Shelf Employment | Supermarket Simulator - Part 1 (Supermarket Manager Game - Early Access)

Supermarket Simulator is a game that, perhaps unsurprisingly, puts us in charge of our very own supermarket! We buy products, we sell them on, we hire staff, we expand the supermarket, we buy furniture, we even get to a spot of decoration!
Although to be fair our supermarket is not particularly super to begin with, because we only have two shelves and a fairly small range of products.
We begin by ordering in a few basics, like pasta, cooking oil and flour, and we pop them onto the shelves! Then we open up the shop, take a seat at the checkout and wait for the customers to come in and buy stuff.
However because there's only us working in the supermarket we also have to leave the checkout for a while to order new products, pick up the deliveries and restock the shelves, so we have to be quick because we don't want to keep people waiting!
Also we save up enough money to buy a fridge, we get lost a bit whilst exploring the local area and we earn enough cash to expand our product range to include the most important of all products... TEA!
NOTE: This is the Early Access version of the game.

You can easily put the prices a little bit higher than the 'market price' suggests. The customers won't mind. Not the tea though, still gotta reel the people in😄 I'm really enjoying your videos and your humour! Thanks so much

Especially when they would do this first thing in the morning. >:/ Really excited to see how you can expand your shop from here though!! :D Keep on Keeping On, Penge, and thank you for doing what you do!

Great video! Viewer from across the pond here. Not sure why, but eggs always go in the fridge here. I'm NOT a kitchen whiz, but I understand that the powdered sugar (which is also called confectioner's sugar here) is ground up "regular" sugar, which is called granulated sugar here.

Oh, I actually know about the eggs thing! It's got to do with farming practices and how they vary. In the USA, eggs are washed before being sold to rid them of contaminants, but that also destroys the eggs natural barrier on the shell, so they need refrigerated. In Europe (and other places), farmers follow a different vaccination protocol so they don't need to wash the eggs, so they are safe to store at room temperature. As I understand it, switching fully to the European protocol would be a large expense, so the USA hasn't changed. In the USA, people also expect perfection and hyper-cleanliness from store bought goods. In other parts of the world, a dirty egg means you brush it clean or rinse it at home. In the US, it'd raise a hellstorm of Karens complaining about them.

In the UK (at least as far as I am aware) there are three types of white sugar Granulated sugar which you would use to add to cereal or a cup of tea Caster sugar -I have just googled this, it is not so easily available in the US but is called superfine sugar, Caster sugar is a little finer than granulated and is used to make cakes or meringues Icing sugar, which is like flour but... made of sugar. Surprisingly enough, icing sugar is used to make icing to go on cakes. I think our icing sugar is what you would call powdered sugar

Wow ok. I thought its another name for icing sugar (im from NZ so a commonwealth country) so is confectioner’s sugar the same as our castor sugar? Castor is finer than regular white sugar.

I wouldn't be interested in this type of games but as usual you make it very enjoyable, so count me in! Many of the products are French, like the sugar and the pasta brand (Panzani in France). Even the tea logo is based on the one for 'Compagnie des Thés', I believe.

A good idea is to set all the prices as closest whole or half numbers to the market price. For example: if market price is $3.17 set the price to $3.50 or $3.00 so that you don’t need to calculate change for too long. Great game!

Congratulations on not short-changing, with help from the cash register telling you how much, lol!! 🤣 When I was a very young 16 year old cashier, I had to pack the bags, key in all the prices manually and do the sums to work out the change... 🤣🤣🤣 That's a huge world for one little shop. I wonder what the dev has planned...🤔 Also, when there's a huge pile of boxes, I wonder what happens if you take the box from the bottom... Do they all fall over? Edit: question answered later... 🙂

I hadn't noticed the 25 customer limit, is it 25 every day? I guess it makes sense, and when you make the store bigger you get more people, seems a tad too rigid mathematically but if that's how it works that's how it works!
