The Queen of Wenches
In the dark of the moon when lay I, my mind troubled,
She, the Queen of Wenches didst come to me in a dream,
Her hair like blazing coils of beaten copper lanyards,
The dust of the rose, scarabs of Egypt on her feet,
Her parted lips dripping with the crimson juice of beets.
A frenzying hankering within me rolled and bubbled,
Like a calm waft to the morning mist over a stream.
Her shade like the blood of the setting sun o’er the yards,
Her eyes like glazed beryls rolling down a golden street,
The sheen on her lips like the ice cream on sundae splits.
Her teeth like the white of snow on a distant mountain,
Her fingers, white as tulips, drawing me to her breast,
Titillating me with her saccharine caresses.
Her utterance like the voice of the wind on the sea,
Summoning me to witness my own desecration,
On ancient altars whereon no god has left its stain,
In the canals of she that endures outside of rest,
Nor an excrescence in the sleekness of her tresses.
There, like the hem of her garment she unraveled me,
As I bowed to the seed of her itch and temptation.
