    Stupid Malarky. I may not like Sheldon, but he right about this stuff. Furthermore, Leonard was also right to not support Penny’s belief either; she never cut her hair to try to become famous, and if she had, it wouldn’t have happened. TBF though, that episode was really stupid; the writers REALLY, made Leonard doubt being in a relationship with Penny over her belief in Hokum and Malarkey. That makes no sense, since he was pining for her for two seasons, and he finds THAT to be a deal breaker. Hell, even Howard said that stuff like that didn’t bother him; he was ALMOST willing to get a tattoo just to have “cheap sex”. That’s how far Howard was almost willing to go. Furthermore, Amy is a biologist, which makes BOTH of them discovering this VERY unrealistic. It would make more sense if Sheldon had discovered this with Leonard, Raj, or even Howard. Not to mention the fact that it actually takes YEARS for one to be able to win a Nobel Prize. To be honest though, I mostly just don’t like Amy; the show was better without her.

    @@BenE8844- it’s a comedy series. It shouldn’t be taken so seriously. It’s fiction and the writers Clearly used this as foreshadowing and a hint of what their eventual plans were for the characters. I suspect they always had Sheldon winning a Nobel prize as their ending and it was only because Jim parsons decided to leave the show after season 12 that they moved into their final phase plans of having him win a Nobel prize.

    I think her being similar to Missy might’ve helped considerably, but there’s too many differences for me to feel like it’s a sibling-like connection between the two. I think it’s a deep Platonic bond- one of the kinds you rarely see, and I think a big reason for that is because we restrict ourselves with specific types of relationships. Regardless: I also love the connection Penny and Sheldon have.

    Sheldon and Penny had the best relationship because they saw each other as equals and respected one another. With everyone else there was always one party that held significantly more power than the other- with leonard and Penny it was Penny, with Leonard and Sheldon it was Sheldon, with Raj and Howard it was Howard, with Bernadette and Howard it was Bernadette etc.- but though they were very different people, neither were afraid to stand up to the other so they developed a brother sister relationship. If it was anyone else they wouldn't have even gotten Sheldon close to the psychic, but with Penny he barely resisted.

  • @uncannysnake

    @uncannysnake

    8 ай бұрын

    I disagree, The effect is the same in the end, but they absolutely did not see each other as equals. They both saw the other as beneath oneself. When someone proposes something it is mainly "Ugh, silly girl/boy, guess I will play along to make em happy." Mainly semantics because the practical effect is the same as it would be if they really saw each other as equals, but I think it is an important distinction

  • @elainagilbert7663

    @elainagilbert7663

    They grew together. Sheldon became a lot more relaxed in later seasons and Penny became a lot more career-focused. Without realizing it, they helped each other. Nobody was expected or required to change. They expanded each other's horizons and even though they had very little in common, they were proof that you can be a good friend to somebody just by being kind to them. When Leonard and Penny broke up the first time, Sheldon was more excited about eating spaghetti with little pieces of hotdog cut up in it with Penny than he was about Chinese food with his other friends. I think he knew how much his other friends tolerated him because he was Leonard's roommate, but Penny was the first person who genuinely cared about him despite all of his quirks and flaws. They had patience for each other and, on a subconscious level, especially for Sheldon, that solidified their bond irrevocably. He came the same distance to her as she did to him which is partly why I wish the writers had stuck to their original plan of Sheldon and Penny being together.

  • @projecttanulii

    @projecttanulii

    8 ай бұрын

    ig that’s the beauty of drama. That relationships are very much open to interpretation. However, it is important to note that your “ugh silly girl/ boy” hypothesis can be dismissed with the very many scenes between penny and Sheldon, Sheldon often uses penny’s advice and often look for solace in her companionship. So I’d say it’s more so- “let’s be good friends- ig I’ll try to see it through your lense” as opposed to “you don’t know enough, but let me play along to your dumb tunes ”. Mainly because even prior to this scene it was revealed that they had a similar difficulty career wise. But then again like you said, “semantics” :))

  • @uncannysnake

    @uncannysnake

    8 ай бұрын

    @@projecttanulii I certainly agree to the second dynamic of it. Both realize that the other one is very good at their own fields (Sheldon with scientific studies and logic and Penny with social intelligence) and respect that about each other. I would not call it viewing each other as equals, but the "Ugh" and the "Maybe you know something I don't know" certainly are both at play here. Both are equally bad at going out of their own comfort zones, Sheldon does not like change or lack of closure, Penny does not like commitment, which are quite the polar opposites too
