There’s something Consort Ling said here that I actually agree with, which is the fact that the Emperor himself also has a huge responsibility in how everything turned out. Ling is so right with her criticism that the Emperor has done the Empress wrong, one of the few women in the entire palace who truly loved the Emperor. I hate both Consort Ling and the Emperor the same lmao

Hailan started off soft but got so hardcore. Starting when Ruyi was in the Cold Palace and she had to protect herself. She did well because she didn't like the emperor and actually wanted to stay in the background. Plus of course having a gifted son.

As she said, he taught her how to lie and play the game. She knew what to say. If the harem really was like this (and there are accounts of at least some consorts scheming and having enemies killed), it must've been ridiculously stressful.

Time and again i come back to rewatch this scene, the entire cast were excellent portraying the weight of such tragic loss and the truth finally coming to light. The emperor did not deserve Ruyi in the slightest and I am glad she never truly went back to him and found her own peace.

"Yes. Ruyi wanted me to tell you that this was indeed a trap. But all those traps were chosen by ourselves." I feel that Ruyi sent those words, not just for Consort Ling, but also for the Emperor. Consort Ling committed many heinous crimes - but the Emperor allowed it to happen. He refused to believe the women he favored were capable of such evil. He was influenced by desire, and pretended his lust was "love", even going so far as to have Ruyi persuade Princess Xiangjian, whom he desired, to become his lover - knowing she did not care for him. To insult Ruyi by calling it "love-at-first-sight" gave her strength to break free of the Forbidden City, and the Emperor. You only get one love. He chose to "love" another, so Ruyi took her heart back, and when the Emperor finally realized Ruyi was the only one who loved him faithfully, it was too late. The Emperor lives the rest of his life in guilt and regret, alone.

@@asd82314 朋友，謝謝妳！我也看過了，說實在各方面的差距太遠，除了當初流行的金句，但是也無法與「如懿傳」想比，也不配稱其為金句，甄嬛傳字字句句都是尖酸刻薄，而如懿傳字字句句都是忠孝仁愛情義友誼，當然還有許多失望無奈回憶。這要自己看過才能深刻體會。

Whoever was in charge of the makeup in this series is phenomenal. You don't only see the passing of time, but also you can obviously see how sick Ruyi is supposed to be. Paired with Zhou Xun's teary eyed face and soft voice... just amazing. You can compare with stills of episode 1 and the difference is palpable. Probably one of the best harem dramas, next to Zhen Huan's Legend.

When looking at the Sutra Flag that Ruyi made, it reminded me of Consort Shu who make similar sutra to pray for the Emperor's health. I saw Consort Shu's earnest prayers, as she was deeply infatuated with love with the Emperor. Ruyi's flag, show the same earnest feeling, but now raised double, the pity and love she had for everyone, including for those who work against her: Jinzhong, Lancui, etc.

Am I the only one that thinks Halian looks confused when the flags are brought in? She was running her show apparently unaware that Ruyi had orchestrated an Act II. I think Ruyi knew Halian needed to do this to be free of the circumstances of her son's death. And Ruyi needed to be sure the emperor didn't go soft on Yawan and just demote her or something. Halian starts crying seeing all the flags. I think it's a this point that she realizes just how many people Yawan has killed. She was so caught up in her own grief, she had forgotten about the rest.

Yuhu should be the Empress as she’s most trusted by Emperor . She’s graceful calm and resolute and can run the harem

It's insane how the worst people were allowed to go unpunished and be happy most of the time. The emperor trusted the wrong consorts and hurt Ruyi over and over. It was so weird watching Yanxi palace and having her character be good. She played the game well but didn't hurt innocent people. She specifically had a rule against going after children and kept them safe from the Step Empress for years.

The one who should have taken that bol of poison should have been the Emperor himself..he was weak...how many times had Yuri and his mother told him that Ling was a murderer but he never listen..from the first child that she killed ..where all the evidence was against her he didn't do anything..so for me he is the culprit!!

Everybody could act up, but Ruyi kept getting shut away because she didn't have a strong family to back her up. For example, everybody knew Jia was a schemer but she pulling strings with no consequences for years. She would get punished and demoted just to get her position back and have another baby. Her clan was important, so she was allowed to literally get away with murder until she slipped up one too many times.

She was very funny he was too busy doing that he did that's why he didn't listen what they were telling him they kept telling him and telling them that this woman what's killing it's kids but no he was too busy screwing her and messing with the second wife and doing her in prison and doing all this crazy stuff to second wife who had did nothing this man was really backwards his problem was that he likes to you know what too much with his win he was too busy messing with his second wife which was wrong when it was this woman doing all the wrong in his mother and his advisor was telling him this but he refused to listen he was too busy until his lust with this woman that's why he didn't want to do nothing to him because he wanted to keep her around the screw her this man was just throwed off his priorities was screwed up and then he's just as guilty because he killed people too he did things that he shouldn't have been doing and he allowed a lot of this to happen you know he didn't kill he didn't care about his children he didn't care about nothing but what he wanted and that was it every time he talked to his second wife was oh because I'm Emperor oh I do care but because I'm the emperor this is how then because I'm over the nation in other words he kept saying because I'm God this is the way it is the man was stowed off he wasn't no God he wasn't nothing

I know the Emperor is a deeply flawed man who treated the women in his life very badly. I have to wonder how the deaths of his children affected him, especially since most of them were murdered. They were murdered by women he trusted. All the manipulative games being played around him would be enough to make anyone paranoid.

I always have to remind myself, as the audience we see everything and hear all the plotting and schemes. If we were a player, we would be more or less in the dark until we had a break just as they did. The concubines all seemed to have pooled together to bring down Ruyi, even before she was Empress. That might have been due to his true love of her and her not being evil. I believe deep down, they envied her goodness and being able to survive without plotting.

He really didn't have that much to do with his children so they dance was just like anything else for him because he really never paid attention every time they came to him was something he would put you to the side or just giving him a reward and say something nice and so it can be left alone that's all he did when they died he would give them award come on now this man was crazy I would say that in word that they like to say for people that think of they sell he was full of himself he even said I love myself cuz nobody else won't love me but he was a foolish man yeah he didn't really care about his children all he could care about was listening to gossip and believing every word of it and messing with his second wife that's all he did he never went to war than anything that made sense even when the oldest but the young brother went to him he didn't want to hear it he didn't even want his men to feel sad when that one guy lost his fiance that that lady killed that's all a bunch of mess he thought he didn't have a right to get drunk and cry but that man was in the love and it came like that don't know what love is you sleep with too many women there's no love lost there

@@ellasatterwhite2759 the age thing actually made sense- they wanted to make sure all of the women in his harem were at the prime age for him to produce viable children with. As he grew older, his harem dwindled and weakened (from subsequent pregnancies and miscarriages) so of course they had to introduce more young women into it. As slimy as it feels, the sole purpose of the harem is continuing the lineage. There’s pleasure in it too but it was more of a duty than anything.

Actually, the emperor truly gives her a vile punishment. After she suffers excruciating pain from the poison, he feeds her the antidote and the next day feeds her the poison again. It goes on everyday for several years until she goes crazy from the constant pain

It was a shit hole when he was ruling, he was the caused ans end of the Qing dynasty. Ruyi's son died after her in a span less than 10 years due to depression tho.

Then when the evidence revealed just to pretend he added this matter. But he was not totally convinced with that evidences becaused he knew it all from the start. But he remain silent to protect consort ling. When consort ling started to tell a lie.he believed her but empress dowager came in to proved all her crimes. So the emperor had no choiced but to give her slight punishment. But in the end they both grow old together and die old together

I have to give it to her she told the truth right there and all of them was kind of hitting to him that he loved him she knew all the time that she loved them and he caused her to cut her hair for all the mess that he sent her through and he still couldn't admit that it was that he was at fault even after all of this but sorry man what a terrible king or Emperor or whatever y'all want to call him he wasn't even the man he didn't even love his own kids he was just making so so he can have a if somebody to take over when he died it's sad that the children paid the price for his sins other people paid the price for their sins but he's too sins cuz he had a hand in killing too his mama until she turned around had a hand and to kill him she knew that this woman killed that woman in her child but she didn't say nothing just let her go but I think in the end that his mother came to her senses and realized that this woman was really his second wife was the truest wife to him from the beginning to the end she was just tired she didn't want to be Empress she didn't want to be nothing but a wife to him and he couldn't even give that to her

Frustratingly, in a twisted way, all those evil women who has made Ruyi’s life in the palace miserable and even murdered her loved ones, in the end kinda get their last laugh. Their despicable deeds hidden to the world, they got great posthumous titles, got nice burial places and even their living kids live in wealth & glory (even Wei Yanwan’s kid has became the Emperor), while Ruyi name was already tainted when she lives (e.g: the Empress Fuca’s ‘memoir’, stripped off her titles in such a public announcement, etc) and even after she dies she has become a nameless nobody with a humble grave. Such an ending for the one in the harem who genuinely loves the Emperor

Yes, Both dramas take place during the Qing Dynasty. Wei Yinglou (Story of Yanxi Palace) and Wei Yanwan (Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace) are both based on Consort Ling. The consorts and concubines birth names were never really written down, so that's why the writers gave Consort Ling different birth names in the dramas. Wei Yinglou is the protagonist in Story of Yanxi Palace whereas Wei Yanwan is the antagonist in Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace.

Story of Yanxi Palace: focuses on wei yingluo, a seamstress that enters the palace to find out what happened to her older sister. When she becomes consort ling, she butts heads with hoifa nara shushen (empress nara) who becomes jealous of her because of her ability to charm the emperor by being sharp witted ruyis royal love: focuses on ula nara ruyi (empress nara) and her trials and tribulations as she ascends to become empress. Wei Yanwan enters the harem when Yongcong is born, and she becomes more and more immoral as she becomes obsessed with becoming empress and ruining ruyi’s life because of ling yunche’s love for ruyi

Ruyi was the one who was down for him she never planned to scheme against him. He got mad when she confronted him of his last then cut her hair. In her clans beliefs they cut it for those 2 reasons. Since he started not having faith & trust in her (mind you, he was caught scrooging around but blames her for everything that went wrong in his life) she mourned her husband. I would've cut not just a piece but the whole damn thing.

I also watched Yanxi Palace before and the only thing that makes this consort ling and that consort ling is she really is a cunning woman.

⁠I believe Ling was very dark in history because it was pretty suspicious how she managed to have more children while other children were dying young. The Emperor had hundreds if not thousands of concubines and many children, you’re telling me that only Ling managed to have all these children especially in the ancient times when people would die young. I’m guessing she only became Empress and higher because of her son.

Part of her punishment should have been to slap her everyday for each person she harmed. The emperor should have gotten a drop kick. He caused this tragedy too. Power no brains but power.

Ruyi son became the mourning prince . He never amounted to anything because he was kept in mourning / an order by the Emperor perhaps . Others progressed ,but he never did . He died young and was looked down upon in the palace ....
