I was at the last game ever at Shea. If we won we would’ve gone to the playoffs and it wouldn’t have been the last game ever there. Totally broke my heart and even when the Mets got to the World Series in 2015 I wasn’t really into it because of their collapses in 2007 and 2008.

RIP William A. Shea Municipal Stadium from a Yankee fan. I remember the Yankees using Shea temporarily when the original Yankee Stadium renovated during the 1974 and 1975 season and in one game in 1998 where a beam collapsed. Shea may not have the history as the original YS, but it hosted some memorable games including the 1986 WS Game 6 against the Red Sox, the 2000 Subway Series Game 5 thriller, and Games 6 and 7 vs. the Cardinals in the 2006 NLCS.

Thanks for posting. Kind of sad it brought back lots of memories. Shea is where I saw my first mlb game back in 1965, Met vs Dodgers. I will always remember the green of the grass and the lights. Dodger pitcher Don Drysdale hit a home run to win the game that night. I also remember seeing Fernando Valenzuela (yeah I'm a Dodger fan) at a sold out game during "Fernando Mania". Great job and thanks again for posting.

@@rudolphguarnacci197 No. He had several relief appearances in 1980. The NY Mets start was like his 7th or 8th start of 1981. My friends and I used to go to Shea and walk up and just buy tickets. This game was different. We walked to several ticket booths before we realized things were different for this game. So we just picked a booth and stood in line to by tickets. Glad we did that because the seats were in the upper, upper deck in the last section of Shea.

how the heck were these folks allowed in there without hardhats?
Risky adventure, but good documentary. Glad you didn't talk too much while recording. You leave the viewers to watch in peace.
were u allowed to go in there. and yea tht was risky but sweet. Its almost creepy to go inside such a huge stadium while being demoilshed. by the way what happened during the video when u said oh my God @ 5:50. Neway sick video.

If only these walls could talk, sad to see Shea in such disrepair
Next time you should go check out the locker rooms, might find some cool old stuff?
Joe Carter, Homerun, 93 World Series.... MVP dont forget it house that Joe built COUNT IT!!
I was waiting to hear, "HEY! You kids-get your asses outta here!". Good job all around. I walked those aisles since 1966and I'm gonna miss it all. But...how DID you get in there? An off day for da crew?
I would had taken a piece with all the history the Beatles playing here the Mets winning the 1969 World Series
I don't know why it is so hard for grown people to shoot video without the camera jumping up and down like a yo-yo. Why is that?
Bob Murphy "we'll be back with the happy rebar"
In the end it was a Dump but it was our Dump....
i went to my first ever met game there in 08 the mets won i cried when i found out it was getting taken down i was 5 so i dont have much memory besides when somebody hit a homerun
that would be something! i wish i can be around to see it!!
I wonder how Bill Buckner felt about the demolition of Shea
Miss it
I miss you Shea.
memory serves me correct an off duty nypd officer made this video and he got suspended because of it . 6:00 mark where my seats were for game 6 in 1986
interesting view
Why did they get rid of Shea Stadium? The Mets loved their home field!

There was talk of a replacement as early as 1998. In the end, it became out of date and not practical to renovate (it can actually cost more to renovate)
Does anyone know of any videos for yankee stadium demolition that r like this one
YEAH REALLY HOW DID YOU?
@ DogtownSkater777 I AGREE 10000000000000%, But, the old one will never be replaced. :'(
thats what i wonder to
@TheChocobread So What?????
thats sad
Saw The Who there in 1982.
shea stadium running wild
That has to be one of stupidest things ever written. The end of a ballpark vs. the end of more than 2,000 lives? Are you kidding me?
August 15th 1965....
Pearl Bailey is crying in her grave.........
Buckner!!!!!!! 10/25/86

I grew up there watching my Mets and I actually miss it and it's history....New place doesn't have it.Tired of these teams leveling there history
they must have did that early in the morning
That was almost like what my dad said about Shea; a dump. But to be fair, he is a Yankee fan while I'm a Met guy.
@screamingskull1995 Meh.. Do you know how many greats played here. This is destruction of history. :-( I hate seeing old parks go.

+scissors65 Yes it is a shame. I cant even count how many famous legendary sports stadiums in the United States have been demolished the past 20 years or so, Very sad indeed.:(

Fenway and Wrigley are landmarks in the heart of their respective cities. Shea was a dump in the heart of flushing chop shops. That thing needed to go. Get over it. Citi Field is beautiful
