It's time to put Niger on the map!
When I arrived in Niger yesterday, my 168th country, I was picked up at the airport by an Instagram friend named Aminata.
Little did I know that she'd be one of the coolest people I've ever met in my life!
After living in Germany for the last 7 years, she was fed up when people would mistake her for being 'Nigerian' (the English-speaking country next door). So she recently moved back to her hometown of Niamey, Niger to start an NGO promoting her country's culture and traditions. In a sense, she is the one and only 'cultural ambassador' for her Niger and she is doing big things like organizing the first international cultural festival in August.
In our globalized world of fast-paced, cut-throat societies -- it's imperative for us to preserve our beautiful cultures, like Aminata is doing with Niger.
Share this video to help Aminata's goal of putting her country on the map! I may add, an amazing country that is :)

I am in Malaysia. I am so happy that they are holding onto their culture. It is sad watching the world become like one big mall in America. I want to travel the world and see their cultures, not eat at McDonald's and Starbucks. Corporations are destroying cultural identity and local handicrafts. Everything seems mass produced around the world. It is a bit sad.

I love the way she so energetically welcomed Drew at 2 in the morning. By the way InshAllah means (God/Allah willing) - which you can tell Drew knows because he made put a capital A in inshAllah in respect for God's name (Allah). Thank you Drew, another beautiful video.

Love you Aminata Your so inspiring ❤️😘
Absolutely amazing woman. Every one should love their culture. I m proud of mine.
I really want to go here now! She seems so friendly!
Your videos are so informative and interesting! You and Deanna should start making around the world info videos for primary school students, the ones who can't afford to travel will learn about the different cultures customs and even urban lifestyle around the globe....I am sure that would be successful....I showed your few videos in my class and my students got so much info and they researched further....thanks for your efforts!
What an inspiring and ambitious woman she is, much love from the U.K.
I always wondered how to pronounce that country. Great video Drew. I guess u got now less than 30 countries to go. Keep going man. I'm excited for u.

this comment exploded my head (it's funny. I'm laughing, not mad) It does not say you to like the comment if you think that Africa is amazing. It says you to like if Africa is amazing. How can I tell if Africa is objectively amazing? apart from a personal perspective, what even is "amazing"?

@@lilsomething8905 they are African because they were born there and their forefathers migrated there before the black Bantu tribes migrated there. Afrikaans is an African language because it developed in Africa and lots of brown people also speak Afrikaans as their mother tongue. Doesn't mean they not African just because their skin is white.
