In most cases it comes down to the designers experience. You just need to think about the forming method. Is it a technician performing a manual bend. Alternatively will the sheet be placed in a press tool. Some shapes can be formed in more than one operation.

@@PDWCreative I understand, thank you for explaining. I was just "playing around" with the CAD for learning how to use it: should I eventually need to have something actually produced, I'll ask those who're gonna have to build it.
