This song hit me like a ton of bricks when I first heard it in the 90s, just as I was beginning to see my life for what it was. I was 26 and basically trying to make others happy at my own expense. Hearing Sheryl belt out the chorus of this song was like an awakening, it brought to the surface everything I had suspected about my life. That was one of the catalysts for change over the next decade. I will never grow tired of this song.

The '90s were much more sane than present day and recent years. When we were in high school literally no one was trying to compete against the opposite sex in track & field. Now it's considered bigotry to prevent it. Where are the feminists? They went from "We must smash the patriarchy" to: "We must protect and defend the patriarchy". If you were a tomboy in school, no one recommended having a mastectomy and hormone blockers/replacements. During childhood I cannot recall one teacher talking about their gender pronouns, sexual orientation and political affiliation. How much worse will things become? Something has to give.

Nothin compares to the sound of the 90s. Also the look, the feel, the style, the trends. I think everyone misses the 90s especially because it was pretty much the last decade without advanced technology. Days when you still talked with people and your neighbors and not through text.

I will forever remember how one morning back in the mid-90's, I woke up in front of the tube, around 3AM, just as this video began playing and I then saw it for the first time. By the time she got to the first chorus I had maxed the volume (my TV was patched into my stereo) and by the time Sheryl got to the last chorus the top of my head had blown skyward with a little mushroom cloud coming out of the resulting crater. mr sir Thank you for saying that. I was a teenager in the 90's, and quite frankly, most of the music, like this song, sucked.
This song takes me back to the 90's. Working at a local Wimpy burger bar doing the late shifts and dealing with the numerous drunks that would come in when the clubs shut and start fighting. Every night we'd be dealing with some idiots which usually ended up in a mass brawl. We had a looped tape playing the same list of songs every night for months and happily this was one of the songs on it. More than once in the middle of a huge fight this song played and it all seemed okay.. Crazy days.. I miss them.. lol..

Totally Beautiful song
Everything in this video screams peak mid-90s: grungy soft rock, the blurry , intense colors, the weird stop-motion movements, getting really close to the camera, strange still-life group scenes.

I hope to meet her one day. I'm sure she never lost a thing from her glamor and voice.
I have had the biggest crush on Cheryl Crow for even even though she is 17 years older than me I just love her voice her looks and her talent
Sheryl Crow.....much celebrated but I think very underrated singer/artist. Right on par with Joan Jett, Deborah Harry, Crissy Hinds, damn quick on a dirt bike too, I've heard!!!

I cant believe its been 23 years since the wonderful 1990s ended; i consider myself very fortunate to have lived through the 90s as a young adult. Some things i miss: good music/going to record stores, magazine shops, playing my two favorite arcade games at the mall which were Mortal Kombat III and Killer Instinct, I miss our local mall (RIP Parmatown Mall), collecting B-grade horror movies on VHS, i miss going to death metal shows with my sister, having friends and being social....you get the picture. I hope that all the people i once knew are doing well and and i wish them every happiness, and you as well dear reader.

Congrats to your growth of being a guitarist! I’ve got a guitar in my closet I’ve put of for a while. I now want to create music. As a guitarist, the tones in this song, are the tones created simultaneously or is it a layering of tones put together to create a melody? Might sound like a silly question 😂

I remember being in 3rd grade in the back seat of our family's GM Allero. We had her bests hits, and I could sing it. I remember asking my dad if it was OK to sing the word hell. Now I'm 25 and he's got his back broken, the old Allero sits in the yard with its motor blown up. That old CD has been long lost.
