My first dive computer was an Aqualung i330r integrated with the pressure gauge,.. the computer crashed on me after just 18 dives (I’m AOW certified, so hadn’t taken it further than around 95ft below). Aqualung repaired it but it wiped out the last 3 dives I did. I bought my wife a Shearwater Peregrine after she decided to become my lifelong Scuba-buddy and finished her OW certification, and after seeing how well hers worked and all the features, I bought another Shearwater Peregrine for myself. I’m looking forward to using it for the first time in our upcoming dives in Cozumel in a couple of weeks. Keeping my Aqualung as my backup. My wife loves hers and hopefully I won’t ever have to buy another dive computer,… thanks for sharing your experience with Shearwater, I have even more confidence now that buying these two Shearwater Peregrines was a very good investment.

I had terrible experiences with the Aqualung i200. Multiple issues with less than 20 dives on. Happy to have shared my experience with Shearwater and happy to see you have made a great choice in dive computer brands.

I went with a cheap computer when I started. It worked. I could barely read it in the water, but it worked. I bought a secondhand Perdix AI, and love it. I can read that thing anywhere, I can dive my entire career on it (unless I need more than 4 transmitters someday)… great computer and company. That stated, I don’t think it’s for everyone. Not all divers need its functionality and could save a lot with a less expensive computer. Travel only recreational divers are never going to need all its power.

Exactly. My $300 Suunto and Cressi Leonardo are all I need for Nitrox recreational diving. Spending any more is a fool's errand. Feel sorry for the bloke who posted he needed a Shearwater for recreationa diving...probably a very insecure "Christmas tree" diver 😂 😂 😂

I almost went cheap when I was choosing my dive computer. I told myself I was only diving reefs, and occasionally using Nitrox, so a $200 computer was all I needed. I’m so glad I waited and saved up for what I truly wanted. I ended up getting the Peregrine, and I love it! Then a few months later, I bought a used Teric with the swift transmitter for a deal I could not pass up, so now I have two computers, lol

Haha I recently bought a Shearwater myself after having done a lot of research and comparison, so I clicked on this video thinking, "Well, well, well...let's see what he's got to say now." Now I'm glad my decision to go with Shearwater was just reaffirmed :D

Best decision in dive gear you have ever made.

Just had a similar experience… I had the PerdIX Ai since October 2019. Total rebuild with new chassis, screen, glass, buttons etc. all for the handling fee! I can’t recommend them enough!

I had a very similar experience with my Shearwater Teric… the most amazing customer service I’ve ever experienced. This is a great company, with an excellent range of computers all based on the same basic system. I have no problem enthusiastically recommending Shearwater dive computers to anyone I dive with.

Buy a shearwater, it is the industry standard. Every class you take from here on out the instructor will be well versed in shearwater and will be easily able to assist you and your classmates more effectively

^ Another shearwater diver. Definitely recommend their computers. It worked like a charm every time. Intuitive interface and you know exactly when you need to replace a battery. Their customer service has been top notch for me, although I didn't have major issues.

Their customer is awesome, and next level with regards HUDs on the JJ!

I bought the descent mk2 i. I love it but wish I would have purchased the shearwater after issues with the receiving of transmitter signals. Garmin did take care of it but that didn’t help while I was on a month long trip to Indonesia.

Scuba Pro will also send replacements instead of fix. I tech dive and use a G2 and HUD.

Sounds like a great product from a good company. I just don't want to spend the money for the features I might not ever use. I have three Cressi computers One of which suffered a malfunction. It was out of warranty and the company fixed it for free with about a 30 day turn around. About $20 in shipping.

Shearwater computers are amazing, glad they sent a replacement. I find the video title slightly misleading though, or is it just clickbait?

I think most of us love our Shearwater dive computers....The best.

bought myself a Peregrine a couple of years ago and i love it. worth every penny.

100% agree!

Garmin does this too. I scratched my screen and called them to see what options I had to get the screen replaced. They took a deposit and sent me a new one so I could keep diving. When I got the new one I sent the scratched one back and they refunded my deposit. My out of pocket cost was $172 with tax. A little more than the $47 but shoot I’ll take a new computer every couple years for that.

Lucky YOU ARE mine was 3 years old ( second time i was sending back for repairs ) and it cost me USD 400 TO GET IT FIXED at Narked@90 in UK and Shearwater Research NEARLY said it was NORMAL . 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Love my Perdix AI with transmitter. Will never use anything other than Shearwater products.

Buy once ... cry once. Love my Shearwater computers

agree 💯. I see the new shearwater that just came out for the rec diver as a game changer. not everyone needs the rec features however the new AI shearwater should be great for most.
