My favorite radio station went off the air, and I was bummed, but a minute later it's replacement came on the air with zero fanfare. "All I Wanna Do" began playing, and it was the first time most folks in Los Angeles ever got to hear Sheryl Crow. I thought, "Well, maybe I have a new favorite radio station." If I'd of known that Sheryl was my age, I would of realized that my generation had just taken the reins.

Sheryl, your experience of accidentally leaving your car running speaks volumes about the adaptability of our brains, especially as we transition to new technologies like electric cars. Our minds are incredibly skilled at filtering out 'background noise,' allowing us to overlook things like the absence of a traditional engine sound. This incident highlights the remarkable ability of the human brain to adjust to new norms. It's a reminder of how specific cues become ingrained in us over time, and how changing those cues requires our brains to adapt once again. I'd venture to say that someone who has driven gas vehicles their whole life might be less likely to make this oversight simply because they're attuned to the cues associated with starting and stopping an engine. It's a fascinating glimpse into the elasticity and adaptability of our cognitive processes. Former TBI rehab consultant.

I was in a music theory class at the University of Missouri, Columbia, and Sheryl Crow was in the class, along with my future ex-wife. Small world. The class was for music majors, and I was not a major. So, it was a big mistake as far as my grade went. Of course, I didn't know who Sheryl Crow was at the time, as she was not famous, yet; but I do remember what she looked like. She did have long curly or wavy hair. I'm a fan. I once saw her perform years later at the University of Missouri, and her singing voice is much more amazing live than it already is on her recordings.
