Lovers of indoor flowers know that this pleasure is not cheap. It’s good if you can ask a friend for a cutting, but plants cost from 400 rubles. the smallest and tallest. Sometimes I look at the garden center, the price of some specimens costs 40,000-50,000 rubles. Is it really possible that someone
it buys.
Next you need to purchase fertilizer, which also costs money. Flower pots are a separate issue; most often they cost more than flowers, if they are not plastic. It’s good that Fix Price is helping out now; you can buy inexpensive, beautiful flowerpots there.
But there is a way out. You can take a cheap pot and turn it into an exclusive one.
I took a soft flower pot in which they sell planting material. Plastic buckets for mayonnaise or salted cabbage are suitable for this undertaking. The main task is to turn a soft container into a hard one.
For this I will use papier-mâché, which is made from paper. At first glance it seems that this is an unreliable material, but in fact it is not. After drying, the mass becomes hard and strong. I read somewhere that in China they used to make armor from papier-mâché that could withstand an arrow.
There are different recipes for papier mache. I did this to myself.
1) I used egg trays (2 pieces) as a base. I tore the paper into small pieces and filled it with hot water. I left the mixture overnight to soak thoroughly. The next day I crushed everything in a blender.
2) Squeezed out excess moisture. Added 4 tbsp. spoons of flour and PVA glue, approximately 100 gr. kneaded the “dough”.
3) The mixture was applied in a thin layer (about 0.5 cm) to the pot and leveled with a palette knife. As a result, the paper was compressed and leveled.
4) While the mixture was wet, I made round holes with a pencil. The finished pot took 3 days to dry, but became as hard as wood.
5) I made “bricks” for the second pot. Then I glued them to the pot with Moment glue.
6) The next step is to apply acrylic varnish to the surface.
7) Next is the creative process - we paint our creation with colors to our liking.
