SHEEPSHEAD CHALLENGE! Bogue Inlet Pier, Emerald Isle NC
Спорт
It is July 25th and the best Sheepshead caught at Bogue Inlet Pier is 2 pounds 10 ounces? That is not good enough, check out how I resolve this issue and what you can do to best me in 2022. Good Luck this summer you little skittle lickers.
Shimano Torium 20HG - Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod 6'6" Heavy, Medium Fast
100 Pound Power Pro, 50 Pound Fluorocarbon Leader
Double Hook Carolina Rig taught in "Early Spring Sheepshead" episode at 2:38.
Catch Sea Urchins on pilings and other structure below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, the spines are non-venomous but can leave splinters and oyster cuts are nasty), I recommend using a crab net.

Great video!! OKF gettin' it done son!
That was awesome ... another great video !!
great video thanks for all the tips
Bought a little 15 foot boat. My son is now fixing up some things. I’ve fished all my life having grown up on Long Island. He lives in Pelletier and works at Ace Marine Supply in Morehead. His name is Nick. If you’re ever there say hello to him. We both respect you as a person and great fisherman. Can’t wait to see you on the water. Boats name is Old and Salty. God bless and keep the videos coming brother!

I love that store, I will say hello next time I stop by. See you on the water!
Very impressive!!
According to my math, that first sheep (6.68 pounds) was actually 6 pounds 10.88 ounces . Hmmmm...

You are absolutely correct!
Pretty awesome fishing
I don’t know how to catch urchins but I’m gonna have to soak some crab pots and load up on blue crabs to do this!
I was at the pier yesterday. Your name is still there haha.
Nice catches and interesting rig!

That rig is a sheepshead and drum slayer! Speaking of his rig… we need an Off Kilter T-shirt with that rig as the graphic!
Goodmorning to you sir
Brian, nice sheep man! I am right in Newport, lets go fishing sometime!
Nice catches!
Going after some giants with half crab on the bridge this weekend. Would love to see you out there

Good luck out there!
That's an interesting rig, looks like a double drop rig under a knocker rig. What size hooks you using? Size weight? Or is it dependent on water flow?

I teach this rig in the video "Early Spring Sheepshead" at 2:38. I usually use between 2 and 4 ounces depending on current.
Great video! If it took you a bucket of urchins to get three sheepshead, then I'm feeling a little better about my poor hook up ratio. I still don't get one near as big as you find.

I like to let them eat several to get a group of them feeding then they fight over the bait when it hits the bottom like a feeding frenzy. I go through lots of bait, but it usually pays off.
now i know i can swing a six lbr over the rail excellent work!!

I use 100 lb power pro and 80 lb fluoro leader. As long as the hook is set good, no problem.
Hey so how do you know if they are at the pier? Is that they are always there or do they move to the back waters?
When you describe dropping the rod tip before setting the hook, is that to take slack, or are you lowering the rig in the water too?

I am fishing on the bottom, I drop the rod tip to put slack in the line. Kind of like tying a string to a loose tooth and attaching to a door knob. Put slack in the line and then slam the door. Learned it from Bill Dance.

@@offkilterfishing Thanks for the tip. Tried for sheeps a few times around morehead, still haven’t mastered it yet. Love the videos.
Awesome! I’m visiting from Las Vegas and was able to watch you land the monster! Great job! Where can I find that bait?!

I catch my own (look in description). They sell them at Chasin Tails tackle shop.
Hey Brian would be willing to show a fellow tarheel from Raleigh how catch some sheep's next time I go in October
Where can I get urchins to use as bait? I see the sheeps head all the time around the pilings but I'm used to bottom fishing. I've caught a couple of tiny ones by accident using shrimp on the high hook of a bottom rig lol

Check the description, they are everywhere this year. You do need a boat or kayak to get them though...
I’ve been watching your Chanel for so long. Would you please show me where you caught those baits? Thank you for your kindness.👍👍👌👌💯💯👏👏

Hi, Ryan. My husband is a huge fan of your KZread show. He would like to connect with you and find out more information about keeping sandfleas and small crabs preserved for winter use. What is the best way to reach you, via email, etc.? We live here in Cedar Point, NC.

You can find urchins at several local tackle shops. I know Chasing Tails usually has them at certain times of the year.
Do you have a job or are you a commercial fisherman
