Sheathing a Roof DIY

Just a quick video of how I did the sheathing on the roof of my garage addition. I am not a professional, this is just my experience and thank you for watching!

You just proved to me exactly what I was taught many years ago , you block at the top & at the end of your walls. That ensures all rafters/trusses are exactly spaced & you wouldn’t have had to go through all of that after you tacked your first sheet. That being said, your video was great for teaching the dyi’r how to stop & fix it ! Good video just the same. 👍

Hi What size of nails are you using, let's say for 1/2 for 5/8 and for 3/4 what measures should be used in Florida for example

I believe I used hot dipped galvanized 2 3/8 length .113gauge 30 degree nails, def make sure using galvanized for exterior, also in Florida the building specs are different I believe for hurricane and harsher weather winds, would Check local codes…nailing patterns may also be different, if you get really by the book inspectors they will ask…mine was not tho

Scott, looking at doing something similar, adding onto an existing garage. Never enough room! Roughly what are the costs coming in it?

The Menards Kit I went with was ~$16k plus concrete costs, I’ll do a breakdown of cost video. It’s taken about 5 weeks thus far because I work full time as well. Thanks for watching!
