    For future reference: demonstration starts at 2 minute mark. When working with a yarn that has a tendency to catch there are a couple things you can do to ensure this bind-off method looks tidy. When you have 3 stitches on the needle: cast-off middle stitch and then right stitch singly, not as a pair-- this avoids a knotty appearance. Also when you have 3 stitches on the needle: pull stitches tight once needle is inserted before casting off to avoid holes near the edge of your work. This cast-off is easy to get wrong if you don't do these things, but easy to get right if you do 👍 Happy knitting!!!

    And here I thought I discovered it! I hate the flare too but realized I could add stretchiness with the YOs, but just do half as many. Thanks for officially noting this for others.

    It really helps if you properly pay attention when learning this or if it's been awhile. I keep looking down to see I've been knitting 2x2 rib instead of casting off and having to undo several stitches. I also recommend feeling the cast off as you work for any knots which happens every time I cast off the 2 stitches together instead of passing over the yo first then the prior stitch.

    A little finicky, but worth it. Thanks. Much better than the simple pattern cast-off I tried and looks better than the other stretchy bind-off I saw a video on... although with the texture of the wool I used it looked a bit knottier than I would have liked. Still, I am making ankle warmers for me so who cares?

    Hi Sheena, love the demo. I do 1 X1 rib. I noted that you replied to "dopesheepify" that for 1x1 you would do it between each set. So I want to clarify. Does that mean: K1, YO, Cast off; P1, YO, Cast off; K1, YO, Cast off, and so on. Is that correct?

    Hi I'm trying your BO technique for a cardigan sleeve bind off, which is purl all the away. I purl 1, yo, purl again then slip off 2 like you did and just carried on doing that. But I'm getting these little bumps along the edge, and it is the same stretchiness as the normal bind off. Is that how it's supposed to be? Am I doing something wrong?

    I was doing a 2x2 and inconsistently getting knots. I thought it was just the texture of my yarn is a bit difficult, but now I wonder if when you have two stitches and a yarn over on the right needle you should cast off the middle stitch then the right stitch for consistent results. I have a feeling doing two stitches at once may lead to inconsistent results and reversing that may give a knotty appearance. Just a guess.

  • @annemariebenoit4263

    @annemariebenoit4263

    4 жыл бұрын

    I have confirmed that when you have 3 stitches on the needle (or technically 2 and a yarn over) casting-off the middle stitch first and then the right stitch singly, instead of both at once, got rid of the knotty appearance for me. Hope this helps on future knitting projects!!!
