Museum and tribute to the great Carroll Hall Shelby
He was undoubtedly a great automobile icon for the United States, like Enzo Ferrari was for Italy. He overcame different obstacles in his life but he never gave up.
He was born with a heart problem that always stayed with him. He lived in World War II where he was a flying instructor instructor and test pilot. He began his working life from the bottom, beginning in the waste business and branching out to others, such as bird breeding, which eventually led him to bankruptcy when he all got sick from an epidemic.
However, all these health and business problems did not prevent him from ending up in the racing world. He was a great runner and an official pilot for Aston Martin and Maserati. He achieved the record at the Hill Climb Auto Race in 1956 and he won Le Mans 24 hours a day in 1959. In 1960, doctors gave him a bleak prognosis; he had 5 more years of life at most. But as a great runner and engine enthusiast, he didn't surrender and in 1962, he created Shelby American company dedicated as driving school and automobile preparation of famous models such as; AC Cobra, Shelby Daytona Coupe, Ford Mustang, Ford GT40, Dodge Viper, Shelby Series I...
He brought success to some models of great automotive brands such as AC, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Oldsmobile...
being the author of Ford's 4 consecutive victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (from 1966 to 1969) dethroning the historic winner of Ferrari. The film "Le Mans 66" includes a small summary of his life played by Matt Damon.
He died in 2012 leaving an incredible legacy, and continued his passion for the engine until the end.
