David Bohannon well, they are shown when to react to the host. Not sure if there are many cues to the audience for guests. Everyone knows Shia made a mess of his career but that kids acting chops are amazing! I just saw honey boy and its another brilliant job! There is a moment you wanna kick his fuckin ass!! You will appreciate him a little more after that movie based on his life. I liked the peanut butter falcon one too. Even that tennis one was entertaining. Man down was a great performance. Shit man, if his worst movie was indiana jones its because that was a terrible miscast!! Even if he did his job to spielbergs liking. Whatever he got to work with ford and many amazing actors. I know one day he’ll get an oscar. I can’t believe he never gets any nominations for supporting actor. Who in his age range can out act him?

It's amazing growing up with Shia. You see him being eccentric and cute for years, to staring in great movies like Holes, Disturbia, and Transformere, to disappearing and the whole world turning on him and labeling him as crazy, to coming back as a well respected actor appearing in beautiful movies. And then stepping back and watching interviews now and then just to see hes always been the same person and the whole world was behind their time. It's truly amazing. Love Shia

Honey Boy resonated so much with me because I also had a father figure I really had a complicated and angry relationship with. I have always remembered and thought about this interview, and I can remember exactly where I was when I first watched this in 2003. It was the end of summer, I was 12 years old watching this on Comedy Central in my parents' room while they were away at work. The network would play repeats of the newest Conan in the afternoon, and I watched it ritually. I remember thinking way back then that this interview was really kind of hard to watch, Shia seemed like he was trying so hard to be funny but so nervous he kind of raced through his stories, and the audience wasn't with him that much. Even so, I remember thinking then that it was really endearing and cool that he, at my age, got onto Conan, and something about him just seemed so relatable. This interview, even though it was kind of hard for me to watch, made me like Shia a lot more personally, but it's hard to say why exactly. I have always (maybe regretfully!) remembered the testicle story vividly and I always thought it was a pretty funny story, but I remember it striking me then, too, as a kind of really painfully embarrassing memory. It was a painfully honest joke, which I can now see is perhaps a major arc of his career. There is an adversity to this that I hope is kind of propelling him him into the next stage of his life and career. The more Shia brings his past to light through his films and performances - his practice, his past becomes more relatable and painful to watch, but also a thing that people like me, who were damaged early on by those who were supposed to protect us, can use in a therapeutic way too. I've always contended that Shia, though having the power of celebrity to propel his performance art (a privilege that very few have), is someone whose acts and life should be considered deeply. My personal story differs greatly from him, and I dont see him on a greater plain than anyone else, but I commend him for always trying. Honey Boy struck me as a film that was, among other things, about constantly trying, even when its extremely painful. I think there was something here that he was projecting, as others pointed out, and as a kid I totally read straight into it and I think thats why I've always remembered this interview. After watching Honey Boy I can see now how much he was struggling with his family and identity. Glad I stumbled upon this again.
