shimpo RK2 bearing replacement part1 - disassembly
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Disassembly. This is replacing the wheel bearings on the Shimpo RK-2 pottery wheel. When the wheel was spinning, it was noisy and not smooth sounding. These instructions may also work for the RK-10 and other Shimpo pottery wheels.

Thanks for digging into this and sharing
There is a circlip (circlip is British English, aka clip ring) on top of the upper bearing and there is usually a second circlip below the lower bearing which locates it on the shaft. The lower bearing is meant to be a loose fit in the housing - the idea is that the spring washers above the bearing push it downwards within the housing. The bearing rests on the clip on the shaft (below the bearing and above the woodruff key). In this way the springs push on the bearing which pushes down on the shaft, pulling the shaft downwards until the upper circlip is tight down onto the upper bearing. This is a simple way to take up any end float (i.e. up and down movement) in the shaft. Also be aware that the upper bearing is different to the lower one, it has a waterproof seal on its upper side to stop water/slip from getting in. the lower bearing doesn't need this. Lastly, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL when pressing the shaft out of the bearings, it is VERY soft steel and is easily damaged - be careful!

Do you have any further info on that m8?.. I've got a non shimpo wheel that's a similar design but is now knocking a bit..I figured it's probably the main bearing..came on here for some inspiration before I start tearing it down to take some measurements...
I'm trying to find the bearings - order online - and can't get the exact model you suggest. They seem to miss numbers. I found 6204-2RS and 6505-2RS. I also got the info that the they could be 6205-DD, or 6204ZZ, which are the right one? I have the RK-2 West 1977. Thanks
So I had to replace 2 of 4 the bushings that connect to the small pulley on an old Shimpo. I'm trying to reattach the small pulley but the belt is so tight I don't have enough slack to line up the bushings with the 2 holes on the front wall of the base. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can get the small pulley in place? It's really awkward trying to line up all 4 bushings at once while trying to keep the belt on both pulleys. Any advice would be a huge help!
Is it possible to find a replacement motor?
I also have a Shimpo Whisper. How do you adjust the speed of the wheel? Most other wheel brands have the adjustments underneath the foot pedal.

My wife has a Shimpo Whisper. I am not sure I understand the question. The foot pedal is like a gas pedal. Push a little for slow and more for faster. The only adjustment we did was to loosen the nut on the foot pedal. Initially the pedal would stick. Once the nut was loosen slightly, the pedal would return and the wheel would stop.

@@jeepsandstuff9113 Hey! It's the Potentiometer that I'm trying to adjust the speed on.
It seems that my switch crapped out. I’m trying to figure out where to get a replacement.

Not sure where to get a replacement switch.
Where did you get that 8mm allen key?

Princess Auto (in Canada). It is like harbor Freight in the US. A 5/16 allen key should be the same size as 8mm
