed is that "K" isn't the only extra toku character to make an appearance. "J" is shown as his predecessor in a half-built form, with more than a passing resemblance to Kikaider, setting that up for down the line. More proof of Anno wanting to really push forward with his "Shin" shared universe concept.

12:58 I think this rewrite of SHOCKER origin story is supposed to be a fairly direct reference to the to the real religious cult “Happy Science” that started back in the 80s.

The distribution rights for this film are stuck in limbo. I feel like because the film didnt do well in japan, the studio backing the project find the film not financially feasible to localize this for in the west since there isnt a gurentee on high returns, so it just dumped it on amazon prime with closed captions.

She’s also the lead heroine from Godzilla Minus One. She’s excellent in both and is doing very well for herself.

I REALLY LOVE aspects of S:KR, and am REALLY BUMMED about others. Overall, it's cool, but I still recommend watching some OG KR as someone's intro to the franchise. (I wish Fujioka was in a detective movie. He's got that swagger!) I did really dig your enthusiasm during this video dude. 🤘

I loved Kamen Rider, and have been watching since Skyrider in VHS... Loved Shin Godzilla... Loved Shin Ultraman... This movie tho... Loved the design and some of the production design & creativity. But besides that, urghhh, sorry... 😔😔😔

The movie felt overtly ambitious but poorly planned The spider aug is a great start, the bat was disappointing, the scorpion.... Is just there, the wasp is cool and one of the highlight of the movie, hopper II is honestly fun and definitely my most rewatch part, the mass augments fight is literally just black screen and barely visible (like how is this fight even get a pass as watchable while editing?), the final fight can be annoying with the weird lighting for the room but it's enjoyable enough. 6/10, a much downgrade from Shin Ultraman but better than Shin Godzilla.

Shin kamen rider was exeptional in its best part, but man, the worst parts are the lowest to me. From the easly recognisable iphone shots, the confusing coreography, the awful, overused, cgi was tough to swallow. Shin godzilla is far better both in cinematogrphy and pacing, and also makes a better useage of cgi. After shin kamen rider, i watched kamen rider the first and man, that film is just a better version of shin kamen rider apart from the musics; the stunts, designs, and usage of iconic moves, kamen rider the first is just better while being basically the same film. Shin kamen rider is loyal to a fault to the original, and the shaky, over zoomed shots were probably the worst part. No wait, the scorpion lady was.

Kamen Rider had a good start but most recent ones are horrible.. They look like toys..
