Shez: Two Swords and a Lot More - Challenger Approaching

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to another episode of Challenger Approaching! In this series, we discuss characters who may be invited to a future entry of Super Smash Bros, then go into ludicrous detail on what they could be like if they joined the fight for real!
Our Challenger this time is an unusual one. Hailing from a spinoff of the popular Fire Emblem: Three Houses (because they died in the original timeline), Shez plays the role of alternate protagonist with an alternate perspective and a very different set of abilities from what Byleth--and everyone else on the current roster--is capable of. Fighting with dual swords, magic, and some signature techniques, there's a lot of moveset potential here.
But just how could everything Shez is capable of be worked into a moveset? How could the mechanics of a Warriors game be adapted to fit the structure of Smash while remaining true to the source material? And just how likely is Shez in the first place with a new Fire Emblem on the horizon? Let's take a look.

Victory Screen ideas: 1. Shez performs a series of slashes with both swords, after which they strike a pose and ask "What do you think?" as if performing in order to impress prospective employers in the audience. 2. Shez dematerialises their signature sword, after which they plant their Killing Edge into the ground. They then wipe their brow with the back of their hand, sighing before they state "Job's done.". 3. Shez stands still, eyes closed and blades at the ready, before using Shadowflash to warp several times, performing practice slashes each time they reappear. They finish on a final slash with both blades, before muttering "What is this power?", as they open their eyes. Bonus victory quotes: Vs Byleth: "I finally beat you, Ashen Demon!" Teamed with Byleth: "I'll work with you for now, but we'll still settle this!"

Byleth replying: “I finally beat you, Ashen Demon!” And Team Battle/Team Partner with Byleth: “I’ll work with you for now, but we’ll still settle this!” And FE3H Shez Victory Screen But I think that Shez (Male/Female Version) This Fighter would be very cool and Exhilarating to the addition In Smash Bros.™️ & I’m still hoping Smash 6 will come til Next 3 years of 2025 that’s where my Final prediction going to the Next-Gen for Smash Bros Universe.

I think the victory quote when teamed up with Byleth should be more of the lines of "Feels reassuring to be on your side this time!" as Shez doesn't actually hold a strong grudge against Byleth. It's more of a goal than a personal revenge. In the eyes of Shez, Byleth is possibly the single strongest foe around.

I'd honestly love to see Fire Emblem shuffled around next Smash game. As much undeserved hate as the franchise gets in Smash, there is admittedly a bit of an oversaturation. The weight of continuing to bring the previous ones back is what I think the problem is. I'd love it if some cuts, but adding in fresh and interesting fighting styles. Because the series *does* have a lot to offer. You've made the pitch for these guys extremely well, and I believe Engage's protagonist's summoning abilities would be really fun as well.

The strict adherence to bringing in protagonists before any other characters is an issue as well. We haven't gotten a single villain, fan-favorite secondary character, or weird pick from the series. An important feature of FE games is that they have large casts of varied characters, but the eight Smash reps we have don't reflect that variety at all. I'm tired of sword-lords and sword-lord equivalents. Give me give me huge armor knights, give me archers, give me pure mages, give me dragons (that actual spend most of their time as dragons).

I think that the main problem just lies with wanting everyone back. I guess Marth has a valid reason being the mascot. But as much as I love Roy, he along with Chrom and Lucina can be cut. Robin is unique enough and Ike stands out as well. I don't care for Corrin and Byleth is decent, but I guess the latter two could just be replaced with the new avatar.

@@Dragoryu3000 yeah, that's exactly why I consider Corrine to be the most unique and interesting FE character in Smash, us half dragon and could be improved if her down b instead of a counter allowed her to become a dragon and perform unique attacks, sort of a limited Pyra/Mythra version. Sadly that will never happen now that she isn't the newest game and we will never get a non-protagonist/non-avatar, Nintendo only cares about playable ads when it comes to FE and of course they must add the face of the newest game as an ad, even if is a disliked game.

I love this design, but I feel like all the meters would clutter the UI and make it really hard to read. I’d say make the Shadowflash meter be invisible (maybe make the portrait flash when it’s fully charged again?) and maybe for the Awakening gauge, make Shez’s hair get progressively brighter until it’s fully charged and they have some sort of minor particle effect surrounding them until it’s activated.

I was wondering recently how Shez would play in Smash. Even though their chances are slim, I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them? They're quite endearing, and might actually be my favorite Avatar character in the Fire Emblem Series, as a character at least. Moveset Thoughts: You know, I was expecting the Light-Heavy distinction to end up leading to move-cancelling mechanic, but every special having its own meter was a pretty interesting twist. Shadowflash makes way too much sense as an Up-B, I have no clue how I never thought of that. I also think Arval needs to show up to help in the Final Smash, considering Sothis does for Byleth, though hopefully they wouldn't just be a PNG. Also, a Smash "Minor League" game... that has potential.

This is an amazing concept, well done! Another idea I had for their gimmick could be that each neutral special is dependent on how many times you hit jab before (jab chains into itself like Kazuya’s 10-hit combo) which references the Warriors combo mechanic. So each neutral special would be different depending on how far you are in the combo chain that we see in Three Hopes

I don’t know if you look at suggestions but I think she’d be really cool.

  • @luxrayblast
    @luxrayblast Жыл бұрын

I made own move set actually, mind judging it to yours? I even gave them Arval as a costume. Shez will be the same weight as Byleth, has two jumps and has no extra movement options, except Specials. The Gimmick: Shez's Gimmick is the Warrior Special! As Shez takes and deals damage, their Warrior Gauge fills up over the course of battle. If Shez is KO'd, the gauge resets, much like Joker's Rebellion gauge. Regular Attacks: For Shez's Neutral Attack, they will use similar punching attacks to Byleth, which lead into a Rapid Jab. While in their Awakened State, Shez starts the Rapid Jab, leading into a similar attack to their aerial spin attack in Three Hopes. Although, it's more similar to Dimitri's Spinning attack. Their Forward tilt will have them swing their sword to the left, then summon their special one to swing it down to the right, then slices upward, while propels them up, similar to their basic combo in Three Hopes. Shez's Down Tilt is a spinning Sword swipe that takes cues from Mario's crouching kick attack from Super Mario 64. Yep, I'm going to be referencing how Felix tells them that their fighting style is unpredictable, yet very interesting to watch. So, why not take cues from the other fighters and add a "Shez Flare"? Shez's up tilt is another attack similar to another fighter's up tilt, Shez tosses their Sword up and does a flip, similar to Joker's up tilt where he tosses his knife in the air, making it spin. However, if Shez's attack connects, then takes their chance to use an attack similar to Cloud's Limit Cross Slash and then slams down hard, sending the foe flying! This is a deadly attack at high percentages. Shez's Dash Attack is based on Pit's Side Special from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but, using the Sword Of Serios, the weapon that Serios uses during the openings of both Fire Emblem Three Houses and Warriors Three Hopes. Their Forward Smash is the combat art, Wrath Strike, swinging forward their Sword at full power. Their Up Smash is a variation of Bernadetta's Warrior Special; Shez pulls out a Blessed Bow and shoots several arrows upward. The arrows that land leaves puddles of paint on the ground that make foes sluggish, but, it's a direct hit, the foe will be buried, while they are at Shez's mercy. The Paint Splatters are in reference to Bowser Jr.'s Special Shot in Mario Hoops- I mean Ignatz Victor's Warrior Special in Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes and they disappear in 10 seconds. However, I do believe Bowser Jr. called and wants his unique paint splattering back from Ignatz. Their Down Smash uses the Hero's Relic, Vajra-Mushti, which can be used by Brawlers, but, its full power can only be used by Balthus, who was born with the crest of one of the Four Apostles, Chevalier. Shez jumps up in the air and slams down with their fist to the ground. This animation is actually taken from one the Special Weapons in Splatoon 2, the Splashdown. However, Shez does not actually leave ink on the ground, but, if it's used a follow-up, the attack causes a pillar of white magic to appear, similar to Palutena's Up Smash. Shez's Neutral Air has them spin the Sycthe Of Sariel in a circle to attack their foes. This is actually the Death Knight's Weapon of choice. Shez's Forward Aerial uses Hilda Goneril's Signature Weapon, Freikugel, which was originally used by the original Goneril of the Ten Elites. Only Hilda and Holst can unleash the true power of this Axe. Shez will do a forward flip and use the Combat Art, Smash! The Animation is mostly based on Corrin's Critical Hit animation from Fire Emblem Fates, but, the downward flip is more based on the Cutscenes Two Falchions from Awakening and the Redux from the first Fire Emblem Warriors where Chrom performs an attack similar to his Up Special in Smash Ultimate. Shez also enters free fall after attacking, but, if the spike hitbox strikes, Shez will bounce off the foe and swing again. Shez's Back Air is the same as Byleth's Forward and Back Aerials, but, instead swings Lun behind them, which has a 10% to freeze their foes. Lun is the Hero's Relic of Daphnel, those with the Crest of Daphnel can use Lun's true power, such as Ingrid. Grabs: Shez grabs the foe by the neck and pummels them with the raw power of the Forbidden Spell, Zahras. Think of Ganondorf's Side Special, but, as an actual grab. For their forward throw, they use the combat art, Heaviest Hitter to send the foe forward. For the down throw, they open two portals to Zahras and drop the foe, then swing a hammer to slam them down, afterwards they stab forward with a sword. Shez's back throw is similar to Sephiroth's, but, they make a rain of Dark Spikes appear. Finally, their up throw is a simple wind spell that does multiple hitting damage, sending the foe skyward. Special Moves: Neutral Special- Awakening: Shez is granted Arval's strength and transforms into a more powerful fighter. This will allow a free Warrior Special without a full gauge. Once used, they go back to normal and cannot use this for another 30 seconds. Side Special- Shadow Glide: Shez disappears and reappears somewhere else. This is Shez's dash when pressing ZR in Three Hopes. Up Special- Shadow Slide: In Three Hopes, this lets Shez warp a maximum of 3 times to ally strongholds. In Smash, Shez can use this to teleport to the ledge instantly, it's also a good combo escape move, breaking combos and has no end lag, however, just like Three Hopes, you get 3 Shadow Slides, so be sparing and Shadow Slide only when necessary. Down Special- Heal: Shez casts white magic that... heals Shez. That's all it does. No end lag, but, has 30 Durability, costs 6 durability when used and can only be used every 10 seconds. Heals about 12% to make up for Durability and time needed to use it again. No special effects, doesn't buff Shez, doesn't nerf Shez. While in an Awakened Stage, this heals at 30%, but, costs 15 Weapon durability to use. Costumes: Before I talk about the Final Smash here are Shez's Alts- Default Male & Female Shez Male Shez- Sunglasses and purple armor: This Costume is actually a reference to Shesez's KZread Avatar, that is usually made into a custom mod for games where Shesez is introducing Boundary Break. Shez also has a Camera Sword in reference to the camera mods used for Boundary Break. I had to go for a Shesez costume, not sorry! You can't spell Shesez without "Shez". Female Shez- Red/ Orange: This costume is in reference to Monica Von Ochs, a character who is part of your team in Three Hopes, but, is killed by Kronya in Three Houses. When Shez awakens, she turns Orange, which references Kronya, a recurring boss in in the Garreg Mach Series. Male Alt 2- This is a Lighter purple with Red & Black Accents, to reference Yuri Leclerc's Starting Class in Three Hopes and his Timeskip color scheme in Three Houses. Yuri leads the Ashen Wolves House, the unofficial Fourth House located in Abyss. Female Alt 2- Her hair is turned red and her outfit is a silvery color similar to the Academy uniforms worn by Balthus, Constance and Hapi, but, her hair color is in reference to Hapi, another one of the Ashen Wolves. Male Alt 3- Shez's hair is turned Green and his armor is a Blue & Gold accents, in reference to Seteth and Rhea's oufits. In an Awakened State, Shez's hair turns Blonde, to reference Saint Cichol, Seteth's real identity. Arval- Arval is an alternate character in the same vein as Alex, Zombie, Enderman, Alph and the Koopalings are for Steve, Olimar and Bowser Jr., respectively. Like those characters, Arval uses Shez's animations and attacks, but, is in their default class, Gremory. Their Victory Poses: 1- Shez and Byleth fight in their strongest appearances as Sothis and Arval Stare at each other, mirroring the box art. 2- Shez stabs their sword into the ground saying they were just doing "the job they were hired for". Byleth Defeated- If Byleth is defeated Shez will yell out "The Ashen Demon has been defeated!" 3- Shez plays the Mercenary Whistle and then triumphanly says "A Mercenary's Job is never done." Final Smash: The Forbidden Spell, Zahras For Shez's Final Smash, Epimenides takes over Shez's body and uses a dirty back attack, then grabs the foe with magic and casts the Forbidden Spell of Zahras upon their enemies, sending the foe and dragging any near by players into Zahras. If you are over 100%, you will be obliterated and INSTANTLY KO'd by Epimenides' power. Once in Zahras, no one is known to be able to escape, except for Epimenides, who originally fought along side Those Who Slither In The Dark. He created Arval as a their own being, who chose Shez as a Vessel to attach to. Their Specials are not meant to deal damage, but, for mind games. Please do Wolf from Persona 5 Strikers next! Unless you already did that.

I like the kit overall but it's a bit overloaded. The biggest issue for all those resources is that, unlike Robin, they're all different. They charge up differently, they're used up differently, they have different UI representations... The second biggest issue is that Robin already features specific moves durability in their kit. Shez doing the same but with different resources is just making them unnecessarily complicated. My suggestions on this would be to reshape how they work. *1st - Shadowflash.* It would be a visual meter, much like ROB's gas gauge, but more visible. They'd be represented by those magical sparkles we see. Those sparkles would be mostly visible as a trail whenever Shez moves around. The fewer there are, the emptier the gauge. It slowly replenishes over time, but dealing damage fills it up quite a bit faster (to avoid camping/stalling too hard + to give a proper weakness to the character, as we'll see later). *2nd - Durability.* It's displayed now applies to all specials other than up B (for a specific and very VERY hype reason I'll get into later, though if you've played the game, you might have realised this current version of Shadowflash is highly unterwhelming). In addition, durability CAN be recovered in-battle. Every time you successfully land a special, a purple shard randomly spawns on the battlefield which partly replenishes Shez's durability. This creates a sort of mini-game unique to the Shez MU wherein opponents can attempt to play around those shards, and so can Shez. It adds a whole new dimension which no other character has in the history of Smash! Steve can mine anywhere and traps like Isabelle's or Snake's discourage from treading a certain area. Only Shez has a non-threatening resource to play around. That means a few tweaks to the specials, which like for Shadowflash, I'll get to later. *3rd: The class and awakening meters.* Both are now fused... sort of. The gauge is actually separated into 2 different meters right down the middle. The class meter fills up the left part whereas the awakening gauge fills up the right part. - Class meter fills up by landing attacks, from the left towards the middle. Once fully charged, Shez's specials become empowered, like with side special. - Awakening meter fills up by taking damage, from the right towards the middle. Once fully charged, Shez's attacks (not smashes nor specials) are buffed. They unleash an additionnal "ethereal" slash, ie the second effect of Shadowflash (can be seen at 8:50, the sideways red-ish slashes). This makes their attacks slightly safer on shield + hit shields a bit more + easier to combo (a couple frames or so, to keep it balanced) and deals just a bit of extra damage, 1 or 2%, without changing knockback. Basically the video's down B bonuses on shield and in combos. - Once both are filled up, they fuse into one and Shez automatically awakens à la Arsène, adding the stat buffs of the video to the previous bonuses. The fused bar then begins to drain in order to maintain this form. Neither taking nor dealing damage fills it up. Once emptied, it's back to square one for our mercenary. I took a bit of liberty for the fused meters, but that is due to gameplay/story separation (in case youtube doesn't like the other word...). In story, Shez first awakens when about to die, then later when in danger. In game, it's from attacking, which overlaps with pretty much every other meter. On top of that, Shez is always represented trying to fight an uphill battle against the Ashen Demon. An underdog viciously trying to overcome their foe... when they're not jumping off cliffs to "get stronger". As such, in light of all that + their reckless side, it made sense that it'd only trigger not only if Shez is in a bad spot, but also if Shez has managed to actually fight back. There's also a reason why I chose the extra attack for the awakening gauge and the upgraded specials for the class meter. Class meter fills up by playing well, landing hits. Rewarding that with more combo potential would be giving too much pressure too easily. On the other hand, the extra attack may give Shez the extra boost they need when lagging behind. Not just that though, the upgraded specials also mean that Shez will have an easier time KO-ing opponents, which plays far better into the aggressive meter than the sandbag one. Especially since the specials tend to be a bit unsafe and rely on a resource which can be denied to Shez, not helping their disadvantage state any. (CONTINUED IN FIRST REPLY DUE TO LACK OF SPACE)

--- *The Specials* Quite obviously, since awakening is no longer the down special, there has to be some changes here. - Side special is unchanged in its effects. Very good and fitting as is. The only differences are that the upgraded version is now tied to the awakening half, and that it costs weapon durability. - Neutral special is now limited to dark magic. Shez only learns Dark Spike T from their unique classes, no ice spells to be seen. While they can learn ice spells from other classes, we could just as well have the Three Hopes UI with 4 directions, 4 options (no vulnerary nor awakening though, just 4 skills). I decided against this due to the kit being already quite loaded as is. Not everything needs to be featured, just like warriors specials which have been scrapped in both this video and my vision of the character. Like I said, Shez only learns Dark Spike T from their uniques classes and no other spell, be it dark magic or otherwise. There's no weaker version of Dark Spike T, which means the other spells would have a different utility. Joker loses Rebel's Guard but gains Tetrakarn/Makarakarn, which is simply more useful (aside from very niche situations). Here however, it'd be more like Sora losing Firaga to gain Thundaga. Both have their uses. As such, standard neutral special will be Dark Spike T and the upgraded one as well, but with more spikes to show its increased power. Simple sometimes works best. - Down special is new and is called Shadow Slide. No forts in Smash so instead, when first used, Shez creates a zone at their feet where they can teleport back to upon reusing down special. Unlike its FEW:3H version, it's unlimited... so long as you have the durability to cast it. That gives Shez another recovery tool. However, just like in FEW:3H, the "beacon" as I'll call it can be captured. Just 2 seconds of the opponent standing inside it will destroy it. Not only that, Shez also takes as long as Hero's zoom to teleport back to it and half a second once there to be able to act again (time to be adjusted for balancing purposes). Just like with purple shards, this adds an aspect of stage control unique to Shez with unique counterplay. And if deemed too weak due to being quite telegraphed, this could be made faster, opening up potential strings by following your opponent through teleporting! How cool would that be?! But I'm quite certain that'd make it too good of a recovery move so... this will remain a dream within a dream. - Up special or Shadowflash is more or less the same. In FEW:3H, Shez cannot turn very well which is reflected by choosing a direction so this is completely fine. But now, Shez can keep going as long as they hold the B button or until they run out of Shadowflash sparkles. A minor change, especially compared to this next one. On the ground, as mentioned in the video, Shez can use it to move around. Unlike other teleports though, Shez can act MUCH faster out of it, true to the source material. Think Pikachu's quick attack without the damage but with less endlag. They also don't end up in freefall (allowing for sick combos like Up tilt -> Shadowflash -> Up air), but can't double jump or use Shadowflash again unless hit. Why this change on Shadowflash? Wouldn't it be broken? Because Shez might be a freeform fighter, you might have noticed something of a trend. Gentleman jab -> unsafe. Multihit jab -> very punishable. Down-tilt -> unsafe. Up-tilt -> no mentions but obviously unsafe. Dash attack -> very punishable. Forward aerial -> lots of ending lag, meaning unsafe. Side special -> punishable. For a rushdown character, something doesn't add up. Buuut if the teleport can work a bit like Pikachu's wherein you can easily close up the distance, possibly cross-up your opponent and grab them or callout a reaction, this makes a whole lot more sense. Shez can be pretty reckless, flashy yet hard to read, so this style of going all-in with many mix-up possibilities complements their style very well without removing a crucial flaw to the character! Do keep in mind Shadowflash comes with a specific resources, unlike Pikachu's quick attack, so using it isn't without drawbacks. High risk high reward, the character. --- Phew! We're done with the changes I'd want to see on that kit. But while I could live without it, the following would still be appreciated. --- *The Tilts* Now don't worry, there's only one actual change (the other is visual only) and simply because I didn't like one of the tilts. - Forward tilt was fairly generic and its use overlapped with Down tilt. Instead, I'd see one that is inspired from Shez throwing their swords at the end of a regular combo (seen at 24:50). Shez throws their unnamed sword forwards, think a Belmont's F-smash at most. At the end of the animation, regardless of whether it hit anything and how far, Shez rematerialises the sword back into their hand. Unlike Pyra, they can't move in the meantime and the sword is a fairly average projectile that knocks upwards, setting up for potential strings (though no real combos). The move itself is punishable at melee range and can easily be jumped over. Still, with how unsafe Shez can be, this gives them something of a soft confirm and poking tool. A threat to be aware of and play around to extend Shez's threat range outside of using Shadowflash (since side special is punishable and more of a read or a combo finisher). - Up tilt is the very last change... and it works the exact same. I'd only change the visual so that it reflects Shez more acrobatic style by having Shez summersault backwards while slashing, like they do at the end of a Critical Rush (the attack when an enemy's guard is broken). --- There we go! I really do enjoy fan kits, makes me wish Smash had a workshop similar to Rivals of Aether. Here's to hoping for the next Smash game! Keep up the great work!

At first glance I thought this said "Shesez", as in the KZreadr, and was very confused. Very cool moveset, I love the idea of a character that's deliberately showing off as they fight. Perhaps you could simplify a tad by not having a cooldown icon for Shadowflash; a character like ROB doesn't have a visual indicator for his up-B fuel, and Wario's body flashes when his bike is off cooldown, for example, so a "recharge flash" could work. Hoping to see Raven Beak next! But Black Mage is a close second.

Ah, NOW I see why you chose to have the next Challenger Approaching video a secret from the last episode until now. XD Shez from Fire Emblem Unrivaled: Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon was definitely someone I was not expecting, and I'm sure most others weren't either, but unlike the majority of the Smash fanbase these days, I'm not complaining, even if it's very unlikely that they'll join the roster next Smash (or IF there'll be a next Smash since Special brought in so much, though, still so little in other areas, that it'll be really difficult to top) since they're not only from a spin-off, but also from Koei Tecmo, and while it is cool that they managed to get into Fire Emblem Heroes thanks to KT's permission, unlike Shion, and Lian from the Fire Emblem Unrivaled, and the fact that they wield 2 swords as opposed to 1 along with dark magic, I'm 99.9% that the 2 sword-wielder will be Lloyd Irving from Tales Of Symphonia. Still, I do really like the concept, it's definitely been interesting, and who knows? MAYBE we'll get some kind of content from Unrivaled: Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon in the supposed next Smash game whether, or not Shez themselves will be fully playable since we did get Zelda Unrivaled: Apocalypse Of The Calamity Spirits in Special, so, perhaps the same thing could still apply here (however, it's a much safer bet that content from the very recently announced upcoming new main series Fire Emblem game, Engage, is far more likely including the avatar character, Ryul, as a fully playable fighter)! At any rate, another solid Smash moveset concept, Delzethin! :D Love the new end banter too! Glad to see the 3 choices again (I'm all up for that Octoling)! Can't wait for the next CA video!

2:38 Okay, first off, screw people who say "Deserves to be in smash". Its a thinly veiled excuse just to say "I dont like this character/franchise and I want my character in instead." These people, and basically anyone who complains about "swordies" in Smash is why its so hard to talk about Fire Emblem in Smash Bros games. You know what I want? I'd like to see an FE Axer, or Lancer. I actually dont think FE is represented well because they've only done protagonists except for clones, and I actually do genuinely like seeing weapons repped. *but* a character using a sword doesnt make them a bad choice. The part that bothers me is when you get characters like Corrin and Byleth where it feels like they went "well they have a sword, BUT they also have this so you cant complain." Sora, Sephi, Pythra, etc. were all great choices, but Fire Emblem I think caused their own problems by just sticking with the player avatar every time. It would've been cool if FE was used to do those other weapon types, then maybe Byleth could've had divine pulse when they were added. Instead, we have Byleth using a spear and an axe for 3 moves each so now I cant even say "I'd like to see an Axer like Edelgard get in" without someone replying "we got Byleth so thats close enough." No. Its not. Ranting aside, It definitely looks like you just wanted to do a Shez moveset cause you liked the character and had cool ideas for the kit so I'm not gonna be mad at that. I just wanted to rant about the FE thing. As for the moveset *itself*, I think having all 4 special moves have its own gimmick is a bit too much, especially if they're all on the hud, but I think its an easy fix. Two of the special moves (side special and down special) are already based on offense, so that should be easy to follow, and you can even keep them on the HUD as separate resources. Up special I think you can also keep identical but you dont need it on the hud. Have a subtle visual que like a flash, or a glow, or maybe nothing at all and just have the move be weaker if its spammed and you'll be fine (*not* having a visual indicator of when the move is the buffed version can be its own mind-games versus an opponent who doesnt play Shez for example). Neutral special is the only thing I'd change personally because it does seem to be very similar to Robin's durability gimmick (cause same roots obviously), except you only refresh them on a stock, and I think it just feel like "another thing to manage" rather than something making them more complex and fun. I get its supposed to reflect the home game, but I think this is where you'd bend the rules a bit to keep the kit a bit more connected? What if Neutral special had a cooldown gimmick similar to Up special? Half the specials work on being aggressive and half the specials you wont be able to spam. Other than that, plenty cool kit. I tend to like fast/aggressive characters with things to manage so they'd probably be fun.

I'd probably go with Rhea (unless she and Yuri were Byleth's 7 and 8 recolors), or Lysithea for a magic user, or Gatekeeper to summon assists. With Gatekeeper, I like the idea of a SRPG character summoing some of the army's characters for attacks. I did that for a written moveset for Max from Shining Force, for example.

Hearing about the gimmick made me thought about Robin's gimmick. Seeing the gimmick is basically Robin's and Cloud's gimmick combined, but worse in some areas. I'm fine with the Side and Up Special since those sound like they would work well. I'm more concerned with the Neutral and Down Special for different reasons. - Neutral Special is because of I can't think of any move that becomes useless after a set number of uses except for ones that charge overtime or has a way to get it back. For example, all of Hero's Specials, Robin's Specials, Wario's Down B, and Inkling's Ink Attacks. There are also some where their moves didn't cost anything at all, even though their main game did such as Simon and Richter. I'm not saying that they shouldn't cost mana, but having it would more closer like Robin's, however to go with the cost for being more versatile, have a longer cool down than Robin's. - Down Special is like Cloud's and Joker's being a charging meter to go all out with your buff. I get the reasoning with how it works, working more with the charging mechanic of Little Mac, and that's fine I guess, but I wish it did more. Joker is a rush down, yet his Down Special acts as a counter while also charges his meter. I do get the Down B idea, but I wish it was more fleshed out to where doesn't only gets slightly more use than Wario's Down B. Other than that, I'm fine with the moveset as a whole. I don't really got much else to say.

I don't really care too much about the FE franchise anymore, but I'll at least say that it's interesting coming up with a moveset for a character that I bet not alot of peeps even heard of before and is probably irrelevant.

If we get a new smash game I think it should have about 50 characters and we should split the roster in half with old and new characters. Obviously we’d have our main stays but this would be the opportunity to get new characters, we could get Morrigan or Demitri, or Jedah, or Dante, or Shovel Knight, Shantae, Sans, etc. I like spirits as a mechanic and I think we should chill on fire emblem and maybe think about have at least one anime character in the game. We can make a rule so that if an anime character has been in at least three games they can a possible candidate for smash, I think that’s fair. Goku’s been in twenty plus games, he’s basically as much an anime character as he is a video game character, plus a lot of games have gotten shows and anime. Oh yeah for newcomers I want Alucard and Trevor Belmont, Dracula too. I want Geno, Eggman, Knuckles, Shadow, Tails, and Doom Slayer.

Heck yeah, Shez would rip as a Smash character, though I would be a little disappointed if the first Musou rep wasn't Lu Bu. I'd take them over Zhao Yun, though. Speaking of Fire Emblem in Smash, I have a feeling they're gonna use Alear to sneak in cameos from other popular Fire Emblem characters like Sigurd, Lyn, and Micaiah, though I'd much rather have a villain so they could summon figures like Gharnef, Arvis, and the Black Knight.

I think more fire emblem characters could be very interesting and unique as long as they either get rid of or massively cut the fire emblem characters that created the "anime swordfighter" stereotype that smash fans hate. add more fire emblem characters like Robin, Byleth, and Corrin and less like Marth, Lucina, Roy and Chrom.
