It's really like LOSING FAMILY. Crazy how a very few celebrity on TV can hit you that way. but Sherman Hemsley will be in my heart and my families heart forever. His comedy got us through some real hard times. I'm so glad video is forever. You will also live forever"George Jefferson/Deacon Frye" :-). Not just on film. But in the Kingdom of God. Thank you Sherman Hemsley for a lifetime of laughter. RIP

I remember where I was when I heard Sherman died. When Bernie Mac died I felt that same pain.

I grew up watching, "The Jeffersons" and will always remember how much laughter he brought to my heart. At 9 yrs old, I was a severely depressed child and to get me to laugh was not a simple task. He was brilliant and I will always appreciate his bold comedy. Tyler, thank you for using performers from a certain generation to remind us that they are valued and certainly appreciated for their work.

Another great icon lost forever....this man had a dance like no other, had an boss demeanor that only George Jefferson could portray, had a style that fit him to a T, had a sense-of-humor that made you laugh out loud. But most importantly, Sherman had character and a heart of gold. He will be remembered and missed. I'll never forget you Sherman, you were the best George Jefferson on the planet. RIP my friend :(

Rest in peace to one of my heros growing up. He carried the whole african race on his back by himself to be accepted in modern society by television. He was a successful Businessman who didnt take no for an answer but definitely admitted when he was wrong. I wish more black folks would model themselves after him...Stop the negative stigmas associated with being black today.

We will truly miss the man who made us all laugh. We can say that he can finally rest now from a life long of joy he gave to us. Rest in Peace.

Wow watching this video and being in the set of the Jefferson's up close and personal it's like a walk down your childhood. I grew up on the show.

Sherman was the first rich black man on TV that I had known. His acting ability created a atmosphere of true joy. We made it through hard times because of Sherman. Thanks for a zillion worth of laughs.

Wow I just realized the importance of life. I watch a preacher last night tell me that we need to give our time to our family and friends because we don't know when life will end and for Mr. Hensley I thank you for all that you did. Growning up watching you was inspiring and even though I possibly watched reruns back then I enjoyed every episode. RIP Sherman. As a child growing up in the 80's I have watched every episode of All in the family and The Jeffersons. God has given us a wonderful talent. Jesus has greeted you through the gates of Heaven. Young but not forgotten.

Wow...you never know what life will bring. Having spent, what you never knew were, some of the last days of Sherman Hemsley's life has got to be an overwhelmingly wonderful feeling. So glad you had that opportunity. He was truly one of my favorites.

Sherman Hemsley owned that role as George Jefferson. No one could have played that role better than him! Nobody! The whole cast was excellent back in the days. I really miss the show.

Again you have demonstrated how caring and considerate you are. Thank you we need more people like you.

Great video. We never know when it is our last performance or last minute of anyday. We must strive to do our best while we can. May his soul rest in peace with God. Love you Sherman.

I loved watching the Jeffersons, Sherman Hemsley was so funny as George. To read that he had no wife/children was so sad. Thank you Sherman for all you gave & I know that God has another angel in heaven. It's been a sad year with so many "greats" leaving us. Thank You Tyler for letting him be on the show. I remember Easter 1978. My 7 year old brother had on a black pin strip suit and my mother sent him to store. I saw my brother a mile away walking home doing the George Jefferson strut to a "T." I said all man.

I was just watching the first part of Georges (Shermans) final appearance on House of Payne, as IMDb listed it as his final tv appearance with his wonderful sidekick, Florence (Marla), as I wasn't happy with how the powers that be involved with the final season of The Jeffersons didn't have the kind of proper send off the show deserved!!!!!!!!!!!! This is REALLY touching and I love Sherman and Marlas appearance, it's like they never left us.......(I still have to watch the entire episode!!!!!) AND to find out while on IMDb that Elvis' (My favourite entertainer ever, but I love George/Sherman/The Jeffersons and Archie/Caroll/All in the Family too!!!!!) maid mentions that The Jeffersons was one of his favourite shows, he sure had great taste!!!!!!!!!!!!

As being child in 80's and watching your joyful serial the jeffersons in Turkey and enjoying...I'm really sad, rest in peace and sure Allah is with you and helps you dear Sherman....
