Sheep Farm Vlog #82 - We ran 75 sheep through our new Lakeland Handling System!

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

The Good of Work: It's about Sheep, Wool, Making Yarn, Tools and Equipment, and Farm Life.
In episode #82 you will see how we used the Lakeland Sheep Handling System I just bought to trim their feet. We started out kind of slow, but eventually got into a rhythm, and figured out how to get the sheep through quickly and safely. And I trimmed all their feet in one day!

Thanks Karla, still a lot to learn, but in the long run I think it will make tending the flock a lot easier and safer.

Great job! I guess the sheep will get accustomed to the equipment in time. It looked efficient! 👏👏

Thanks Beverley! Yes, it feels pretty good to have had run them all thru - I am really happy with the decision to add this equipment to our arsenal of tools!

that was really interesting to see you using your new handling system. I like how you have it set up. a friend of mine has a similar handling system and I've helped send the sheep through many times. Having someone behind the sheep that they don't trust really helps them move forward through the handling system.

Thanks Kim - that is a great idea - its all about understanding how sheep behave isn't it?

Love your new handling system. Beats when we used to trim hooves on a trim stand😅

Oh my gosh it is so much easier! I was pretty tired at the end, but it felt great to have run everyone through. Plus, much of the time was learning curve, so should go a lot quicker as we get used to it.

I would so find a way to somehow fall into that squeeze thing and not be able to get out. Or close the latches on each one of my fingers. The only thing that would get handled by that system is *me*
