This is a worthwhile topic, but really should discuss spaced armor, and it’s effects on each ammo type. As such, switching ammo often means aiming for a different spot on your target.

ISU 130 has special Premium ap shells that improve damage slightly while reducing pen slightly as well

Good video. I liked watching this. I'm curious, can HEAT pen sheridan's spaced? because they're basically flat sheets of metal welded on the tank. Or does the distance between the armor and the spaced armor not matter?

Depends on the pen value of the heat I’m not sure it has to be 3xs the thickness of the armour so if the tank has 20mm spaced it will have to be above 60mm of penn plus the pen you’d need to pen the tank to but you can HE a sheri turret

BESH is my favorite. It can drink half hp of a maus, and one shoot some tanks.

Sweatchman you forgot the AP gold version on KV-2. But thx I know how to use kv-2 better

Sumarized for the ammunitions that tank uses. AP: Good for pretty much any situation have penetration fall off. APCR: Very good against fast moving targets due to high velocity have the worst penetration fall off. HEAT: No Penetration Fall off but it will be totally useless against walls or fences. So don’t use this ammunition next to it. HE: Big Alpha with very smol pen. But, it also carries no penetration fall off. Non pen can cause splash damage. HESH: An Upgrade version of HE shells. In blitz there’s not much of a difference apart from more pen. Does have splash damage. APHE (gold AP that does more pen): Literally have better alpha than AP but worse pen. Kpz70 should use APFSDS instead of APCR due to the fact that those 152 are smooth bore gun. As APCR requires a rifled gun to operate.

the frankenstiens premium ap (bigger gun) gives more damage = less pen

Hesh is not HE. Squash head rounds penetrate the armour, and when the whole round gets destroyed, that's when the explosives explode

i would go ap, hesh, apcr as my top 3. btw, apcr>heat always because of normalization and space armor pen. (i am biased due to being hori and t110e3 main)

he is great on TD's (tank destroyers) especialy the back of their armor idk how it is on X tier IX or VIII tier im still on VI VII tier

I think they should remove apcr as a standard shell. Everybody knows that apcr has worse shell normalization and it is noticable as a standard shell and i think it gives you a disadvantage

Yeah I agree, just look how WG ruined 60tp, now it has shit penetration!

2:25 “never ricochet” doesnt mean it can pen at high angles. (Its actually trash for angled armor due lack of shell normalization.)

That's why calibrated shells gives 10% extra pen for he and heat rather than the 5% on ap and apcr

In War Thunder, if you use HE in lightly armored tanks There is a chance that you might kill 2 or more tanks with a single shell

Cool video, however you have made a mistake. HEAT shells do have a possibility to ricochet but only at >85 degrees! Please do not misinform people and do your research (or more of it)

I'd rather use HEAT shells and it's my favorite one.

Forgot one more type of shell that has some specific tanks: SU-100Y and ISU-130

AP is always the shell I use

Heat is the best ammo i think don mad at me but heat is hard to bounce and doesn't decrease pen when in long range

Well in my experience, when heat shells hit a track it won't pen the main hull (experience many times in T49)

@@robocopvsterminator4594APCR is for angles and tanks that have angles on them heat is for flat targets like E-100s but you have enough APCR pen like the 372 ish on the WT Ritter it’s better HEAT shell speed is shocking and APCR hit commander’s hatches better than heat

Can't see the armour colour difference playing on a mobile phone so I don't use High Explosive rounds very often.

Not all tanks in the game have improved HE, only tanks like the T49 have it.

The different shells are made for different situations. It doesn't make sense to rank them.

I did hit a Sheridan with HE in jg pz e100... he ded

When i am whit kv-2 and i see kv-1S on the side whit 1000 life im loading the death row which does 900-1200 damage 💀

i think that: AP is normal APCR is like AP but more pen, usually the fastest shell HEAT usually have the most pen, but the slowest and gets annihilated by the slightest touch of screen armor(and objects) HE has biggest damage, but lowest pen and gets annihilated like HEAT but still could deal damage

Their premium ammo not mentioned. It has LESS penetration than the normal AP but does more damage. Useful for thin skinned light tanks or TD's. Eg great way of killing a Hellcat. Same gun and ammo also found at tier 7 on SU130 and Tankenstein.

Works same as HESH. About only difference is HESH only found on some British tanks eg Charioteer, and HEP only on German tanks. Specifically tier 8 RU251 and M41D "Cruel twist". With the Brits HESH is a premium ammo option and costs to use. With the Germans though it replaces HE. I run both of mine with ammo split equally between AP, Prammo and HEP.

Quite a bad tier list. Into lower plate of the E100 AP is the best. At and angled hull where you can't see cheeks HE is the best if you have high caliber. Into thin armor tanks HE is outclassed everyone. Hesh is more usful because it can pen more. Standard ammo is the king until better opportunities arise. APCR or Heat for pramo doesn't matter that much for which one. APCR losses pen but is way easier to hit targets from a distance. Heat doesn't loose pen over the distance but way harder to hit moving tanks from a distance and can also be rendered useless on space armor. Let alone to not mention that you forgot to point out shell normalization on shell types.

You use renewable equipment on your tanks, such as food or such. You pay for that each game. You also pay for use of premium ammo and repairs of your tank

Apcr is better than heat when you shot against spaced armor like is 7 tracks while heat shells will be blocked by tracks
