Agreed. I'm a new Elevator enthusiast and my favorite brands are Otis & Dover. More on the Dover side though!

I remember when i was quite a bit younger i found one that had a mind of its own it would take you to a different floor, just not always the one you asked it to take you to (when i was trying to go down to the ground floor, it decided to take me to either the first or second floor, and i ended up having to go down the stairs)

This elevator is in fantastic shape though. The cab looks really nice for its age. But your right, it just needs some help. This elevator would probably run perfectly with some help.

I've actually seen something like that the service elevator in my building except instead of travelling back up to 1 it went up and down three times in a row without opening the doors

I have been in a very drunk elevator too yesterday, it was a Schindler HT 400AE with an indicator that turns on and off and keeps making the down chime randomly and even making it long, acting like the traction motor as it went down on my first round trip

Someone left it in Twilight Zone Mode.

This elevator is also featured on The Elevator Channels top ten worst elevators. It made #10

Beautiful condition. Sad that it is not working properly. I hope they fix it.

Careful with those jokes Camper. That is a good way to get blocked. What could cause the controller to behave like that would be a good amount of lint and dust in it. If I was over there with a vacuum, I would be vacuuming it out and it would be running much better.

It did that to me when I was at JCPENNEY at Richmond Town Square at Richmond heights, Ohio trying to go up, three buttons lit up it had three floors. It was Montgomery had to took the escalator.

Wow I had seen a elevator at mizpah where the indicator was crazy

Sad to see such a good elevator go to waste.

Wow the elevator must had a hangover or something. It's a controller issue that hopefully can get fixed without being modded.

Now I know where one of the two controllers went from the Major Taylor Garage.....

Geez I wonder what it would do if you push the alarm button, it's probably messed up also.

I been on a Dover like this before and got stuck for two minutes. It let me out.

Encoder Fault It goes down to the basement but it always thinks it need to go to 1. So as it arrives in the basement, before opening the doors it goes back up to 1 again which is kinda funny 😂

Tails fan 414 if I remember right Jacob (The Elevator Channel) and Patrick (Streetcar1664) found this in 2012, and it was extremely low on oil.

The contacts in the relay logic need the carbon brushed off them

Two things that could cause it to behave like this. The controller is dirty and needs a good vacuuming, and it could be the pipe leading from the hydro fluid tank could be clogged. Now STL Elevators, at work, I have a new friend who is an elevator tech and his name is Jason too!

Condition wise this elevator looks great but it has one messed up controller. Sad that it’s in this state.

I rode a haunted elevator like this at North Quad on the Ball State campus. I got a tickle in my shorts when I thought I was going to be trapped in it forever. It got replaced by a modernized AMCO elevator. Incidentally, the "U" button is stuck in the huge elevator at West Quad, also on the Ball State campus, meaning the lift automatically goes up.

Someone maybe hacked the elevator and programmed it to do just that

I think it's programmed to not go to the basement. It might be staff only.
