Monu Bhai, thanks a lot for re-living my childhood. I was in Shimla, erstwhile Simla, then in Punjab till my age of 15. This video made my eyes moist due to sheer happiness & thrill you created. I was muttering the names of Rly stations before you were announcing. I too enjoyed tea-pakora with you. Thanks for all the efforts and running around in this freezing cold and later editing of the video to present this 23 mnts of wonderful experience. Hats off to you & your team.

They should change the train now to something very modern with Vista coaches and a train set on an electrified line. It certainly has changed quite a lot since the late 80s when I was a kid travelling every year on Himalayan Queen between Kalka and Shimla. Unlike many who want to preserve age old traditions on railways, I am for advancement.

Thank you so much for showing such a beautiful journey and sceneries. What a nice explanation it was where you described the historical facts of a couple of amazing railway stops in between. Thank you so much.

I travelled in Shimla-Kalka toy train Himalayan queen but in summers. But the train speed is really Slow and the tracks are too thin as well compared to normal Indian Railways. :-) 😄😇

Yes that's why it's called toy train It's a narrow gauge track Elevation at starting point Kalka ( railway station) is 656 m asl and at Shimla( railway station) 2075 m asl It has 103 tunnels 988 big small bridges and 917 curves and sharpest curve is of 48° so the speed of the train is 28-30 km/h Well this journey is all about experiencing beauty of mountains rather then reaching shimla quickly

Your video has taken me down memory lane ! I am from Kolkata and took my family consisting of my wife, two daughters and son Harsh to Shimla nearly 35 years back ! We had driven dawn from New Delhi to Shimla ! However, I decided to take a train journey partially and took train from Kalia to Solan where again we shifted to our car !
