The only lesson you should get from these videos is go to the salon, don't be a cheapo
When she showed the photo showing the color she wanted, I laughed. It is delusional to think that you will get those results at home with your Quick Blue and a roll of aluminium foil.

It's doable but not as simple as the tutorials make it look. I have black hair naturally and I went white in 3 days. I opted out of foils because I know I'm just going to mess that up and instead chose to go with a plastic hair cap and then a second heated hair cap on top of it. You don't need 40 volume you just need a bit of heat. Just use day one to strip the colors you might have had or your natural color, day two for deep conditioning and day three the real bleaching session and toning. I use a purple mask toner instead of one that would require more developer since the conditioning helps from the second bleaching session.

THANK YOU, Hair Buddha ! I have wanted to get silver / gray highlights put into my completely virgin medium-brown long hair but I have now decided AGAINST it. My hair has a LOT of natural gold tones and from watching your videos, I have learned that it would be a real challenge to “lift” my natural colour to white before toning it to silver. It’s taken me three YEARS to grow out this beautiful, thick hair. I don’t want to risk damaging it ! Your videos have taught me a LOT and I’m very grateful ! Warmest wishes to you and your family from Canada ! 🇨🇦

I agree with Keiva Jones. Most of us end up start going silver grey from our 50s onwards. I had brown hair in my 20s and spent lots of money trying to go blond or silver/grey. Now that I'm grey at 59, I spend all my money having the grey dyed out. Ironic!

So yellow/orange and blue mixed becomes green? That is crazy, who knew that could happen? 😆

She probably had a previous permanent color in there and didn't opt to remove it before bleaching. A jet black hair dye will lift up and become blue or green if you bleach it. Sometimes it will look fine when you bleach it and then morph into a whole nother color when you sit another dye in there without removing all of it

I always find that toner doesn't work for my hair but a purple hair mask will get me right and white hair the first time every time and it will last months with minimal upkeep.
Hi! I am a 38 year old married mother of two teenage boys. My career at the moment is supporting students with special needs. My long term goal is to go back to school to become a Hair Stylist. I LOVE watching your videos. I learn so much from you and I am truly grateful for you and your channel.
I have the impression, that people think if their hair is very dark they have to take higher percentage in volume 😔 I got a balayage at the salon 4 years ago and it took 1 year to achieve the cool blond I wanted, but that was totally ok 🤷🏻♀️ My hairdresser recommended doing it like this, going slow from a gold/copper blond to lighter blond to cool/icy blond 😊 Sadly my hair "hates" bleaching, it gets super dry, even with olaplex, a ton of good masks and conditioner 😭 So I'm back to my natural brown now 🙈
My hair is naturally grey. I once tried a toner that was supposed to make my hair super shiny and instead it came out kind of green. I wonder if that was the metallic thing you were referring to. Anyway, I've learned that with grey hair there's no point in toning it and I should just keep using purple shampoo or purple conditioner.

You can try a clear toner or gloss for shine it won’t change your natural color
As a hairdresser, I really enjoy this channel, funny as hell
I'm so glad you re~affirmed using the 20 volumes (for most hair) at least twice. I do mine at home with a highlight/slice comb and people's eyes get huge when I say to them 'yes, bleaching process twice for up to 50 minutes each on 20 volume peroxide'. And I only ever use BLONDME..(awesome perfumed smell)....I can see them looking at my hair wondering why it still looks healthy and thick and at the same time quite light blonde........
@burmesejade4080

However, I did not know using 30 & 40 volumes does NOT give enough time for your orange & bright yellow pigments in your hair to melt.......very important tip, many thanks Hair Bhudda x
Back when i did dye my hair i never went higher than 20 usually it was 10. My natural color was a dark ash blonde and i would go to black. I stopped when i noticed the first twinkling of silver. I love my silver. I learned my lesson when i let a friend try to dye my hair and it all turned to spaghetti i was rocking the 80's banshee punk look with a passion as there was nothing else to do with it. My current hair is just past waist dark almost brown with a lot of silver starlight.

Starlight! I love that and I'm totally stealing it to describe my hair from now on, I'm so done with dying it all the time. Thanks for giving me a new term and a bit if courage to keep going with my grey hair.
I think she said "on camera it doesn't look too bad, but "off" camera it looks crazy " 😜 yup! True x
I used to think for years that the breakage that was happening to my hair in the shower, and the massive amounts of shedding that was happening to my hair from constantly processing and bleaching it, was normal shedding... until I cut off all the dead parts of my hair and now just a little bit of my hair fall out instead of massive handfuls lmaoo edit to say: I feel like 90% of that person's video was her staring at herself lol
I would never dye my hair so dramatically by myself. Let alone film it and put it online. As I know that I would end up posted on here or on one of those hair fail compilation videos lol
"From black to black" 🤣🤣 alternative title!! Your reaction in the end made me laugh so hard!!
Hair Buddha is SO knowledgeable and I’ve learned enough from him and beauty school to walk into a color salon and probably be able to do a great job. I do wish he would do a cutting series, I know he did some stuff early on but more cutting techniques would be so fun
I have been watching you for quite a while and decided to bleach my dyed (often box dyed) black hair because I was sick of it (at least 15 years worth of black colour, I am 40). And I told myself if I am going to ruin my hair, I will at least ruin it myself and not pay for it. Stupid thinking. But I didnt want to go blond. I just wanted an ashy brown. So I bleached my hair blondme 20vol and bleach. I sectioned, put my timers and then dyed my hair with a permanent dark ash blond. And even with all that, I still got damage. I got a hair cut after, took care of my hair and its been 4 months and I am so happy with the colour and my hair is fine. That being said... All these fails with so many info on the internet is mind boggling to me. Love from Greece!❤️
In my whole career as a colour technician I rarely ever used 40vol
She would look good with warm, caramel blond. Just stop with the platinum obsession, it really doesn't work for everyone, it's crazy expensive and damaging, and a pain to maintain. I know, I had platinium-white hair for a while, I have short hair and I'm a natural blonde, and it was still a pain. Now when I go blond I stick to medium ashy tones.
@joane24

Totally agree. I also think caramel or honey blonde look more classy than platinum. For a platinum you need a good and maintained haircut to pull it off well.

Oh god. If you bleach once and your hair snaps off in the front before you've gotten where you want, I would NOT go back in and rebleach. Scary!
Love your videos. 6 months ago I started working at a retail location that sells dyes, bleach etc. we get some basic training and I always advise people to read directions and watch multiple videos from different people before they try to do anything crazy. Seeing your videos have helped me learn why certain things are happening when people attempt things like this woman did. So many people like her think that they can tone level 7-8ish hair and magically have platinum. Some I have been able to talk out of it... some not so much.
My special rule when it comes to at home hair sessions is, if you have a lot of hair, long hair, thick hair, just go to the salon. If you have short hair and maybe medium long (length of shoulder but not below it) then give it a try at home. There's just too much to do and too many areas to cover when it comes to doing your own hair that's very long or very full
@joane24

I would also add, the opposite is also true: not just thick hair, but if you have fine thin hair, go to the salon as well. Because you don't want to excessively damage the delicate hair you have.
1:05 I almost fell out of my chair laughing so hard at her thinking that she could even attempt to get that kind of hair.

Love the Marshall amp set up 👍
The Nile is not only a river in Egypt. ❤
People don't understand that if you want to go from dark to platinum it takes so much effort, time and money to achieve it. Not to mention a patience. Currently I'm going from black( blue black) to platinum. Doing that in hair salon, has bleached my hair 3 times already and I'm not there yet. I'm blond, but not platinum yet. So far 4 months in the process in order not to lose or completely damage my hair. That's my second time going from black to platinum ,not my first and I knew what I'm signing up for this round. People, don't do stupid things and then cry when you lose your hair.

Ha ha! This happened to me to the one time I ever tried going blond... years ago. It was awful. Honestly I think the warmer "brassy/orangey blond" mine goes to when I just bleach looks better on me than any blond toners at all since I am already a redhead. i'll probably never try toners again 🤣
@JuliaKirsty
Жыл бұрын
There are warm shades in toners too. But I totally agree, sometimes people oversee the fact, they look stunning in warmer shades. Some just look so fab with coppery golden shades and caramel, maple, honey, chocolate and beige - those are very beautiful tones, but most people still want silver/platinum hair. I mean, people are allowed to want that, of course. But sometimes it just looks better to stop a few steps prior to reaching a level 10 cool toned color. (I can wear both, so I tend to switch between a warmer level 7-8 and a level 10 neutral, creamy blonde at least once a year - my hair is VERY short though, so the old bleach will be grown out by the time I bleach it again.) I like both ends of the spectrum, and I always love it when someone actually WANTS a warm balayage or warm highlights - that can look so stunningly beautiful, especially on longer hair. And by the way, I also love the hair color you got on your profile picture - very beautiful!
Love your content ❤❤✂️

I wish she was here I miss her so much this time of year . Sorry went off track. Mr. Hair Budah I hate coloring my hair so much but I have to keep up with my grays I was thinking about doing hi lites. Would hi lites be less damaging ? I figured I wouldn't need to color my whole head just do the hi lites that frame my face. Most of my grays are the upper.right and left where my bangs are.

Hello hello my friend hair buddha . I know it is hard for you to see the sisters doing mistakes. You will always be our favorite expert on how to do it right. Thank you for your videos my friend.❤️🤗❤️🤗
I think she should've dyed it a semi permanent orange, after the first failed bleaching attempt.
To me it doesn't matter if someone's hair is naturally dark, box dyed dark, red or whatever color, I NEVER use a higher level than 20 volume. But I also needed to learn that first. Higher volume doesn't mean the end result is better. And I personally prefer taking someone to a level 9 max and tone it correctly other than bleaching it until it falls off. My natural hair lifts quite easily and whenever I want to go a bit darker, I rather use demi-permanent color coz it's way easier to get out of the hair than permanent color. (But I never go too dark, just 2 to 3 levels darker and usually wait until the demi is faded a lot before I go lighter again.)
They always sound so confident in the beginning.. but the end result? Not so confident anymore.
What's the best waist-length+ hair care? (My hair is red-black and no color will *ever* touch it I just want to support it for length and shine/health.)
Please before starting use dye remover or lighten the dyed parts with 10 or 20 volume developer and dish soap or strong shampoo equal amounts of each mix? It will save you a lot of time and grief and makes the bleaching results better that's how I did it
Dam, she could've just done a bleach bath to get rid of the green and left it alone for a while and continued her journey.
When the top word on the container is POISON, I'm not putting it anywhere near my head.
Hey hellooo hb 😁 ❤️ xx
Ppl think what we do for a living is so easy until they try to attempt to achieve the same results as a trained professional 😂 I hope she learns to appreciate stylist
How do you fix it from that green color??
How come as soon as they say they have experience bleaching their own hair- it goes wrong! 😂 Why - I thought they had experience?!? 😉
She said on camera its not looking so bad. And in real it looks crazy
The background music.....
My response when I saw the goal was, “Oh no honey. Never”
🤣🤣🤣 I was so annoyed. What was the point in that 😂
The denial is real!!
I've never bleached my hair or have had it bleached. It's just that the same issue that people have even if the sections are small enough is that there wasn't enough bleach. She was saying that she was making sure that she did it correctly and how she was doing that. I could still see some of her hair color showing from each part when she was done putting the bleach on that part. When people at home don't get spotty hair at home, they use tons of bleach. They put it on like they're painting their hair white. if it looks completely white with the bleach on, then it has enough bleach on. That's after the sections are small enough. So I kinda fell like bleaching at home done correctly is gonna cost over $100 usd. That's still a lot of money. The Quick Blue bleach that most Americans use costs at least $25. There's not enough in the tub even if it were filled up to the top of the tub to fully bleach most people's hair. Then the person has to get enough tubs of the bleach. That's just the bleach. Not even the developer, toner, and or color for the hair. If a person can find a good colorist, then it's worth paying them. I can see if someone at home does their hair well and enough times that they have plenty of products left over from previous times, that they don't have to spend tons of more money to do their hair with. It's just that doing it correctly the first time and after a long time when the products are expired/too weak to work, then that person has to spend a lot of money again. It's a lot of money to get it professionally done, but that's about the same with the cost of doing correctly it at home. At least that's how the prices work in the US.
me too
