Shear Modulus of Hybrid Hydrogel - Part 5 - Testing Procedure

Ғылым және технология

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) is an optical method relying on set of images to track 2D changes within images. Multiple synchronized sets can also be used to track 3D changes within images. It offers full field analysis of material and enables the characterization of local mechanical properties as well as interaction between components in a compound of materials. As a non-contact displacement and strain measurement method, it enables characterization of soft materials without interfering with their mechanical properties. This analytical method is thus well adapted for assessment of biological and composite material, as well as geometrically complex materials, submitted to different constraints, and exhibit inhomogeneities and anisotropic behaviour. As a method of full field assessment of material, results from these analyses can also be used as validation for finite element (FE) models. This laboratory module consists of assessing mechanical properties of both hybrid neoprene and agarose hydrogel samples using DIC.
