"Hollywood is a system that protects abusers." ALL systems protect their abusers, especially the most powerful ones, whether it be in entertainment, politics, corporations, law enforcement, religion, sports, or most any other community. People at the top of these hierarchies almost always circle the wagons to protect each other, because a lot can ride on the system's clean image and it's ability to stay powerful, relevant and/or make tons of money. Abusers thrive within this institutional protection. It gives them a safe arena to abuse with impunity while their associates either stand by and do nothing (often out of fear) or actively enable the abuse. I'm glad for this movie, hopefully it will serve to educate, but we must remember these issues are ubiquitous, historical and ongoing, and not relegated to Hollywood alone.

People with absolute power abuse it. We need to change our society so people with power don't have the ability to wield it against others, like Harvey Weinstein, the CIA, many police officers, and so many others have done for years.

It will serve to educate NO ONE. The problem lies in the greater SOCIETY ignoring the problem. This is just another example of what I coined as: Apologist Cinema. Take a problem one knows exists and is, as you so eruditely pointed out, ubiquitous and make a movie about it that will change nothing in the grander scale but serves rather as a calmative to the supposedly outraged masses. It's a joke really but people have been buying their brand of drug for almost a century. The belief that movies can change society is, in a word: insane. But of course look at the species. Born insane.

Can't wait. Zoe Kazan and Patricia Clarkson are 2 of my favorites. Is there a woman left on the planet who hasn't dealt with narcissistic abuse, rape, and/or any other degradation? It needs to stop and now. And that's just the women. There are countless men and boys also still recovering.

I think Carrie Mulligan is absolutely brilliant for nailing this snooty Californian boujie mom accent. She is absolutely brilliant for it. Almost every single actress in Hollywood sounds like this

This could be a well crafted and well acted story, but if there is nothing about the colleagues who turned a blind eye then it's only telling part of the story...

Why are these actresses speaking their dialogue so slowly? I can literally see them reading from the script.

Some people with power and influence will abuse it, please be safe out there. Don't meet anyone at a hotel room or late at night who claims this is business unless you are ok with the more than likely possibility of something more than business happening.

This will probably be nominated for a few Oscar's and if it wins it'll probably get applause from the same people that were sucking up to Harvey Weinstein just 6 years ago in every Oscar speech.

I hope the Machiavellianism of the abuser is well described, because it's a piece of the puzzle that has to be perfect to make people understand the dose of violence you get when you become the target of such a guy.

@@lizziebkennedy7505 I'm not complaining about it. It truly is a story that needs to be told and I hope it does the same as Spotlight did highlighting the abuse in the church for the abuse in Hollywood as someone who has suffered SA I'd never wish failure on anything speaking for victims but it still doesn't negate that the trailer wasn't marvellous
