Congrat's on your successful Musky outing. Even the one that got away was a partial win. Your daughter reminds me of mine when she was that age. Start her fishing early and she will continue for a lifetime. My (now)adult daughter, her husband, and new grandson accompany me often. It's a great family activity.

Little advice from someone who nets alot of his own fish, get the net hoop up on the edge of the boat as soon as you can then when you need it you just have to grab the handle and use the edge for leverage. Also when you think it's time to grab the net it's not another crank or two with the reel is usually helpful.

Awesome! I am going to try some musky fishing this summer... from my kayak and on the fly. That will be a tough challenge! BTW that UW shot with the musky chilling on the bottom and walleyes swimming by was great! Cheers!

Looks like fun, I recognize a couple of those rocks. Great job. I recognize the disappointment, my wife lost a PB largemouth last fall, but she still has the largest by over a pound.

I almost always fish solo so this is relevant. Netting muskies solo is probably easier than with a partner because I can feel the fish on the line. 11:38 "...ask herself what happened?" She was abducted by an alien, beamed up to the mothership 😂

This is the THIRD spot already tonight and I haven't seen a fish. HAHAHAHA! I've fished for 3 fuckin' days straight, sun-up to sun-down and not seen a fish in our awesome musky lakes here in Wisconsin.

I will NEVER understand why right-handed fishermen insist upon using reels with handles on the right hand side. It's so much easier to control a bait and have the power to handle a fish with one's dominant hand/arm on the rod. And you never have to change hands after you cast. If you notice, most of those same right-handed fishermen (I'd say prolly 90%) situate the handle of their SPINNING reels on the left side. But they insist on buying and using baitcasting reels with the handles on the right side. My first baitcasting reel was like this but that was because I didn't know better and followed what the other sheep do. But when that reel eventually wore out, I switched sides and I'll never look back. The reason I say this is because, especially with powerful fish like musky, you need every bit of power/control you can muster. All your non-dominant hand needs to do is turn the reel handle.

Obviously muskie fishing is a two person sport. You can catch them alone,.. but it just makes more sense to have someone in the boat with you to grab the net, steer the boat, etc. The shows are much more interesting when you identify the lake you're on even if it's in Wisconsin, nobody's going to fish out those lakes. The locals who could fish every day already know about those lakes.
