She’s half Lebanese, her father’s side are from Lebanon. Her mother is Colombian. She is very proud of her fathers culture (belly dancing being a part of that).

Shakira’s mother is Colombian; her father is Lebanese but was raised in Colombia. That’s how she got her Arabic name and her father took her to a Middle Eastern restaurant where she was first exposed to the music and belly dancing! 💃🏽🙂

My daughter and I walk around saying "Shakira Shakira" for absolutely no reason, lol. It's such a great song.

I'm a Shakira fan as well, Don't Bother is one of my favorite songs by her, And few of her early Spanish Hits. Can't wait for her to go back to her roots of Alternative Pop/Rock. Read next project will be like her early music from the 90's.

@@lovecyn4ever5 I prefer her early stuff as well. I’ve never disliked anything she’s done, but I loved the Spanish language songs, the more alternative stuff, and the slightly Arabic influenced songs that compliment her belly dancing. We are on the same page!

Jay, you didn't know Shakira could dance??? She's Colombian for starters so they are born dancers, and secondly where have you been man? She's famous for her dancing, as well as her singing!!!

I first saw Shakira live back in 1996 when she came to Brazil with her first album's tour. She had two huge singles at that time,"Estoy Aqui" and "Donde Estás Corazón". The concert was simple compared to what she does on stage today, but very exciting. It is so nice to see she is still here after all these years making really good music. You should definitely check other songs like "Ojos Asi" and "Whenever, Wherever (Live & off the Record)".

Shakira was, is and always will be my perfect woman. Her looks, her accent, her voice, the way she moves. 🥵 The fact she looks as good now in her early 40s as she did in her early 20s is insane. P.s. "En Barranquilla se baila así" means In Barranquilla you dance like this. Barranquilla is a district, and city, in Colombia and is where Shakira grew up.

Shakira is one of my favourite artists....and I don't speak Spanish. Her music is always very fun, upbeat and soulful. You don't always need to understand the words to feel what her music is saying.

I personally love her Spanish music before she crossed over to English but she has some good ones. For more Nelly dancing try “Ojos Así” (Eyes like these) and my favorite and Shakira’s favorite (according to her a concert that I attended), “Inevitable” (Spanish ballad).

You are adorable and your open mindedness to various genres of music is appreciated.

My young 12 year old, pale son. Heard shakira and saw her whenever wherever video. Laundry service was 1of 2 cds he ever requested me to buy. Family loved it too. Later, while in college he took up salsa dancing. Was engaged to a girl from Barranquilla , Columbia. When that ended, He dated and married a dominica and italian girl. Has 2 girls now, one more pale and one brown. Beautiful of course.. Just goes to show that the influences of childhood can last a lifetime. Shakira met her partner While filming waka waka video for 2010 fifa games he is ten years younger and also very good looking. 2 beautiful children. Shes only 5 foot 3 but she uses every bit of it to entertain.

Yes she did. She will always be dear in my heart, because she was the halftime artist at the Super Bowl when my Chiefs won it all, for the first time in 50 years.

I'd like to see him react to some Selena Quintanilla "Dreaming of you". She was so young and talented but her life got cut short unfortunately.

When this came out all of us Belly Dancers were thrilled and dance to it at least once for a seminar performance/showcase. This and "Whenever, Whatever."

Shakira: iconic voice and iconic body language! And the most important words in Spanish: „mi casa? Su casa?“ (My house? Your house?) :-)
