I'm a 70 year-old, ex-alcoholic Atheist and her voice took me to a very disorienting place, a place I'm not supposed to be, a place where tears just sprang forth, I don't know why... I'm going to go lay down, I'm worn-out, I was just jumping around KZread and stumbled across your channel and this video unexpectedly, I wasn't looking to be so touched, so emotionally captured, so mesmerized. She sings it stunningly!!!! Very heartfelt. To me, her version of this song is second after David Phelps’s. His version is still number 1 for me for non classical version of this song. I cry a lot when David sings this song.

Andrea, Sohyang sang this version of "Oh Holy Night" in 2012, and most of us are convinced that by that time she was the best female vocalist in the world. She is just absolutely insane! A true space alien in our midst! Here is another one from Sohyang in 2012 and she just belts a grand slam out of the park with "I Always Miss You" in Korean but this is quite different. Very intense but also a bit of a stage performance as if she was in a night club singing this jazzy, bluesy song, practically begging her man to come back home. I edited the link to start near the beginning of the song. Thought you might enjoy this cover from Sohyang. She performed this over a decade ago when she was virtually unknown outside Korea. She did a lot of live performances on this show and it was when people really took notice of her talent. When she performs this song at concerts she actually falls to her knees when the lyrics call for it. It’s heartwarming and touching. This truly is a stunning performance. If you every go back to S. Korea ( I know you went to Seoul recently) you should try to get an interview with So Hyang. Emre Yücelen from Turkey, who does reactions and had reacted to several So Hyang performances, found a way to go to Korea and interview So Hyang. So I would bet that you would have a good chance to do the same. It would be so interesting to see what the discussion would be. One person said they got contact information for So Hyang through the Korean Embassy. How ever you do it I know it would be worth it! Anyway, thanks for your heartfelt reaction to this performance. Andrea:-) I have watched you for the last 2 months or so! Though your whole SoYoung journey! I have been a huge SoHyang fan now for 11 years and have watched every video and interview with her some in English , many in Korean , some with English subs , some not! I have found w You pickup a lot when you don’t even know what she is saying! She is a very confident Performer but still gets very nervous before performances but uses that energy to help make her better! She is mostly self taught with the right people along the way ! Like 5-6 free lessons give to her by Seth Riggs( vocal coach for; Prince, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, José José, Ray Charles, Olivia Newton-John, Madonna, Johnny Hallyday, Sohyang, AGNEZ MO, Bette Midler, Julio Iglesias and Barbra Streisand. She met him by chance , he was impressed , and later said she had more natural talent then anyone he made have heard to date! Some choir singing, from a producer who heard her playing around in a studio( he gave her a song he had written , had her record it and took her on a tour , and had it played on radio stations , it was a modest hit and her start! Along soon after that she met her present husband ( Kim Hee-jun ). at church( his father and mother were both Ministers and he and his siblings had started a band but had practised for two years but had no lead singer, she liked them and said she would help them out ! Within two years they had fallen in love and got married shortly after! They both said they had had dreams short after getting engaged ! They dreams both seemed involve God , advising both of them to hurry and getting married asap ! So with help from family then did( both just 20 years old - in Korea you are considered to be 2 year old as soon as you are born) Shortly after she got married decided she should go for a complete physical ( seeing a doctor was not something common to her) it was discovered she had ovarian cancer on one side and Doctors sad she needed immediately! Surgery was arranged quickly ( her parents who were divorced in her mid teens were unable to be there) surgery was going well but surgeon decide to make sure after one side was remove to double check other side! Cancer was the discovered on that side too! He called her husband and his parent to presurgery for emergency meeting ! He gave them the options - her husbands family said her best chance was to remove other ovary, there were lots of orphan who need parents if they wanted children but she must come first - it was decide! SoHyang when told she knew God was trying to warn her- hence his impatience with them getting married but she had hesitated! She and her Parents were all so glad the other ovary was removed increasing chances of more cancer! Her husband is a drummer and producer and helps pick many of her songs in competitions( often staying up all nigh( he does like attention to be drawn to him! His Father and Mother are SoHyang’s Managers which is great with her because her very best friend is his mother and she his father a friend and they both think alike so never argue! She is a true sister to her husbands siblings They along with SoHyang had spent years together travelling to dozens of countries sing in Churches and at religious concerts ! People in foreign Countries knew of her but most Koreans did not till the day she first sang in competitio! Her health concerns were not over as she Caught Hepatitis probably from the transfusion during surgery . From half way thru 2015 to 2016 she had 8 serious battles with Pneumonia! She was almost ready to give up but while visiting one of her sisters-in-law, visited Philadelphia and Banner with a quote from Franklin D. Roosevelt that stated ,”the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” She took it as a message telling her to have faith and be brave. Not too discover later it was a mistake ! When she sang ,” You Raise Me Up,” from Immortal Songs , she was under Doctors orders not to sing or ever talk too much as she would likely ruin her voice for good! She new she had promise Hod , for saving her life from cancer she would sing to lift the spirits of all that suffer , she must sing in case some one was at show that needed to be lifted up. Great reaction as always. This and the end of her “I Have Nothing” (watch that one in the blue dress) are the best versions of the songs I’ve ever heard because of her mix of passion, commitment, and technique. She’s normally on her knees when she sings O Holy Night live in concert currently because she’s so into it.

Lovely reaction Andrea. Like you I'm a huge Sohyang fan and think she is right up there with best singers on the planet. I don't think you have reacted to 'Everyone' yet which for me is an absolute masterpiece. It is 7 minutes of vocal perfection, and very moving. @@AndreaSilvestro 👍 It’s usually best to watch that one 5-6 reactions in so it’s time. 😁 I agree … it’s Sohyang at her prime and her masterpiece. She doesn’t sing this song anymore because it was her most difficult and after all the bouts of pneumonia she’s had, she doesn’t think her voice has gotten back where she can recreate that level of singing. That’s why it’s so special.

Do you guys notice that most singers sing this song which is on the peak, they could not reach that high so they used whistle. Using whistle in a song really disconnects my emotion. But Soh Yang is the only person who belts using mixed voice on the peak note A5. No one dares to come closer to her Belt and control. And Dimash can belt that high A5 too on the song of "Hello". King Dimash and Queen Soh Yang.

I really wish you could react her rock song which is extremely powerful and an incredible jump of octave. The song is "Monalisa" but she performed in a Mask singer show where every contestant should wear a mask. I am sure that song won't make you tear up😅 this time.
